  1. Leesh you look fantastic*, well done... you can see all the hard work has payed off... most girls that want to look like you have no idea what it takes *but holy hell you have big hands... Birds your dick must look tiny
  2. try pause squats... they hurt and suck but are awesome I squatted 40kg x 20 x 5 today... I'm back baby!
  3. 10 is the new 20
  4. me both played champ rep ball for Sandy Sabres many moons ago... stopped when I hit 19 and would've had to try out for the mens ABA side... too busy getting fckd up and trying to touch girls in their naughty places... now I just play with a bunch of mates... we're not very good Reebok pumps... had a black and purple pair when they first came out... so baller lol I would love to say a dunk but I never managed it... I've hit all sorts of bullshit shots over the years... some half courters... a lot of 'get fouled and chuck it over your head'... better to be lucky than good! NBA playoffs were pretty cool this year... I'm sad panda it's over
  5. TTT: your making me sad dude
  6. I'm back squatting!... with a kettlebell:( did a bunch of goblet squats, and lunges... almost died might try squatting the bar today... injuries are boring and gay but at least I get lots of bench practice in... programmed for 150kg for next comp in Sept don't know how much longer I'll be in the 90kg class for though... put muscle on and got heavier while not deadlifting or squatting... did bench only at Nats and accidentally weighed in at 90.6kg... didn't do any form of weight cut though... except for not eating breakfast or drinking any water in the morning... benched 140kg... missed 145kg about halfway up
  7. A really good article written by the guys at examine.com (really good nutrition/supplementation site, all science no bro-science) http://bretcontreras.com/what-supplements-should-i-buy-2/
  8. Max has one of the best bench techniques of anyone I saw at Nats
  9. and a ridiculously nice guy
  10. go with a double overhand grip for the time being... while the weight is light you can relax your grip and let the bar hang in your fingers... that will stop you trying to curl the weight up get your weight back onto your heels and keep your chest up... set your hips higher, it's not a squat as Birds has mentioned
  11. f*ck... shouldn't he be home playing playstation and waiting til his parents go out to watch porn...
  12. Conor is a good kid... and bloody strong... looking at a 600kg total at Nats which is pretty fckn impressive... especially since he's been training and doing year 12 at the same time
  13. thanks mate, you too
  14. I injured my back through poor technique (a high rep set that fatigued me and I let my form slip)... ignoring pain/tightness and continuing to lift... and most of all no general maintenance in the form of a chiro/osteo etc BEFORE I got hurt if I had of been seeing someone they would've identified that I lean to my left (muscular/skeletal imbalance) and eventually this would lead to injury I've still had way more injuries on a basketball court than in a gym... I can see myself able to lift long after I can no longer run and jump my way around a court
  15. I was asking Jason (Chiro) if he saw many cyclists... I see so many of them hunched over their bikes with the most godawful flexion in their spine... he said a lot of them have back issues
  16. guys have come back stronger from much worse... Wayne who is in his mid 40's broke his back falling off a roof a few years ago... deadlifts heavy now with no issues... you look at most athletes, they've had bad injuries throughout their career and come back to perform just as well if not better... I guess you just have to be patient with recovery and make sure you do all the right things I still think weight training is the fountain of youth... I'd rather have aches and pains from lifting but be in great shape than have aches and pains from being sedentary while slowly atrophying/decaying do you need to still get in there and try and get PBs etc... probably not but it's what keeps me coming back I'm 31... I'm nowhere near ready to fold 'em... f*ck giving up on doing anything exceptional and becoming like every other drone who spends all day avoiding anything potentially scary or dangerous... that's not living that's just avoiding death all you fckers with healthy backs get in there and deadlift... then post your improvement in this thread
  17. Tom Platz says you all have chicken legs
  18. Thanks dude... yeah of course your right but it's still frustrating... this was the first time I'd done Max's program for a comp and it was a lot more organised and structured than what I was doing... also a lot more volume which was really working... I'd never felt stronger I'd just settle for being pain free for day to day shit at the moment... never considered the amount of shit that's painful to do with a crook back... whoever designed a dishwasher can get fcked lol Birds I feel your pain mate... just gotta get in there and do what we can
  19. you better start eating then mate... big legs are hard work... especially for a taller bloke
  20. I deadlifted 40kg x 5... then I had to ice my back... it's well and truly fckd... long rehab ahead... so very, very, very gay on the bright side I'm going to be doing a heap of upper body work... so I should be pretty jacked by summer lol
  21. I'd love to see a bike race between powerlifters... it would be a very fast, very short race... probably followed by a lot of heavy breathing, sweating and swearing lol
  22. that's no good mate, hope the Osteo sorts you out... glad you haven't done anything too serious
  23. I squatted the bar today... where's my fckn video!? in all seriousness the guys look really solid... going to be some big totals from the PTC crew
