  1. maybe but it would be a bitch to live with on the street... Nissan have done it all with the new car, made it super quick and by all reports a pleasure to drive down the shops for milk and bread... the fact that it can do what it can do with its extra weight and everyday drivability just goes to show what a technical marvel it is and just how far ahead of the 34 it really is... just wait for the lightweight versions that are sure to come out sure my 33GTR can probably run with a 35 in a straight line but its gutless down low, got a tricky clutch, tramlines all over the shop etc etc... if Nissan wanted too they could have made a car that was even quicker than the new 35 but that's not the point... the car they made is an all rounder and at a price that makes the euros cry into their lattes
  2. I would like to have a run with an R35, I reckon it would be a good, close race (in a straight line)... I imagine I would get killed with some corners thrown in though! the potential of the R35 is going to be interesting to watch... just as the earlier models had plenty of potential to be unlocked so too does the 35... there will be some absolute monsters coming out in the near future and I can't wait I think the popularity of the new GTR and its performance only adds to the whole GTR legacy... it should be lightyears ahead of the old cars, if it was anything less we all would have complained! The 35 car has brought a whole crowd into the GTR stable, I have people who have never been interested now asking me about my car because they have seen the new one and are only now really into anything GTR related Its a much better car in every respect than the old ones but that doesn't detract from them IMO
  3. good to see a 33GTSt build, they are so underrated as a track car cage not so important for now, I would get a seat and harness before a cage... get a good mechanical diff in it, a good brake setup (stock is fine as long as you have decent pads, rotors and fluid)... a reliable oil pressure and oil temp guage will help you save the motor, as will a good, safe tune... an oil cooler is always nice to have too to be quick you need to be comfortable, have traction, suspension balance and plenty of midrange punch and brakes that you can be confident in... the rest is making it reliable enough to last plenty of laps... I've never been good at the latter
  4. that camera is great quality!... I'm so jealous, I almost bought an Elfin instead of the GTR and after watching your video I think I should have... looks like heaps of fun that track, thanks for posting
  5. ahhh that's what you get for hiring a skank 40 yr old stripper, then getting down on all fours with your arse out while she lubes you up and brandishes a strap on he should just be quiet and............. take it like a man
  6. the spring rates front and rear are way too high... it has old off the shelf Tein RE's in it which are hard as concrete... something like 12kg/mm... would be more compliant with blocks of wood in there camber is a trade off for street duties for the moment... not sure how much castor its running but its got Nismo bushes, circuit link set and tension rod set so more than standard it handles great in wider/faster corners... just has trouble getting around cones on a skid pan... handbrake shoes need upgrading so I can use it more and I need to learn how to drive it better;)
  7. lucky bugger!
  8. that's a bit of a bummer... I can see why you make the effort though;)
  9. ooooh group buy for scaffold tube sway bar? I've got a heap of neg camber on the front to try and get it turned in... its great on the street, have to have 2 hands on the steering wheel all the time to make sure I don't 'unexpectedly' change lanes while I'm whoring this thread here's a pic for you djr81... see I still have a few inches to go...
  10. aftermarket diff? best thing I ever did to improve rear end feel in the GTSt nice power curve BTW... I've got the same top end power in the R but yours is coming on way earlier and more linear... a good 500rpm earlier... gotta love the RB25 VCT... I'm assuming its is still standard capacity? that E85 look like good stuff, wish we could get it reliably down here:(
  11. ah that just made my Friday... cheers!
  12. even GTSt's handle better with same width wheels front and back... and you can rotate them when you chew through rear tyres I've got 10" wide fronts on the GTR and it still understeers on a skid pan... can't imagine how much of a pig running a staggered set would make it... eeek
  13. I don't know if its still for sale but do a search for the user Ferni... he has a midnight purple 33GTR for sale that has been built by Racepace... it has the works and will be like night and day compared to a stockish GTR... you will also save yourself $$ by buying one that has already been built to this level don't buy one with stock turbos, they are hand grenades waiting to go off and you will be up for a full rebuild AND new turbos... that right there is a 10K+ exercise do all the usual checks you would with any other turbo import... but you must take along somebody who knows RB26's so they can listen for any unusual sounds/knocks... they are a noisy motor but unless you know what your listening for you could get into trouble... if it is modified make sure the owner knows ALL the modifications inside and out... for example if he says 'its got bigger injectors' he should know what brand and size... receipts, dyno sheets etc are good to have as well
  14. gold
  15. its got nothing to do with racism... anyone who thinks that needs to grow up young men + alcohol... its been happening for decades and will continue... you think we are the first generation to have problems with fighting and street racing etc... young guys have been getting in fights and driving too fast ever since alcohol and the car was invented... before that young blokes probably rode their horses too fast and punched on after downing some home brew I tell you what though, any young guy who has a proper strict parenting wouldn't be involved in group bashing some innocent bloke... parents are f*cking rubbish these days... the problems with the police force don't help but it comes back to teaching a kid right from wrong... I used to be scared of the police but only because they might tell my parents what I'd been up to! lol
  16. totally agree you should be able to find a clean, well modded R33 GTSt for 15K easily... my mate bought his 6 years ago for 14K... also ask around at some of the more reputable workshops, they may know of customers in the market to sell their cars
  17. top point about New York... they had terrible crime problems in the 80's and 90's... the main difference they made to clean up the place was to get cops out of their cars walking the beat again
  18. I think we should take Amsterdam's lead... stoned people don't bash each other... they just eat chips and giggle;) let's not get too carried away and start comparing ourselves to the US... imagine all these heroes going around punching people had handguns... BIG difference I was watching a doco a few months back that was dealing in self defence etc... a large part of it was teaching people how to walk/carry themselves so that they don't look like a victim or easy target... I'm not saying its the answer (I agree with Ash on what should be done... scary I know lol) but food for thought EVERY city has its violent areas to be avoided at certain times... being a local you just know what to avoid... I don't go to King St, never have... too many heroes and its not my scene... I lived in Prahran for 3 years and never went up beyond High St on a Fri/Sat night... the further you went towards Toorak Rd the higher the hero percentage... just avoid the areas that attract the d!ckheads
  19. when everyone was at raves til the sun came up eating pills and hugging there was hardly any violence! lol making everyone stand on the street to smoke was a bad idea too... many club/bar precincts look like street festivals these days also parents have gotten soft... I was too afraid of my old man to really get up to serious trouble
  20. yep I'm a silly, silly man... was going to keep it and run both cars but talked myself out of it as we moved into an apartment that only had a single car space (and we already had 2 cars)... looking back on it the GTSt had rubbish paint and wouldn't have mattered leaving it outside... ah well hindsight is always perfect... I do miss the rwd fun, that car had a Cusco diff that made it a ball to hang the rears out now I'm seriously thinking about an RB20 R32 banger for track stuff... I must be mad back on topic... how about that oil hey, crazy stuff..............
  21. ooooh tell me the gossip! the engine in my car was built back in '02 before many of the oil control mods had been developed... I should have been overfilling it with oil but I was checking the level first thing in the morning before it had been run so all oil was in the sump (level was up to the hump but not a 'true' reading)... apparently its best to check them after its been running for a few minutes... it was mostly due to human error, it should have had more oil in it basically The engine was in great condition when it was stripped down... bores+pistons were perfect it was just the one bearing that had been picked up and the crank was obviously damaged... it could have been on the way out when I bought the car but other than send oil away for analysis how do you check the condition of the bottom end prior to purchase? pretty difficult if its not making any noises there are plenty of people in Vic who have had broken engines they just don't talk about it on public forums... I don't really care and I also know not to try and put blame on others for my mistakes... sometimes you f*ck up and get away with it and other times you get bent over Its back on the road now and running sweetly... only real damage has been to my motorsport budget for this year... which is now no longer in existance, hence I will not be on a track until next year or I will be getting a divorce... tempting but I can wait lol

    New Arrival

congrats mate! so labour was fairly long hey? you could have stayed for the 2nd half! lol just kidding;) I like the name too, well done
  23. "Hi mate no chat on rb26 turbo upgrade thread so i just answer you here:) my rev limit is 7800. my car make 280kw on 128kmh yours 230-240. i think because i got a 256 camshaft thats why the the midrange is stronger, and peak power is not thats good. sad.gif" I'll trade you the peak power to have 280kw @ 128km/h... that's great response for those turbos... back on topic OP should have a look at your charts before he decides... benefits of plain bearing turbos are reliability, less plumbing and cheap rebuilds;)
  24. 2835 as a single on my old RB25 was a great turbo... but 2 of them are far too big for 2.6L (maybe okay for drag) I just added my dyno sheet for the T517z to this thread... last post http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Rb...47#entry4714047 360rwkw @ 20psi not bad for a couple of truck turbos hehe but I would imagine a similar size BB turbo setup from garret would spool sooner and be more responsive
