oh god Ferni tell us its not so! I hope to make it down for a squizz at everyones shiny beasts... hey Al is your car going to be there? I am keen to see the colour in the flesh... I have to go to the Monster truck thing at Flinders Park first... how the hell there going to do that in the tennis centre I don't know.... jump 2 cars, turn around, come back...?

fuel prices will stabilize.... there is no shortage of crude oil, only refined oil... as developing economies (namely China) stop exporting it and start importing it to match their local demand... get a power fc, set the rev limit to 3000rpm, retard the timing and tune for 95 octane or even regular unleaded if your brave... just let it go man;)
-
post your dyno chart it will help diagnose the problem... even if the dyno is reading low you should be making better power than that... I make 200rwkw with stock cat and dump pipe so I'm not sure thats the best place to start... look to see if you have a problem before throwing parts at it IMO... then a power fc or piggyback to lean out your mixtures and just make sure your pod isn't sucking hot air... then you should be right

10 hours! My Hybrid GT spec was installed in a couple of hours by a professional workshop, no stress, no issues... piping quality was excellent

I was in Malvern the other day and saw a big new lookin bimmer in my mirrors... so I pull over at my mates house and as I'm getting out the bimmer opens the throttle... real wide... never heard a V10 streetcar but even before I looked up I knew it was an '05 M5... was just awesome... high pitched and metallic similar to the M3 six but more raw and powerful...was jealous

Need Help Selecting And Electronic Boost Controlle
NickR33 replied to frankdonato's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I have the DSBC spec R as mentioned above dual solonoid holds boost perfectly and it has 4 files to set boost and gain... I drive it daily with the ebc turned off and turn it on when I want to run 10psi You can pick them up pretty cheaply now and may be a more cost effective option than some of the newer offerings... it doesn't have a nice flashy screen but then again it is easier to hide;) -
Traction Issues - Work In Progess
NickR33 replied to paulr33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hi Paul I have very similar mods to you and am saving up to throw a whole lot of the whiteline gear at my car... I ran a 13.7 @ 103mph recently and with the 3 things SK mentioned above (just alignment issues) I should be in the low 13's... which is where a well setup car running 100mph should be... I couldn't get enough traction to drop my 60ft times below 2.2 sec (good launch) and god forbid I got an ordinary launch which would see me run a low 14!... not quick... I got one of the worst launches all night whilst lining up against a BA XR8 ute and ran out of track before I could run him down... I ran a 14.4 and he got 14.1... I was dissapointed as I had the mph to beat him! -
nobody is calling you an elitist Roy! seriously though there are some good points in this thread and I have enjoyed reading some of the well thought out replies as Monkeyplunk has already mentioned... I hope to see some of the Vic guys at the track in the near future... and am sure to be following Roy and Geoff around hoping for pearls of wisdom... and calling it 'grip' driving just to piss them off he he! oh and Geoff maybe you could lend me a 33 for the day so I didn't have to run my daily... c'mon mate you have 3 of them!

in the defense of drift... if it isn't a sport neither is surfing or any of the X games events... very hard to prove and you would be terribly unpopular trying to do so
-
he he......... plug!
-
I think the reason its hard to get drift off the streets is because thats where it came from in the first place and the purists will always get cultural currency by going against the mainstream and being more hardcore than anyone else... Personally I think you gotta be nuts to drift on the street... anyone who has actually earnt the money for their car and wants to punt it round a corner sideways with gutters either side has more balls than me... but the line between balls and stupidity is very thin
-
yeah I totally hear you there... my car is a daily driver and in every possible confrontational situation on the road I am immediatly assumed as being 'a hoon'... its the same in all walks of life tho... people are judged on their appearance whether they like it or not... what if you are a drop dead gorgeous girl who is trying to be taken seriously in the world of business and get respect for her intelligence etc but all men see is some tits and arse? just because you are a young white male and have never really had any problems with being typecast or pidgeon holed... you now see what it must be like to be a young arabic guy growing up in Australia I really should get back to work! really not having a go at you I just think you should understand these kids look up to you so try and educate them, don't just dismiss them... afterall they think you and your car are cool! be flattered not pissed off!

I stand corrected on the meaning of touge and hillclimb! he he and Roy I wasn't calling you old, I'm in my mid 20's too... I reckon you SOUND old grumbling about incorrect terms for a sport... well I'm here to tell you as much as I AGREE with you and Geoff, ignorance and stupidity are rife within all forms motorsport... ...afterall drifting is all about how you look and you can't then complain at its lack of depth or cred... it is what it is and you don't have to be apart of it if you don't want to so basically what it comes back to is you don't like being thought of as a drifter cos you drive a tricked out 32... and I would say then your just as bad as the drifters, as you are really concerned about what other people think? but claim not to care? not having a go at you but its kind of like my mum complaining about a commercial when she isn't in the target market... I'm like its not directed at you your not meant to understand it! I think drift has come out of the fact that race cars just handle too damn good these days and the spectators who are just getting into motorsport love the smoke and sideways action... can you really blame them!
-
this thread should be retitled... "grumpy old men" seriously tho, you should be flattered cos some kid asked you if you drift, they don't know anything about motorsport sure, but they like your car and think it is cool etc... not really the worst crime out there! touge really refers to downhill racing so 'hillclimb' doesn't really cover it... that said I don't drift or love watching drift but it takes a huge amount of skill... and if you don't agree go try to drift a mountain pass in Japan at 2 in the morning whilst staying in your lane! there just words guys, there is a lot more to be concerned about than a few 'appropriated' terms from another culture... afterall if you drive a cult Japanese car you can choose to adopt as much or little of the culture as you wish... seriously if it bothers you that some kids refer to it as 'grip' driving you need another hobby

I am not sure if the dyno was in shootout mode but it is only an approximate figure anyway... I have a/m cams in mine so I get a little more airflow at a lower boost than with the stock cams...
-
agh... sorry did something weird... dyno sheet attached
-
just an SAFC in mine too but curve is smooth as could only manage a 13.7 with the same power as you... you must teach me master
-
I hate those evil cameras mounted on the dash, with the radar on the front numberplate... always on 90's magnas and the like... have been done a couple of times within a km of my house (65km/h yay!...not)... the only way you can tell them from behind when they are parked on the left is the tell tale cb style attenna
-
so I should be doing low 13s if my trap speed was 103mph? I ask because I could only manage a 13.7 with a 60ft of 2.2 when I went to Calder on Fri night (stock turbo R33gtst) I was getting axle tramp which was hurting my 60ft times
-
yep, you can actually read them now!
-
thanks guys, drag racing is not really my thing but you have to have an appreciation for the technical side of it and the skill involved in getting a good 60ft on the strip which has a way different surface to the street... its just good clean fun;)
-
just got back... and my ears are still ringing from all those big cube engines with no exhaust! best was: 13.75 @ 103mph with a 60 foot of 2.2sec getting some axle tramp, found it hooked up best with gradually feeding the throttle in after launching at 3000rpm... would have like to get a better 60ft time but oh well its still a pretty good time for stock turbo and ecu time for beer
