then he drove the my11 car and loved the 'all new gearbox' - he knows EXACTLY what he's talking about if you want good car reviews, just search for chris harris videos
-
very straight forward on the gtr headers/exhaust manifold -> downpipes -> midpipe/y-pipe > centre pipe + muffler/cat back oem has cats in downpipes and midpipe

Margins determine working capital and ultimately the skill set you can afford to hire That workmanship looks like it was picked up outside a home depot Thread is locked, shop has agreed to work out a resolution, so everything is now forgotten and the game rolls on
-
nothing new, and most of those threads often get deleted because they are paid sponsors all those US shops are competing ferociously with each other, often turning up their dynos to 11 and pushing the boundaries because the man with the biggest numbers on the forum always sells the most customer builds are getting fewer, margins are becoming tighter, and this is the result

im going onto 3 years of ownership (bought new may 2010) and has now become the longest ive ever owned a car i wouldnt mind something new, something different, problem is everything else is a backwards step. i take it to the drags for a laugh and reel off a 10.81 with 21" street tyres with the aircon on. put it on the boat and do 1300kms in 3 days in tassie and marvel at the stupid levels of grip, power out of a corner and perfect stock dampening over the bumps. i can't think of anything at any price point i could replace it with that will do all that so effortlessly, so i continue to keep it what i did do recently is buy a 2012 evo x mr to play around and feed the mod/new project bug, and is proving to be quite a great little car - just as tune'able as the gtr but at a far lower price point, eg; new mhi turbo for 1700 bucks shipped and ill only have to lean over the valve cover to fit it. once i put the ohlins coilovers on it ill be taking it to track and entering targa events (in touring class to begin with)

looks like cobb has committed and will have all the features of ecutek available soon to existing cobb users notably boost off the line with user selectable launch rpm http://www.gtrlife.com/forums/topic/84455-cobb-update-upcoming-features-and-support/page__fromsearch__1

yep my bodyshop made similar comment when i first brought my car in with the stock wheels perhaps good excuse to go aftermarket, or maybe choose a custom wheel color (wheel solutions in richmond is the place to go) - if you don't stray too far from the oem gunmetal, you won't need to paint the inner barrels (which iirc are only based coated anyway)
-
if it was something major the car wouldn't be driveable most likely pressure sensor or solenoid either way nissan dealer wont attempt to trouble shoot beyond ecu codes, their suggested and only fix will be a replacement trans - dealers aren't mechanics best put the car on a truck and send it to willall
-
yes, more importantly spool is noticeably improved with catless downpipes i run catless downpipes with cobb catted midpipe
-
a motec complete ecu replacement on this car is far from plug n play and rediculous amounts of overkill for a midpipe tune
-
Thanks for the offer mate but ive since sourced a set Mods please close thread
-
huh? you can dyno tune on cobb too - that is the preferred method for tuning any car. cobb offer e-maps online just for those who don't/can't/won't spend the money to tune their cars properly my car was dyno tuned at willall racing on both 98 and e85 using the cobb software adding a mid pipe to an R35 isnt rocket science, id be content with a mail order map from willall - they've done more than enough now to give you a 99% balls on tune
-
you'll get the best gains from a retune only on the older cars the upgraded power year to year have been all around tuning for the most part (with exception of larger turbo inlet pipes which the aftermarket were doing by larger diameter prior anyway)
-
cobb were the pioneers on this platform but yes don't have the same features as ecutek atm ecutek has variable launch rpms, which you can only do with cobb by running seperate maps - i run 2500 lc rpm everyday, then have switched to a 4200 or 4500 map at the drag strip within 30 seconds. not too big of a deal for the amount of times you'll actually use it ecutek also allows boost off the line, which is irrelevant for a road car anyway unless you want to lunch boxes at the traffic light gp i may be wrong, but i don't believe ecutek has the same tcm interface that cobb has, with being able to set touch points, clutch capacity, and upload the latest launch control and gearbox shift parameters in minutes. upgrading to the lc4 or lc5 cobb tcm does wonders for the driveability of the 09-10 cars the flex fuel is the biggest advantage that ecutek has over cobb, though cobb is currently working on it. flex fuel would be very handy if you dont have the same roll out of e85/flexfuel we have in melb though the biggest decision for me isnt the software, its the tuner - i attended a dyno comp recently and made more power (albeit only 1kw lol) with a 21" wheel disadvantage to a locally tuned R35 with big greddy turbos. choose a tuner, and let them tune the car with whatever they are more familiar with
-
no probs, thanks mate
-
can someone please pm me with regard to winning the outright prize - which was for some motul oil iirc just need to know if it was left at RTR or not - im hoping its the right rating for my evo x
-
the r32 was very close to that tune + exhaust r35 at 320 amazing numbers for an r32, and i could only imagine how brutal that power delivery would be on the road +1 for full results didn't think i was going to beat that big turbo white r35 with my stock turbos and 21s.....kudos to Martin Donnon (Willall Racing) the r35 whisperer
-
ill be in for a map update.....as soon as someone working at the dealer steals a copy, burns it at lunch time, and slaps it on ebay for dollars rather than hundreds
-
Yep arm twisted Itching to see if there are any big turbo r35s in melb
-
the pss aren't available in the sizes i want, only the ps2. i've still got plenty of tread left on these yokohamas so ill just wait it out and see what becomes available in the future. yeh i could even put some toyo r888s on my stock wheels and use them for drag, but i don't want to spend any money on drag racing, not when i'm still on the fence about swapping out the turbos this is what i prefer to do with my gtr.... http://dl.dropbox.com/u/79172343/Tasmania%202013/TAS_012013_MurchisonHwy.avi http://dl.dropbox.com/u/79172343/Tasmania%202013/TAS_012013_LyellHwy_01.avi http://dl.dropbox.com/u/79172343/Tasmania%202013/TAS_012013_PoatinaRd.avi

wheels are 21x10 and 21x11.5 with 255/35f and 295/30r tyres are Yokohama Advan V103. they are regular high performance street tyres and not r-compound tyres like the oem Bridgestones or Dunlops, so there is a definite lack of grip compared to oem for eg; on the street it'll spin all 4 wheels in 2nd and 3rd and using lc is pointless - on my oem tyres i get no slip from a roll on there is nothing wrong with 21" wheels imo, the ride comfort on non-runflat tyres is leaps and bounds better than oem, especially on coarse highway bitumen. the only limiting factor is tyre choice. atm no one offers r-compound tyres in 21" i run the exact same tyres on my evo x in a square 255/35 19x9.5 setup and they offer no wheelspin launching at 5k rpm. the power of the GTR is just too much for them, but i persist because they are one of the most comfortable high performance tyre on the market
-
nissan don't you'll need a cobb accessport to upload the latest trans s/w and launch control - give Martin from Willall Racing a call
-
next time ill be putting my stock wheels/tyres on the rear and shooting for a better 60ft looking at my datalogs, vdc-r is kicking in through 1st and 2nd and limiting boost to 15-16psi through most of the midrange. im only seeing 17+psi into 3rd

with weather cooling decided to head out to heathcote to run the car in cooler ambient temp - wasn't that much cooler unfortunately, it's just far too hot out there, will have to wait for winter before the temps cool down did 3 consecutive 10.8s at varying launch rpms quickest was a 10.81 @ 134.73 mph with track temp at 30degrees. 60ft 1.79 using lc5 with a custom 4100rpm launch control in full auto mode. was still a touch laggy off the line, even with 21" street tyres. Ran out of time and track temp was steadily increasing so didn't get a chance to try my 4500rpm launch map. that 10.7 is definitely within reach if the ambient temp comes down video.... wheelspin through 1st so short shifted. this run was good for a 10.83 http://youtu.be/DQnO0Mgfvko
