I had an accident last friday and am now looking for replacement wheels. 1 is bucked beyond repair(centre is bent) and the other is repairable but I'm not going to attept it until I find 1 wheel to replace the broken one. I know it is far fetched to expect that someone would know an exact match but it cant hurt to ask Wheel dimensions are 18x9JJ and +22 offset, 2 piece Enkei's, dunno what model but they are discontinued. I have seen several for sale before so they are not non-existant in Australia. I'll settle for damaged rims so long as the wheel centre is not damaged. Picture can be found here. If not, I'll be looking for some new wheels so if anyone can point me to a place selling similar size and relatively lightweight give me a msg!

There is a certain height that no matter what angle you take the car it will scrape...also It doesn't handle very well. My car came from Japan with about 5mm between the guard and tyre. The result: I couldn't corner fast because it would scrape with the bodyroll. Why buy a fast car to drive slow? So I raised it to more acceptable levels. Still low but not a lo-rider now. As I said, on an R32 33-35cm from centre of wheel to arch is good(leaves about 1cm-1.5cm between wheel and guard).

Re: experience with tyres
ecenshu replied to ben3232's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I love my new S03's, a bit pricy but they perform a hell of a lot better than my RE711's that came with the car. Minimal noise as well -
Whiteline specify 34cm from centre of wheel to wheelarch for optimal height with their kits. I'm not using their kits but I'm running same height and it feels a LOT better than what I was running previously (31F 32R). Plus I'm not afraid of my driveway no more!

R32 GTR coilover enquiry
ecenshu replied to ecenshu's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Whoops...forgot to mention what tyres I'm running. I have 255/35 18 in Bridgestone S03's. They handle nicely and the road noise isn't as bad as my old RE711's -
R32 GTR coilover enquiry

Thanks for the input but I have settled for Koni Sports adjustables with Whiteline springs from their sports kit. Seems to be fairly good match so far with minimal roll, fairly neutral handling but on power it is slightly twitchy(could also be that I'm not driving on an optimal surface). Ride is still a bit harsh although I am getting used to it. I think I may have to go to a softer spring rate but unsure until I get to experience something better. SK: car is predominantly a road car, quite bumpy roads around Adelaide(One of the reasons I went for Koni's instead of Bilsteins) and I will be getting swaybars/anti-roll bar upgrades "soon" , so how soft can I go with springs on the Koni Sports before it adversely affects handling? BTW: I am definitely happy with the Koni Sports plus I got it for an absolute bargain! I can even factor in another 2 sets of springs and it would still be cheaper than the most expensive quote I got for them! -
This is quite a hot topic! Keep up the comments and I "might" even reconsider using it as my daily. But for all the people that are disagreeing so far, you might be able to tolerate such a difficult car to drive if you use it as a chellenge. My challenge is not to stall the engine at all in a week. Its been 3 months and counting but I STILL can't meet the challenge. Getting better now and I know that if I go to almost any other car, I'll be able to drive smoothly(example, my friends all drive with either heavy or multi plate clutches, 1st time in my car they were SO confident and guess what? They stalled it!) Take the challenge and drive it daily! But you might want another car handy on mondays!

I use my R for a daily driver because my home is out of garaging space (1 celica, 1 Saab, 1 civic and my R). I find the clutch to be a bit of a pain sometimes(triple plate) but it gives you a lot of practice with it! Fuel seems to be the primary cost because im averaging 17L/100Kms and I'm not worried about parking/theft/vandalism at my workplace due to private offstreet parking. You can get a decent amount of fun out of it but don't even bother with peak hour. I just sit and wait for at least 2 car lengths in traffic before i move due to the clutch and it seems to piss quite a lot of people who like to do the drive brake thing. I usually try to leave it in 1st and roll as slow as possible without speeding up or slowing down. PS: I get better fuel consumption when going on cruises with "spirited" driving so I'd avoid against using the R in heavy traffic unless it is your only choice.

The thing is: I didn't get it through prestige Mine came through UPImports(A forum sponsor) and I found it for sale on this board so thats a hint to all prospective buyers here! I'd definitely reccomend Dean to anyone looking at importing a Skyline as he is a Skyline man himself look for his R34 and PHAT Veilside R32!

R32 GTR coilover enquiry

bump. Anyone? Opinions will be greatly appreciated! -
Another point to note is you may want to save some money to get new/revalved shocks + springs as they will either be worn or hard as a rock(like mine). I'd rather a comfortable ride and great handling than a skittery dangerous car.

Sick of people selling dodgy GTRs
ecenshu replied to pentae's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
From my experience...even decent 89 GTR's will need SOME work...mine is at 3.5K and counting on top of purchase price. Good luck to all that are hunting. The more GTR's the merrier, I'd rather see an R32 GTR than a HSV Monaro. -
Hi all, I have been doing some research for my upcoming suspension upgrade and have'nt found a clear answer. If SydneyKid or others with LOTSA good info could please step forward, it would be greatly appreciated! I am looking for bump, rebound and height adjustable coilovers that aren't too stiff. I know Whiteline is meant to be one of the prefered kits however I have been informed that the sports kit for my car won't be available until November this year. I am in dire need of new shocks becuase mine are starting to leak and bounce. I have looked at user comments on both Tein HA/HE and HKS HiperMax coilovers and both would probably be unsuitable for me due to the high spring rates they usually come with. Apart from the Tein Flex which is what I am leaning towards. I know a lot of people have reccomended Bilsteins and I would consider them also but they are quite pricy for fully adjustable ones. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Other brands (preferably with model codes) I should consider? Also, can anyone reccomend me a suspension store located in Adelaide that doesn't charge rediculous prices because they're in Adelaide. PS: My budget is $3.5k for the coilovers, preferably less due to needing new tyres as well =( PPS: My car has lowered springs that are quite a bit stiffer thatn standard but I have no idea what rate they are. Would this bit of info still be applicable to me SK?

loss of power while accelerating
ecenshu replied to letemlaf's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Keep us updated on this issue because my car recently has this problem as well. Runs fine most of the time but once in a while (but more often when cold) stutters at 2-3k rpms. I also noticed my oil pressure rising when this happens...if I let it idle a bit(step on clutch) then accelerate again, all is fine until oil pressure rises and it stutters. Only problem is that it doesn't do it all the time. I'm looking at the spark plugs over the weekend and will post again about it. PS: car also had timing belt changed recently! EDIT: I know this thread is old, but it is still unresolved IMO! :blah: -
What is Flat Changing and Double Clutching
ecenshu replied to Billy_W's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Damn...I do that every morning -
My advice is to save the money and do a full mechanical test and repair what you find before looking at ANY mods. I'm in the process of doing that now and it all adds up after a few bits and pieces fail. Anyway, exhaust ranges between $800-$1.5K depending on brand, metal used and how its bent...I've "heard" that the stock dumps are fine upto 250awkw but don't quote me on that.

Hmmm...if only it wasn''t so far

You wouldn't by chance have a clock? Still looking for an R32 GTR clock

Best Motoring DVD & SBS "Iron Chef"
ecenshu replied to T0nyGTSt's topic in General Automotive Discussion
There is a follup to that video that has the same race again....but with an N1 R34 GTR...and guess what ends up winning and what their conclusion was?!? If JDM cars didn't have a regulated power limit, then they can beat European cars! Good vids to watch though. BTW: my vid filenames are : track_battle_911_gtr.wmv and track_battle_911_R_tunegtr_modena.wmv if you want to look for them -
Short story about my car on the weekend
ecenshu replied to ecenshu's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Ended up replacing all belts because the AC belt rubbed against both the timing belt and the power steering...while I was at it, I wen't for the full service so there goes my 100K kms service (I doubt my car was legit at 64K kms). Oh well...at least I have peace of mind now! Now...on to fixing more important things...like my clock -
Wen't for a long drive on the weekend to Londsdale (about 25-30kms) and we were giving it some stick on the way (Me: R32 GTR, friend: R32 GTSt). All was fine until we took a wrong turn and ended up near a factory of some sort and had relatively no traffic. As you could imagine, we went for a quick burst and the next thing I know I hear a clunk and a rattle then something bouncing out from under the car! It turns out the idler bearing for AC belt siezed and just ripped off, my friend almost had a new hole ripped out of his intercooler and missed it by a couple of metres. Anyone else had the feeling of 'Oh shit!' when driving (mechanically related) not accidents...just parts falling off the engine...hehe

Was wondering if I would be able to get one of these easily, if yes I might just get mine replaced coz it was dead from Japan. My friend's R32 GTSt doesn't have a clock in the same position as mine so I was wondering if any other R32's can report back where their clock is located and wether it would be the same one. BTW: Mine is located on the left of the steering wheel, directly next to the steering column.

I have 18's unsure of width but 255's look like they fit nicely so between 9-10 inch I guess. Scrubs slightly but my car is very low. Im positive that GTR's need at least +35 offset, where can I find the details for my rims? They're Enkei's but I can't find any dimension markings on them. http://www.users.on.net/ecenshu/GTR/150/IMGP0384.JPG
