thought I may ad my details for interest sake... tuned at ICE last week... stock turbo 3.5inch zorst, stock dump SAFC EBC @ .7bar FMIC ARC airbox Rebuilt bottom end with ARIAS forgies 256º cams 208rwkw pretty darn flat curve too... the figure is probably a bit high but even if you take off 10rwkw to be conservative it is still making 200rwkw with stock turbo and ecu...

K&N panel filter, or Blitz power intake
NickR33 replied to sammus's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I just changed from an HKS mushroom to an ARC airbox because the noise was giving me the shits... much better now tho I still can't figure out how the airbox is getting cool air as it has an exposed panel filter that lies parallel with the bonnet... if you do like the sound, a heat shield can do wonders for a POD... stopping heatsoak to that corner of the engine bay works pretty well -
it actually fits in there quite nicely... wouldn't want to be the one fabricating manifolds for that tho...

Both front indicators not working after FMIC install
NickR33 replied to NickR33's topic in General Maintenance
that sounds feasible... I will have a look tonight, thanks Justin -
as the title suggests I had my FMIC installed and now both front indicators have stopped working... the side and back ones all work, could there be a wire that has come loose during the install? if so where to look as I have had a search around in there already. I also had a new battery put in at the same time but I can't see that it would have shorted the indicators or something equally weird  any help appreciated

yeah I'm trying to finish the Ferrari Supercar event as well... Bloody F40 handles like rubbish, to much understeer and I can't seem to get the setup right Swaybars are the easiest adjustment to make to control understeer/oversteer Its the gear ratios that I really confuse me though

I heard Porsche were looking at an electrical motor setup to keep the turbos spooled when you were off the the throttle in their new 911 turbo? ... may just be fanciful stories but interesting...

HD Systems coilovers
NickR33 replied to NickR33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Thanks SK, yeah I should just do away with the romantic notion of adjustable suspension hey! My mate has a room full of Whiteline gear for his R33 including the Bilsteins and they do look like a great bit of kit and I have already got the swaybars etc on order... damn but the coilovers were like.... all green and shiny!... lol, such a fashion victim -

RB25 Engine Rebuild for 300-350kw - Help/Opinions
NickR33 replied to allblitz's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
are you taking the motor out yourself Hus? if you do and can simply send it off to get machined then you should be able to get it rebuilt for less than 5K... pistons ($1200) rods (GTR Rods? $400) bearings (??? maybe $200?) water pump ($120?) timing belt ($60?) head gasket ($200) head studs ($40???) welsh plugs (???) machining (depending on what you want/need basic tidy up probably cost $2000) and of course anything else I have forgotten as I am not a mechanic and a clutch to hold 350kw -
I have 20 thou oversize Arias pistons with the supplied rings installed with the recommended clearance... piston slap can be heard on cold starts but was much worse when running the engine in, its pretty quiet now... I have since been told by a reputable engine builder (not the one who did mine) that they run the Arias pistons with less clearence than recommended so as to eliminate some of the piston slap... but he didn't say by how much...

yeah I got the mines R32 pretty early on too helped me finish alot of races... I have a fully modded mines R34 GTR now, complete with 750kw... its an animal! I also love the old school Tommy Kaira 20B WRX... it owns class B did I mention I am addicted to this game!

HD Systems coilovers
NickR33 replied to NickR33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
thanks for the responses guys... I was pretty sure the spring rates were going to be too hard but second guessed myself when the guys at Otomoto recommended I try them first... If I go too soft will the valving in the shock be mismatched with the softer spring? Probably a question I should ask them hey... I have kings springs over the stock shocks at the moment and grip isn't good... when I had Federals the rear would grip okay but since I have changed to Michelins I get axle tramp in 1st gear... I think the current setup is too twitchy and nervous around corners as well, the old stock shocks can't control the stiffer spring anymore... so yeah even 7kgF and 6kgR is still going to be too hard... maybe I should just get a set of Konis or Bilsteins matched to the Kings and be done with it...the height is pretty spot on as is... bottom line is I really want to get this dodgy R33 rear ended sorted... the front has always gripped and turned in nicely -
I have previously read a couple of threads on these coilovers and am just about to purchase the HS version ones... Has anybody been running these on their car? How are they to live with day to day and how do they perform (occasional track/motorkhana/drags use)? They come with 8kgF and 7kgR springs but I was going to get some 6kg springs for the rear and put the 7kg ones in the front... The guys at Otomoto said to try them with the harder springs first before I pay the extra $100 for the softer ones... opinions? then I will be putting some whiteline swaybars and some camber correction bushes so I can wind the coilovers down nice and low can't wait... the stock shocks/king springs combo is now very sloppy...scratch that read, completely and utterly rubbish! any comments appreciated

ha ha yeah the more powerful classic cars are really challenging... I am only like 15% through the game at the moment so haven't got to the really powerful events yet... Just finished the 'A' series events in professional single race... was a real bitch to come first in all races but the reward was a F355 Ferrari so its all good... The F355 is actually a lot quicker than my modded Modena and modded Mines R32 GTR! and sounds pure horn!

You must be damn excited to have it back looking soooo good... with all the dodgy stories I hear about panel beaters, it actually looks like you found someone to do an A1 job can't wait to check it out in the flesh... and pick on any imperfections I can find because I am terribly jealous and insecure...

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before but I just picked up this game on the weekend (XBOX only) and was really impressed... makes games like NFS Underground and Juiced look pretty crap... It is basically Gran Tourismo for XBOX, but better IMHO... Graphics are awesome, cars feel and drive like the real thing... damage and tyre wear are pretty darn good too.. the best part about it is the playability, heaps of different racing formats, options, mods and the ability to adjust just about anything, including tyre pressure, diff, swaybars, camber, castor etc, etc, etc I am thoroughly addicted... good thing I bought that 27inch lcd screen for my room lol so yeah Forza Motorsport  :whackit:

you can turn your back on a man, but never...ever... turn your back on a drug... especially one that is waving a 9inch hunting knife in your face... all i wanted to do was cut a little z in your forehead...thats all i can't drive this weekend... not happy:/
-
not good... rb's hardly use any oil at all... i found out the hard way that having to top up the oil between services is bad news hope its nothing serious:/

motor racing dangerous!???? try taking up basketball, im sitting here typing with one hand because i fractured my elbow... last year i needed 6 stitches in my chin because i face planted the court! and its supposed to be a non contact sport... bottom line is everything is dangerous... at least safety is actually a concern in motor racing so just keep doing what your doing but be a little smart about it... lets face it... when that 1st kid arrives the time for taking big risks is over but the fun doesn't have to stop! oh and your father in law sounds like a w**ker... if he was a man he would confront you and not sneak around behind your back and try and get your wife on side okay enough of the Dr Phil, im off to the pub
-
yeah i have done both ankles before (never my foot tho)... basketball is killer on the ankles but im sure i dont have to tell you! i just hate getting injured cos someone isn't good enough to play you straight up and has to use a cheap shot to stop you... hope the foot heals quickly ps. anyone who drives a silver r33 and is playing bball............. be careful!
-
yeah it was a cheap one and i let him know... he apologised though so was all good at DECA will be okay just put it in 2nd, pump the clutch and away you go (i don't think i used 3rd at all last time)... its just the drive up there that will be a pain in the ass... or elbow in this case
-
he he nah i wasn't getting rough... just on fastbreak, going for a layup and got hammered... the other guy landed on me, i landed on my arm... last time this happened i had to get 6 stitches in my chin... non contact sport my ass! there is still a chance i will make it to DECA... even if i have to change gears with my right hand!
