I have the 2500's... yeah not as much 'bite' as normal street pads but they are very linear... push harder and you slow down more;) didn't give me any problems at PI and I used them more than I should of because I was scared! lol I hate spongy, bitey pads on the street... euros always have that soft peddle feel, I don't like it... and they tend to be much more dusty

yep it would!... have to find .75 of a second somewhere... think I might just have salad and water for the next week! I reckon a speed limit defender or whatever they are called would help me with another couple of tenths on the straights... or maybe I'll wind up the boost, see how long that ceramic wheel lasts on 14 psi hehe can I take out the passenger seat and still pass scrutineering?
-
oh dear I'm a bit simple... just realised this is on a Wednesday and its a public holiday... I'm in Trying for a 1:28 now... I want into the circuit times top ten!
-
yeah WRX days I never seem to get more than a couple of clean laps in a row... Maser day I was flying around by myself until the brakes had melted! It helps heaps being able to do lots of back to back laps (in the same session as opposed to overall) and not have to wait around much in between... I can just push a tiny little bit harder every lap until I find the limit... Sandown walls are scary but I don't look at them and the speeds and g loads through the corners are much less... PI I was just trying to grow some balls... trying to ease off the gas and just turn in instead of riding the brake coming up to the corner because I am not comfortable with just turning the wheel at 150km/h!
-
no way Sandown is scarier than PI! am I a traitor for wanting to do the Maserati day there the week after instead? heaps less cars than the WRX days usually... I had 10+ laps in every session last time I went... bit pricier than the WRX days tho... hmmm

damnit... entry went up while I was o/s... I will fax form today to go on emergency list...

another vote for piston slap here... the Arias forgies in my car made me wince on cold startup for months after the rebuild lol... they tend to throw out all your knock readings as well, noisy bastards! apparently you can run them at slightly less than the recommended piston to bore clearance to eliminate slap but I just went by the instructions from Arias... its been over a year now and it still uses next to no oil... even at the track
-
I'll look forward to that ride Al, should be a pretty complete package when all done :sorcerer:

25th is WRX... 29th is Maser

yeah would like to come for a ride (I see you have a background in karting too, might need some driving tips as well hehe)... still drive it everyday but I live so close to work its not a big deal to leave it in the garage... I have being toying with the idea of buying a pushy for a while now... would keep my fat arse in shape! yeah might just get some thicker swaybars, dial some more negative camber into the front end and then drop it another 10mm... it is still a little high as I get some tire scrub in the back (have been meaning to get the guards rolled...but you know... I'm lazy) yep looks like that LSD mod is pretty temporary

thread about shimming the stock viscous unit here> http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=160540 also Nathan if you want to find out your spring rates go to the Suspension, braking and tires section see the sticky at the top of the page... just measure up your springs and SK will tell you the spring rate I might put the hard word on SK to do a more track orientated setup for the GTSt
-
yep number one thing on my list is a harness for next time... can't steer properly when your hanging onto the steering wheel for dear life! can you pm me with your suspension setup too? I think my suspension will be too soft when I move up to the RE55's but yours looked good and stable... do you have a diff in there too or just stock... I was single spinning out of some of the corners even in 3rd gear:( Cheers again for the pics

totally agree maccattack... great road tires the 615's and not bad at the track either (my 215's went hard too but 615's were all good)... although Phillip Island was a bit much for them last weekend and they didn't offer the high speed/lateral grip of genuine semis... they get hot very quickly (good for motorkhana) but melt and go all greasy when pushed too hard I'm with evil_weevil in the respect that these will do me until I feel my driving is up to scratch... then when I get more serious I'll move to some RE55's
-
some great shots there Nathan... congrats on the time as well, just a pity about the box!
-
hey I spied some flaggies with cameras in hand as I went past (thats how slow I was going...lol) I would be really appreciative () if one of these outstanding volunteers could fire me some pics... want to see how the boat looks on track with the new rice additions!
-
okay next mod is definately a harness... I actually had trouble steering through some of the faster corners because I was holding onto the wheel so tight! it may not be a requirement but its definately necessary don't know why I was in the fast group hope I didn't hold anyone up... managed to get a clean run late in the day (not having to wave someone past) and knocked off a huuuuuge 2:06.05... haha if anyone wonders why I seemed not to be changing gears down the straight it was because I was smashing the speed limiter for most of it (that is also something I have to get rid of) Kalli was like why does your car make a funny popping sound down the straight LOL cheers to all the flaggies and helpers as usual top effort was a real humbling experience to be on track at PI with all the quick Skylines in the club, you guys are all nuts and I have much respect... I think I need several more trips out there to get the courage to push 100%... and of course Bris and Matt who are as quick as some of the GTR boys but with just RWD... that's big balls right there (or simple madness I haven't decided yet LOL!) top day and a top track... cheers to the WRX boys/girls for putting it on ps. I may have been iceburg slow but my car ran beautifully on the way to work this morning! LOL
-
I take it back, my apologies! although I never understand how I see your car together and working and then a month later its in pieces again! didn't your mum ever tell you not to fiddle with your parts so much...
-
finishing work at 11! lucky b*gger... well I'm still technically at work but am going to spend the afternoon drilling holes in my bonnet.... and I should never be let enywhere near power tools:/
-
check the thermostat... my car used to run shit for a good ten minutes every morning, turned out the thermostat was rooted and allowing water through the radiator all the time... my piston rings were also cactus and that didn't help:/
-
PI in the wet..... scary... geez I hope I get a chance to scrub the new tires or I'm going to be waterskiing all over the place!
-
I will have a roll of blue tape on the day if anyone needs some
-
Hey John thanks for the DS 2500's... really like them as a street pad, they are nice and linear and no squeeling or carrying on... if they hold up well on the track I am going to be very pleased! I might be in contact soon re the deflectors... just have to wait til the bank balance is in better shape!
-
cheers Al well I WAS going to fit them on the weekend... had assumed autobahn or supercheap would have some but neither did... can anyone point me in the right direction?
-
haha just the title of this thread made me laugh... harden up Chris... you should have given her a bit of Zidane action... head butt to the chest FTW! sorry to hear about the rim vandal... who keys rims for f**k sake... I would like to catch someone doing that one day and I would key their forhead so hard it would be etched into their skull bone geez I'm a bit agro on a Monday;)

okay so I have a new mod and its worth at least 50rwkw... so those pesky WRX's better watchout! I had to buy new tires too:( now I am nice and broke... I feel your pain Dane!
