  1. yeah corner speed is really the issue, I don't think putting the power down is the problem... I've got a set of those KU36's (allowed in clubsprint?) in 275 and I don't get any wheelspin in anything higher than 1st gear and I'm making just shy of 600hp... even with a fair amount of steering angle in 2nd gear WOT they put it down fine but I agree, I think it would take a really skilled driver, someone who could hang it right out on the ragged edge and keep the corner speed up... I'm assuming no lightening is allowed in clubsprint class? But as always harry is spot on, when grip is limited its a modified Evo or just go home... good that there's a rwd class, I miss opposite lock!
  2. LA to LV must be done in a 60's/70's drop top Cadillac... Fear and Loathing style! Did you see what god just did!? ... god didn't do that you did, I knew it, your a f**kin narcotics agent
  3. too true! Hey BB would a fairly powerful (600hp or so), well sorted 32/33/34 GTR with a good driver stand a chance in clubsprint? No I'm not thinking of entering, I said GOOD driver lol... just curious if anyone will be able to give the 35's a scare... my hunch is no but never hurts to bring up controversial topics hehehe
  4. Widow maker!!!!! was at the bottle O at the end of my street the other night, me and the guy were chatting about cars when we hear someone hammer past totally WOT... we just looked at each other and said 'GT2', no mistaking that sound! funny there are a few guys around my area in Weltmeister tuned Porkas, they love to fang round the back streets and nobody bats an eyelid... but when I open it up and shoot the odd flame ball I get death stares and head shakes... but I wouldn't have it any other way
  5. new Challenger should be pretty easy to hire... best looking of the modern/retro muscle cars IMO... Then again a ZR1 would be toooo much fun:)
  6. wow the cats bolt straight onto the exhaust housings hey... the stock system does look much higher quality... even most japanese a/m parts are designed and welded better than that thanks for posting, interesting to see underneath the Porkas clothes, not a lot of room back there and you can see from the first pic how much is hanging out past the back wheels... amazing they get them to handle so well
  7. some sprint days don't require it but others do... I would get bonnet pins for peace of mind, those lightweight hoods flip up very easily and can cause a surprising amount of damage... the flush mounted aerocatch ones are the way to go IMO, I think Jack (JAGR33) runs them but if you don't want to drill holes in the bonnet you can always use a DIY strap made out of cable etc
  8. i destroyed a comp wheel on an HKS 2835 with some blow by oil (no catch can setup)... the broken blades were found embedded in the rubber intake pipe! because I was on a skidpan at the time and on/off the throttle tuner reckons it spat them back towards the AFM as I came off the gas pretty sure we only had to replace the comp wheel but I can't remember 100%
  9. sooo google maps is telling me its a 10 hour drive from Melbourne > Eastern Creek... does that sound about right? never driven up to Sydney before and a road trip to spectate at superlapdance sounds like a good idea:)
  10. your not happy with the product or the way its been installed? looks good from the pics but hard to tell without having a close look I guess How much gain from changing exhausts, I would have thought the standard system was already pretty good on a GT2?
  11. sounds fine, if your sick of spending money on it just leave it... you'll hardly notice the extra few kw anyway... your going to get pulled over every now and then regardless but if its not too low, too loud or covered with stickers you should be okay... a good driving record goes a long way too... I got pulled a few months ago and cop looked at my like I was lying when I said I had all my points... he was a nice guy tho, chased me down because I was 'in a hurry' to get to a basketball game... I was polite to him, said I'd pull my head in so gave me a warning and let me get to my game... I've always had good experiences with police, they're always polite and reasonable to me I went to those garages your on about back in the day... took the car to racepace after a few problems and all Benno said was 'its super lean and timing is all over the place so I fixed it'... never been to another workshop since;)
  12. ahh 600ps sounds more like it... so similar strength to factory (excluding pistons) but faster revving and more capacity... sounds like a good product:)
  13. Why only 400ps? considering the standard GTR crank and rods can see almost 600ps then it must be the piston design holding this kit back? maybe they are light cast items similar to stock not forged that or the crank is significantly lighter (and therefore weaker) than the standard crank?
  14. you can tell a restrictive exhaust by the shape of your power curve... ignoring the final number as long as the power/boost curve aren't flattening off too early or nosing over then you should be fine that said, as Ash has mentioned a 3" exhaust isn't really big enough to push 350+rwkw
  15. does boost fall off higher in the rpm range? best way to tell if its the exhaust is to drop it for a dyno run and compare I've got a 4" Apexi exhaust, flows great but not going to help you with the whole 'police magnet' issue
  16. totally agree, this taken a few years ago at Sandown... my 180rwkw GTST was a couple of seconds faster than the Ford and the Ford was several seconds faster than the 350Z... The Z really struggled up the hill on the back straight and the Ford was a bit heavy for S tyres (and struggled with brakes)... The line was pretty good everywhere;) To the OP I reckon you have made a wise choice, don't overextend while at Uni... IMO I'm +1 for the 34GTT, great car for the money Isn't it funny how Holden/Ford guys used to call us ricers... have you seen the new lot of cars coming out from HSV FPV, they are riced from factory with holes and spoilers all over the show! makes the R look positively understated
  17. there's 1 par 5 on the back 9... par is 32 on the back and 35 on the front hole 2 has changed as they are doing something about the giant mud bog that used to be a lake lol sounds like you have been to the over 35 night before... did you play in pairs or go home to work on your stroke? ah golfing innuendo, so much fun
  18. mate TRUST make T517z's not HKS no oil problems... they've been on my car pushing 360kw atw @ 20psi for 6+ years... depends on which versions you use as for how much power they make... I have the 8cm rear versions... the 10cm rears will make over 400kw atw that said the garrett equivalents seem to perform just as well (if not better) and are really well priced the only advantage the trust turbos have is they are plain bearing so cheaper to rebuild and you don't have to run water to them... downside is they don't spool as fast as ball bearing turbos and don't have that little torque wave as they come on
  19. ah... how about propelled countless silvias and skylines to mid 14 second quarter mile passes... take that Mr Brisby!
  20. If I see you on Dezz I'll jump in I didn't prestige for a while then got bored and thought why not... then immediately regretted it I struggle to get my kill/death ratio up as I can't stand being in one place for too long and prefer rushing into stupid places blazing away and throwing grenades lol Bunta: that's why we have another TV/DVD player in the bedroom, and why I download all my wife's favourite shows for her;)
  21. as usual people underestimate the cost of intellectual property... the money is in the design not the fab and stop comparing modern tuner RB20's to Gibson motors... its about the history/collectability not the outright performance Ash I agree with you on 99% of topics but feel your being a bit flippant here I reckon if you could get hold of the full, genuine gibson RB20 setup you could build a replica shell that would make a pretty cool package overall... sure not worth as much as the genuine article and maybe not as quick or as cheap to build as a newer setup from <insert workshop name here>... but that's hardly the point afterall most tuner setups nowadays would get destroyed by a new R35 so discussions about speed/power output are pointless... its about history, memories, fun etc and people will always have different opinions about the value of these things
  22. Malvern Valley is better than Albert Park IMO... we play at all those courses, Brighton, Sandy, Chelt, Elsternwick etc... Malvern is still the preference though Brighton very dry now, Elsternwick only for a cheeky 9 after work as its pretty bad... Sandy really busy on the weekends... Malvern has the best fairways, back 9 is really nice (for a public course)... went round the back 9 in 37 a few months ago... but haven't been able to repeat the feat... frustrating farkin game!
  23. even the V8 supercar guys step the tail out a bit on corner exit... especially when on a hot lap during qualifying however they are usually pretty neat on the way in... crossed up on turn in usually means you've made a mistake... or your a drifter
  24. not as much of a challenge when you pull up in a Audi ... like to see you attempt it in an import! Some say he can test emissions by sense of smell alone and that he once gave so many defects all the printers in Melbourne ran out of yellow ink
  25. driver training making young blokes overconfident!? young blokes are overconfident anyway! I used to drive like a maniac with his hair on fire, I did my own car control lessons without the benefit of an instructor and in places I shouldn't have... I would have been much better off learning in a controlled environment, with some lessons on attitude to go along with it I was very lucky I never had an accident but lets face it, young people are going to crash into stuff from time to time... its about harm minimization I still can't believe how many people drink and drive, too many selfish and stupid people out there
