  1. well they have to be better than the Nankangs I just had on there... no grip but they can definately take some punishment!
  2. yes sorry I meant socket... just a couple of mm in it, so frustrating... I will go to Bursons and see if I can't get a socket with thin enough wall...
  3. um okay... just tried to put my new rims on and the bloody spanner won't fit far enough into the rim to tighten the nut all the way... grrrr .... do I need different nuts... (excuse the pun)... maybe an allen key type arrangenment or just longer thinner nuts... just have the stocko ones on their at the moment... annoying thing is its only a matter of mm keeping the spanner from getting all the way in there... meh
  4. *new thread started for this problem*
  5. you didn't list people in gargantuan 4wds... I don't care how they drive they just sh!t me
  6. hmm okay thought that might be the case but was hoping as they were a soft compound the added grip would offset the stiff sidewall issue... cheers Ash you have saved me from ripping the crap out of my new semi comps!
  7. I just purchased some rims that came with new Falken RT 615 semi comps in soft compound on the rear. I was intending them to be circuit rubber but I was also going to make my way down to Calder soon and was wondering how they would go as a drag tire... specifically what psi should I have in them and how long do I need to smoke them for to get the right amount of heat? I know they are a relatively new tire so nobody may have specific experience with them but any comments/advice would be appreciated.
  8. run away... run far away and don't look back... thats it for the advice/opinion part... now for the alternatives... I have the Whiteline/Bilstein setup that is advertised in the group buy section of this forum and couldn't be happier... other alternatives are some of the Japanese coilover kits from the usual suspects DMS, Tein, HKS etc... I personally think the Jap stuff is too hard but the Teins are now supported in Australia by Fulcrum who give them friendlier spring rates etc for Aussie conditions (so I am led to believe) its really up to what you want to do with the car... if your just after some lowering for looks etc some Koni shocks and king springs would do the job (I had just a set of King springs in there with the stock shocks for a long time and it looked great but handled terribly)... but if you want the thing to really handle you need to look at the whole suspension... eg swaybars, subframe bushes, HICAS lock etc so yeah there are many approaches but to be honest Pedders would not be one of them
  9. I had noticed more understeer when I went to a staggered set of rims (8inch front 9inch rear) but this was only when pushing it very hard on motokhana style events with really tight corners (R33 GTSt's do understeer horrribly in these kind of events)... for everyday driving you won't notice it BTW adjustable swaybars helped me tune out the understeer simply by tightening the rear a couple of notches... so I have the added grip in a straight line that wider tires will give plus its not pushing like a smack dealer anymore!
  10. guys nowhere has it said the driver was speeding or even at fault... you are all just as bad as the media by jumping to the conclusion that they were driving dangerously... would you have made that assumption if it was a Falcon!? hold off on your judgements until you have the facts
  11. Just as a note to others the SAFC may help stop the stock ecus rich and retard but will not remove it completely... I still hit it on really cold nights when I go above .75 Bar
  12. or you could just put a rotor in there *runs away to hide*
  13. I have stock ecu with SAFC and EBC and stock dump pipe... makes 208rwkw on 10psi... (however I have rebuilt motor with perfect compression and Tomei cams) ... even if you allow for a happy dyno its still almost 200rwkw... oh and I also have a 'crappy' Hybrid GT Spec cooler which works great... I guess its all a matter of working out what is good value for money and what is just cheap... that being said I would definately go for the Powere FC as on really cold nights I can hit the stock ecu's rich and retard (just feels like its pulling heaps of timing) and that is only at 10psi
  14. go the 2835 kit from nengun, I have been eying it off for a while now, can't beat the new gen HKS turbos for response... a 30/37 with small rear housing will come on like a light switch, not the thing for the street IMHO
  15. yeah we just got new G5's but I'm not happy... have had to reinstall the system software already and one of the other new machines won't startup now... they are too damn exxy to have serious problems out of the box!
  16. I have these cams in my series 1.5... was asked to specify which series as they are apparently different... I specified series 1 and they went in no problem
  17. Well for the last week at least I have been a professional Xbox 360 player... (home sick from work)... was going to spend money on new rims/tyres but strayed into EB games by accident... my flatmates were pleased tho! anyhoo I am a graphic designer, which effectively means I surf the net like everone else here... except I do it on a 23inch Mac LCD...
  18. BIG apologies to those who organised this DECA, I was unable to make it due to getting hit with one hell of a nasty flu late last week... This is the first day I have been able to get out of bed and hoof it back to my folks place to let the peoples know I won't be there... a bit too late hey! (I really need to hurry up and get the internet hooked up at my place) anyway hope everyone had a good time and didn't break anything expensive... I am going home to bed now
  19. hehe yeah we have massive rolls of the stuff at work... wish I could send you some;) Will post pics of the ARC setup tomorrow
  20. I have the ARC airbox that was mentioned earlier... if you need anyone needs pics of the install just let me know
  21. I have the Hybrid GT kit and was dynoed at 166rwkw before the cooler and made 208rwkw after the cooler... Disclaimer: different dynoes on different days so comparing results would be a waste of time however by the seat of the pants I can say it definately made a big difference once on boost and no noticable lag or loss of response... obviously not 40rwkw worth of difference but it was significant none the less
  22. I have just moved to Prahran and wondering if anyone uses a GOOD tyre joint in the area? I am looking to get some Azenis so it would be good if they stocked them too... cheers ps. anyone running the Azenis RT 615 please feel free to comment on the performance and wear rates
  23. its just practice... especially in the wet... I used to think my car oversteered badly until I got better at driving the thing (was made worse with lowered harder springs and the stock worn shocks)... now I have the suspension sorted I have the rear swaybar on full hard and the front on medium as 33s tend to understeer hard when pushed into a tight corner and I HATE understeer! I also have the pineapples (set to max traction) and they really enable you to feel the road through the chassis and have more confidence in what the rear end is doing... before the pineapples the rear end was all vague and mushy... note I also had the bilsteins from the group buy go in at the same time so the improvement was significant but I can't tell what improvement the pineapples had by themselves
  24. are you open to sending them to Melbourne?
