Trust 517z Vs Hks Gt-ss Vs Garrett 2860-7's
NickR33 replied to ChakGTR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
ask JAGR33... he went from the T517z to the -5s... made slightly less peak power but more response and midrange... I've got T517z and they are borderline for a street setup... I like the way they come on as it feels fast, even if its not hehe anyway go the garrets as they offer the best performance at the best price... I agree HKS are slightly better but also a lot more expensive with the exchange rate the way it is -
that was me I'm pretty sure... you were in the white 34 with black wheels... LMGT4's? car looks very cool:) yep not often you roll up to one and they let you go, I slowed right down as I was expecting to get waved in but they were already full
-
at 128km/h mine (T517z) makes 220-230rwkw... tops out at 360rwkw @ 1.38 BAR... yours seems to be a little stronger through the mid range, whilst mine tops out a bit higher... what's your rev limit? I'll post a dyno chart later
-
I see... I was way off! 3.4 should go alright... not quick enough so that people can't see you driving one though ehehehe
-
any particular reason why oval guys use that style?
-
Boxter S is the 'big block' 3.2 yeah? normal Boxter has a 2.8 from memory... not my cup of tea but would be a nice drive on the right roads... there are a lot of the top end Porsches getting round near my place but the owners always dribble around in them... hardly ever see one being driven as intended... I think they should stop posing and let me drive hehe
-
says the man with the Stack dash! I'm jealous... I like shiny stuff...
-
beautifully put... 10/10 for you sir
-
yeah would love to have a drive of a well sorted one just for comparison sake... anyone have a V8 they will let me drive? lol can't go past the sound of big cubes with no turbine wheels in the way to mute the sound... pure porn I get dragged of at the lights by grandmas when in the GTR... its got Trust turbos and a twin plate clutch so its either a 4 wheel smokin' clutch dump launch or a drivin miss daisy slow pull away... the GTSt was much easier as you could dial up a few revs and slip the clutch and actually get away quite smartly without making a scene... a v8 would be sooo much easier again I imagine when I said he would get bored I was assuming he was getting rid of the 32... he isn't so it would make sense to go for a v8 as second car, get bored of one jump in the other... best of both worlds:)
-
yep that's really low mate... have it checked on an external gauge to make sure its not the sender playing up... I would be going back to whoever did the rebuild and asking them why the pressure is so low... its just asking for bearing damage... usually too loose bearing clearance causes the low pressure so its a build problem... could be a pump issue but I doubt it... either way get it checked asap

fark yeah that will be barrels of fun with the turbo motor if I get one in the future I will leave it NA... but only because I love the sound of an off its head 4age... the GTR is for going fast in a straight line anyway -
I've never driven a V8 or any muscle car for that matter... pity as I think the old school Challengers are one of the toughest looking machines ever made... my old man always had Alfas, Lancias, MG's etc so I've never gotten into the big cube cruiser thing... closest I've come was my first car, '78 Benz 280E... now that was pimpin lol
-
actually if this is the brief then dare I say you can't go past one of the home grown V8's... the UK Top Gear guys love them, especially the older Monaros... I also think the new HSV R8 looks tough:D
-
fair enough I can't see you behind the wheel of an M3 but that's not what I was getting at... forget lap times and talk about dynamics and feel... your 32 feels nimble (I'm guessing) changes direction quickly, has a generous power to weight ratio etc... more akin to a Lotus than a muscle car... I think you would grow tired of a Camaro, not because it would be slow but because its not a 'drivers car' and you like to drive... not cruise around dropping the odd burnout and powerslide... buuut I may be wrong;) hehe... although I do happen to think the Camaro looks shit hot... seriously a fantastic design anyway the answer is to drop a stonking great V8 into your 32... you know it! best of both worlds:)

Oil Control In Rb's For Circuit Drag Or Drift
NickR33 replied to Sydneykid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I have never seen Benno put a drain like that on any of his motors... I got mine back from him last night and the oil pressure is off the scale, almost bends the needle back on the stock gauge lol... even with the super high pressure he's not seemingly worried about oil pooling in the head, said to just take it easy with the limiter bashing as its got an N1 pump (its weaknesses are well published)... won't reveal what he does to the motors but its all internal modifications as far as I can tell... there are the usual restrictors in the block but that's all I know -
oooh Exige... if I could afford one I would live with it day to day... man up Roy! do you really want a brand new car though? so much money to be saved buying something a couple of years old what's the performance of the Camaro like? I imagine even a last generation M3 (6 pot) would hand it its arse when you threw in a few corners... pity Toyota haven't brought out that wicked V10 Supra yet... that would be my pick but its not being produced?
-
hmmm they look fantastic... from a distance... but have you been up close/in one Roy? there are PLENTY better cars for 100K+ I would love a Vette... if I lived in the US I could afford one and they are the epitome of bang for buck... but by the time you get them over here and on the road they are no longer a performance bargain... sadly

many moons ago when I was living at home some cops came round one Sat arvo... I walk outside to see them inspecting my old 33... started to chat to them and apparently a neighbour had dobbed us in as we had a loud car that was waking them up in the morning... I asked them what time and they said approx 5:30am... There was no way it was me as I never get up that early so I took them out the back to show them my dad's old Alfa Giulia GTC... they just laughed and asked to hear it... I gave it a few revs for them and they said nice car and left promptly lol... that car is seriously loud, I did used to feel a bit sorry for the neighbours! lol made my 33 sound positively quiet in comparison

Oil Control In Rb's For Circuit Drag Or Drift
NickR33 replied to Sydneykid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
dipstick is in there pretty firmly... takes MUCH less pressure to move oil around than it would to blow a dipstick out... unless said dipstick has a really worn o ring etc -
I have a MAJOR Miura fetish... great pics
-
even so he was seriously hauling in the VW... some very clean driving, not too mention pretty brave to hold it flat 90% of the time! especially only after a few laps there, well done:)
-
achoo: I don't know what your on about... RB's love me and I love them... ActionDan: Hmmm tempting lol... I just found a quote for an Audi RS4 for $1100 for the weekend...

cheers BB... yeah the GMAX is a bit temperamental so it might be a worthwhile upgrade
