  1. Cool. I know it's pretty normal for the shit work to be left to the apprentices and I don't mind doing only smaller stuff like I'm doing now. Due to being an apprentice, it's fair enough as I don't know enough to do the real jobs by myself. Right now, like mig, I'm learning by watching and observing and lending an occasional hand to do some of the more difficult stuff. They also got me to take on really simple jobs for a start. But then I'm still pretty happy where I am at the moment. Like you guys said, definitely will be patient and take things slowly at a time. I wouldn't want to be rushing to try to learn everything now.
  2. Hi guys! I posted a topic about the procedures of becoming an auto apprentice not long ago. Got my wish granted and now a 1st year apprentice for a pretty big workshop. Just like to know if it's normal for 1st years to do anything but mechanical stuff and in my case, doing cleaning up and helping at the wrecking area. (workshop does wrecking as well) Did a couple of minor services and little hands on jobs but that was it for the moment. Just wanna know if that's normal and what can I really expect. Would love to hear from any current apprentices, ex apprentices or anyone who knows someone who is or was an apprentice.

I'll be damn surprised if he ever went to school at all....
  5. Or should I say that they don't give a shit bout anything except dishing out fines and EPA notices.
  6. Well..... worth a thought, ain't it? Or am I missing somethin?
  7. Wazzup with the low lifes??? I wonder if other imports get pinched as often as skylines do. Making me wonder if the cops had a hand in this to "make the streets safer"....
  8. Hailed the size of sand grains in Mt Waverley.
  9. PMed you yesterday.
  10. All items gone. Mods, please close thread.
  11. Thank you all, sirs!!!
  12. I'm just guessing that in physics, bodyroll is caused by the sudden shift in weight of the body of the car. Maybe Cassbo is right in saying that shocks and springs can control the bodyroll and the swaybars will only assist in the process. But at the same time, I also guess that people tend not to rely too much on only shocks and springs is that in normal street driving, the spring rates are not as high and will NOT support as much bodyroll as higher rated coilovers do on the track, thus the major emphasis is on swaybars to do the job for cars that are mainly driven on the street. Someone confirm this for me or correct me if I'm wrong?
  13. People ask because there ARE people who are willing to go that low, therefore they thought that they might just ask. But it's just a question, if you're not happy with the offer, just say no. No need to get abusive. As for the rest of you, give the man a break. If he's not playing by the rules in his post, I'm sure the mods will take action. No need to be smart with him. We're supposed to be one big community here, not a warzone.
  14. Spoiler reduced to $10. The rest are the same. Need them gone by this weekend or they'll go into the tip.
  15. Thanks guys for all your responses!! Looks like it's time to get the whole suspension done.
  16. True....lol
  17. Hi all. Yet another noob question to ask. How do you tell if the standard shocks on the R33 are stuffed and need replacement? When i said tell, i meant by the way the shocks handle bumps and whether they are noisy. My ride's shocks go squish on all four whenever I go over a hump and I'm not sure if that's how they are or they're stuffed. Also, my R33 seem to have a slight bodyroll on cornering at 40km/h. Are my swaybar bushings shot or am I asking a stupid question as my understanding is that ALL cars will have bodyroll at a certain speed onwards and performance cars WILL have some sort of bodyroll even with swaybars on, except that the difference being between having a sway bar and not having one. Opened up a new thread on this as I couldn't find a similar thread asking this. Will appreciate all responds. Cheers
  18. Depending on where you are. Westside, Chasers Motorworks. Southeastern, RE Customs or Sabbadin Automotive. I wouldn't suggest going to just any workshop unless you're: 1, in an extremely urgent situation. 2, not fussed at all and want just a cert to pass. I had a bad experience in having my previous MR2 being passed by the last owner, only to have found that the shocks were stuffed and the springs were chopped. So much for passing it and it WAS just any workshop. But I do recommend Torino Motors in Clayton. Owner is a very anal guy, good if you want an absolutely safe car, but a dick if you just want a roady.
  19. Grille and tacho sold. Rest still for sale.
  20. I would assume that it holds a 60mm gauge?
  21. Hi guys. Wanting to get rid of some stuff and free some room. Monster autogauge 5" tacho with shift light, complete with wiring - $10 Series 1 rear spoiler, a couple of very slight scratches - $25 Unknown gear knob - $10 GTR copy front grille - $20 Also got a stock panel filter that I've got no use for after putting in a hi-flow one. Works fine, no tears, only a bit dusty from years of usage. - FREE Or take the whole lot for $50. Just want to get rid of them. If no one wants them within this 3 weeks, they'll go into the tip. PM me or sms me at 0431316774. Will prefer sms to calling as I won't be able to answer at work. Items only available for pickup at Clayton, SE suburb. May post smaller ones like knob or filter.
  22. Might as well leave the doors open and leave a note saying "please take anything but my car".....

    Pre Apprenticeship

Thanks people!!! Appreciate it. EightSix, I'll keep you informed on my progress. Will definitely do with some info on which places to avoid working for. Pay wise, I know someone who's a mechanic and he told me that mature aged wages are about $13- $14 an hour, like what Miguelone has mentioned. A little lower than what I'm getting now, so not too much of a difference for me.
