  1. Yeah I couldn't get any more than 89mph at the top end, and apparently I was blowing a bit of black smoke. So it could be the stock cat/exhaust restriction or it could be due to the fact I have'nt had the car serviced or tuned since I bought it a month ago... maybe I'm running a little rich? A 14.3 is very quick for a stock car with exhaust mods ...my mate was struggling to do that time with 11psi and 235's!
  2. Totally stock '95 manual 33 GTST Running stock boost and 205's (I hate bicycle tyres) @ Calder Park Vic Best Time: 15.4 @ 88mph 60ft> 2.4 I would be interested to know what times other people have run in comepletely stock cars?
  3. I bought my manual '95 33 GTST with 60,000 completely stock off a private importer for $17,000 inc. onroad costs. I had my mechanic look over it before purchase and it was very clean. I have had it for nearly two months and its been running so well I haven't even had it serviced/tuned yet. It's in totally stock condition and I can't see any signs of it having been previously modded. off topic: I took it down to Calder Park on Fri. and my best time was a 15.4 @ 88mph. Not bad considering I have 205's all round. I am still running stock boost. etc. I outlaunched my mate in his 2000 model clubsport R8... was at least four car lengths on him... before he ran me down at 3/4 track... oh well I guess I'll have to invest in some mods
  4. It's strange like that I never get people in good sports cars trying to go me... It's always the ones I can easily take... good for the self esteem though:D How'd that Lotus go... usually old guys driving those sorts of cars who just like to look good... can never get guys in 911's to go me... they probably know they'd cane me and can't be bothered...
  5. man its good your gf is a calming influence... mine just encourages me... she will look across see the p platers in their shitboxes turn to me and go "you're going to smoke these guys aren't you?" I most enjoy letting them get a little head start like they have gotten you off the mark then just line them up in second and see ya! Most of the time if the're wanting to drag they don't actually think the're going to win they just want to see your car in action... when I was on my p's driving my shitbox I would try and make people race me just so as I could check out the performance of their car... I wasn't trying to beat them:D by the way you don't have to race at twice the speed limit to have a little fun:p
  6. Everyone has kind of ignored the whole suspension and tyre choice issue... not to mention clutch and gearbox setup... these are pretty damn important...
  7. mmmm....won't bother then, my 3"dump pipe and high flow cat are on there way soon... might just save up for the cat back and muffler. Quick question (maybe a stupid one)...can I install the 3" dump pipe and cat and just leave it stock from the cat back or does it need to be 3" all the way?
  8. Sounds good to me... thanks guys...I guess I can always take it off again if I don't like it:D
  9. Sorry I should have made it clear...I have been offered a s/h Blitz BOV for $140 I just wanted to hear some opinions if this is a good price and if the Blitz BOV's are any good etc...
  10. Should I buy... Blitz BOV for $140 on a stock(just hks pod) S2 R33. I know there not a performance mod but thats a pretty good price?
  11. I have a stock R33 Series 2 (with HKS Pod) When I have one or more people in the car it revs strongly and smoothly to 5000rpm but between there and the redline it misses and I get power drops. The car is in great condition only 60,000kms on the clock. Even with only me in the car it doesnt seem to want to go all the way to redline (not that I do this very often). Under 5000rpm it is faultless. Is it due to the standard exhaust, spark plugs gapped too wide, etc. I just want to know which mod is most likely to fix this problem.
  12. If they can keep up!
  13. Hey pooski, What do you need a short shifter for... you change gears like an old lady:p seriously though I wanna know too...are they for auto or man? can you use one with a standard clutch?
  14. I guess the best advice would be, not to lock yourself into looking at one type of car. Go look and drive a whole range of cars... Buy the one thats in the best condition, turbo or N/A, 32, 33, or 34 200sx, whatever...there are heaps to choose from. Drive as many as you can, eventually you will find one that you just love the feel of. If you buy a car you truly love you won't mind forking out the cash. No one can tell you what to buy... We can only help you avoid the pitfalls. Enjoy looking for a car, it can be lots of fun and there is no rush.
  15. They deserve to get fined...its wankers like that, that makes it so damn hard and expensive to own a half decent sports car U25 yrs of age.
  16. Whether I thought I could outrun them, lose them, stop do sixteen burn outs and lose them in the smoke...whatever. The fact is after 5 minutes my GF would be panicking, seriously panicking. Then would come the whinging and then the "baby please...". By this time I would be so thouroughly sick of the guys following me and my GF nagging, I would probably have done something stupid and hot headed, so calling the cops is an excellent way of cooling the situation down. I don't know if I would have thought of it. Yeah its a bit like dobbing but if a guy has'nt raced you after 5 mins he probably won't...stupid ****wits.
  17. Oh and stay the fudge away from auctions. DO NOT buy anything your mechanic has not had a damn good look over. And if the person selling you the car doesn't want you to have it checked out or assures you everything is above board (this applies for dealers as well) tell them to piss off go find something else. Also never rely solely on the kms on the odometer, many of them have been rolled back. Good luck, be patient.
  18. Whichever way you look at it your going to have to bend over and take it from the insurance company. So I say at least have some fun along the way. Why stretch your budget to a NA R34 that looks great but you can't afford to insure it, fill it with petrol, pay for any repairs, go out on the weekend....etc Go for a turbo 32 or 33, anywhere from $15,000 to $20,000, that way you have an extra ten or fifteen grand to spend on other shit (like alcahol, drugs, women etc). And its a turbo, so you won't get bored! If you start small, with like a R32 or something early ninties, it still has loads of power, looks cool and will be hours of driving fun. Then in a couple of years you can sell it and buy something cooler.
  19. Sorry guys no chocolate titties here...and I only have one mate with an R33 and his came modded up already, so neither of us are really sure we know what were doing. Thanks for the info though...going to just do the 3inch all the way first, and maybe a bleed valve. You'll definately hear from me again though, I'm more of a driver than a mechanic (and I've never driven anything that can touch a skyline for all around performance...I'm in love!) ...trying not to look completely ignorant so as I don't end up getting the wrong part or even worse paying too much for it!
  20. Thanks Sly, that gives me a bit to think about...my poor wallet is going to get a beating.
  21. I have recently bought an R33 series 2, its in perfect original condition but of course I want to mod it. I need to know who does the best suspension packages, what brand/type of exhaust gives the best performance and what type of boost controller to run. Any other info on what mods you'd go for if you had a nice fresh R33 in the driveway, would be much appreciated.
