I've bent a standard 25 rod... had an arias forged piston on top of it, piston looked brand new but rod, bearing and even crank were fubar that said the standard 26 rods have been in the R for many years pumping 360rwkw... just had a bottom end rebuild due to spun bearing, rods and pistons were in top condition just resized them and chucked them back in
  2. just stay off the ripple strips! anyway if they are cast they will most likely bend before they break... if its was a forged wheel then you'd have more of a problem as you might not get a warning before they let go I've bent a Gmax cast rim on a ripple strip before... just feels like you've flat spotted a tyre, shaking through the steering wheel etc

  4. that was nice of them!... still I got a full rebuild in less than half that time... I guess they could have been waiting to get a second hand motor delivered... long time to wait either way

I have them... they are stupidly hard... waaaaay to hard in the rear for a rwd, you will get zero weight transfer and fark all grip as a result... they are the only part of my car I dislike... apparently good gear though and with a revalve and lighter spring they perform really well as Ryan has suggested

  9. call them and ask... I wouldn't bother with RACV... if the dealer won't let racepace inspect it walk away... quickly what are you talking about Adz... I get bread and milk in mine... just do a couple of limiter launches on the way home

Benno told me its synth from the first turn... when I picked mine up, I waited til oil got up to temp and then gave it a hammering (as per instructions) one of my old 25 builds (not from Ben) I babied for ages and it was never right... had piston slap when cold and never got any better... only lasted 25K before I destroyed it

  14. James would we be driving all day or riding passenger for some of it? Also re. passengers could we bring someone to ride shotgun? If my wife found out I was driving a drop top Ferrari around she would want to come along...
  15. That's pretty good for GTR ownership... I'd be stoked if it only cost me that much! and 25,000kms is quite a lot for 1.5 years so your getting pretty good value I reckon I agree RWDs can be a handful etc but when they let go it tends to be at a lower speed than a 4WD car... the more grip you have the faster you have to go to explore the limits... and that's what young blokes like to do I reckon a young person is better off in a rwd to start with... learning car control etc

  18. only other stroker I would consider over a racepace jobbie is the RIPS one... but I reckon you made the right choice... with a build like this best to keep it all in the one shop those manifolds are so nice its almost a shame to hide them under the shields... best to keep it all looking as stock as possible... that HKS cam cover might give the game away though, looks trick!

  21. yep the KU36 and 595rs-r and RT615 are all in the same basket... pretty aggro tread pattern but no where near as soft as full semis... all around 180-200 tread wear rating I've just had a set of the KU36 put on my car... I wouldn't think they will affect the dyno at all... they drive pretty much like normal road tyres just have a stiffer sidewall, fatter shoulder and bigger tread blocks I dunno what's up with your car but I would be looking for a second opinion
  22. nope weight distribution is supposed to be spot on (they mention it somewhere in that thread)... firewall is been extensively modified, engine sits pretty far back and is only 5 cylinders long... all alloy too where as original motor was iron block I just reckon they need to get more tyre under it... It needs 10 inchers at least with that amount of hp... he is talking about a 650bhp stroker kit too
