  1. Hey Jack how does the Coppermix compare to the old GMAX? I'm thinking of upgrading while the motor is out... sorry to go a bit O/T
  2. except 3 out of your 5 fastest track times are in a GTR;) nah awesome effort, great to see the beast making some serious progress... looking at the video you should get a medal for bravery! I was thinking about the rear grip in your car and wondering, with tyres as wide as you have and a pretty light car you would need a really soft compound tyre to take advantage of the width etc... perhaps they're too hard? I don't know what's available in that size but I would assume its pretty limited until you go to a full slick?
  3. good work! soooo... who has a car I can drive... I'll take it easy... promise...
  4. the car is currently at mechanics and don't have a photo... and I bought it with the catch can already installed so wouldn't know the cost... sorry mate
  5. damn, that sucks bozodos: I have lunched the bearings in a 25 at the track... but it had zero oil control mods at the time, no oil cooler and I was on my 7th hot lap in a row ... I don't think they are as bad as 26's for oil control but you can still kill them
  6. Nope... BBS LM's and Harrops... its probably sitting out the back in the rain lol getting a rebuild... damaged bearings so just waiting to find out what's salvageable as its a previously built motor I would look at those 2530's Femno is talking about if I were you... they would be lethal on your motor! those pics of the bottom end look damn nice... I feel naughty just looking at the pictures
  7. Those Tomei turbos look tempting hey... very nice bit of gear... but still no where near the bang for buck of the -5's... good luck with your search, there were some for sale in the classified section on here a few weeks back but were second hand sooo has he started ripping apart the silver GTR yet? tell him to get on with it!
  8. tough decision... to do the oil control mods properly it means modified sump (and oil galleries etc) so is an engine out job... to drill the oil galleries will require the block to be stripped and cleaned and put back together with new bearings etc... To do all that is going to cost you several thousand dollars... and while its out you may as well get a new high flow oil pump and check the pistons etc... you may end up replacing piston rings and maybe even the pistons themselves depending on condition... then there is the head which while off you may want to check clearances etc... also a new set of gaskets, studs blah blah will be needed to put it back together... soooooo before long you will have spent over 5K just on 'preventative' measures and maintenance I reckon you just keep overfilling it, keep the rev limit sane and start saving for a full rebuild down the track... hopefully you get a few years out of it before it cries enough... you WILL be needing a rebuild at some point with regular track work but how long you get is anybodies guess... if it aint broke don't fix it! oh are you running the standard ceramic turbos? if yes you will want to swap them out when you pull the motor to do oil control mods
  9. Good to see the blue beast back and looking mint mate
  10. so its just the intake cam that has the VCT yeah? I would imagine this would be much more efficient than the 25 VCT as you can tune it right through the rev range not just switch it on and off Sweet setup, so its nearly finished? make sure to post a dyno chart when its done:) will be a response monster! I believe my car is next in line... I should have bribed Benno to drop that stroker crank into my build, you would never have known;) lol
  11. you should see the Racepace catch tank in my car, work of art! better yet have a look at the ones RIPS in NZ do... drool seriously though you need to run one... I destroyed a brand new HKS turbo in the old GTSt because I wasn't running a catch tank... some blowby got injected back into the intake pipe (that's where the stock breather is plumbed back into) and took out a few compressor blades if your going to go to all the trouble of cam cover baffles then why not just hook up a catch tank? cheap insurance... but then again I reckon just do nothing and hope all will be okay... afterall 26's are bulletproof at the track and cheap to rebuild..................................
  12. LOL at BB I kinda agree with Femno its not a bad decision buying a car in need of a rebuild but I would never buy a car sight unseen Only real downside is not being able to drive the the car... driving it is where you ascertain the condition of the driveline (gearbox, clutch, diffs, transfer case etc) Its a gamble but buying cars is always a gamble... x 10 if its a turbo import Those quotes are pretty damn cheap, budget for twice that and you will be safe... also offer the guy 10K and see if he's interested... can't hurt;)
  13. Lang lang looks like fun! nice work Bec Just looked at the result, Ryan really did own at HH... that's a phenominal effort considering the cars he beat... well done mate:)
  14. street/drag/circuit which one? if either of the first 2 I would say running no cooler will be fine but definitely not for circuit
  15. aaaagh an Exige too!... damn... I can't even manage to get one car on the track and keep it there... I would love the running costs of that lot, only I couldn't afford it without selling my body parts on the black market... or getting my wife to become a stripper... and I've already asked... she said no ps. If you have too many cars and need me to break one for you I'm always available... its my special talent
  16. wow 8.3L and looks pretty darn light... going to be a handful but lots of fun I imagine that rear wing is awful... but I suppose your going to need all the rear end grip you can get... make sure to stockpile lots of tyres! don't you also have an old porsche as well? 911, GTR and Viper... okay I'm massively jealous now
  17. powdercoating requires a lot of prep work to keep it from peeling etc... they need to be sand/media blasted and thoroughly cleaned beforehand
  18. I didn't think the coverage would be of interest to the average Today audience... housewives, the elderly and people who have absolutely nothing to do so end up watching tv at 9am
  19. so is this car going to see the track or just be a streeter? what kind of oil control (sump/pump etc) are you going for? I'm probably jumping the gun hey;) those cranks make me want to bash my credit card... I'm waiting to find out of I need a new crank at the moment and they all look soooo nice... the knife edging on that Apexi crank makes me tingle in naughty places... there are too many of these cool threads at the moment, gives me bad ideas keep posting those pics, otherwise I might actually have to do some work
  20. highlights video is up... not much of the SAU guys though... and no footage of the winners http://www.youtube.com/austarmacchallenge
  21. oh noes... 26km of school zone! lol I remember a few years back the GOR down here in Vic was 100km/h the whole way, was fun as you couldn't break the speed limit even if you were really pushing (except for the straights and there aren't that many)... nowadays its 80km/h and is usually chockers with tourists driving 60km/h... I can't imagine the amount of gheyness that a 40km/h limit would bring... too many bikers exceeding their talent and hurting themselves hey?
  22. yeah its not so bad getting thrashed at Deca when you realise how quick some of the guys are... dunno about it rubbing off though, I've been in the club for years and I still suck Well done to everyone, awesome results... especially Chris who I'm now dubbing Iceman (super cool under pressure and all that)... well deserved mate, you have been close a few times great to see you and Adz win it
  23. you always come late or you always come latte... if its the latter I think you need to cut back
  24. you are the ultimate thread spammer... ...sooooooo... wanna meet up for a latte?
  25. hehe nice Russ... GTR's suck good luck guys, kick some latte sipping Porsche arse!* *I'm actually quite fond of the odd latte but you get what I mean
