first ever Deca I'm praying for rain! lol Ant the handbrake is an instant understeer killer... I need practice launching my thing... its either massive revs and smoking all 4 or it just bogs... should be interesting I need to hit Scotsman up on how to drive these things quick around the cones

Hi all... have a very nice set of R34GTR rims, repainted in dark charcoal with Hankook Ventus Evo S1 K107 tyres with at least 80-90% tread left for sale... 1 has some gutter rash that has been retouched, see photo Rims are 18 inch by 9 inch wide... offset is +30 Tyres are 235/35/18 Asking $2K Firm Also have an old set of AVS rims for sale... tyres are no good and they're all gutter rashed fairly well... would suit drifter or someone who was going to get them painted/powdercoated They are 17 inch by 8 inch wide fronts... 9 inch wide rears... offset is around +34 Asking $200 I'm in Melbourne, prefer pickup
-
whoa lifting the inside front there! cool
-
thanks Rowdy, you make some good points... I love this line "All gtr's are is cheque book racing machines" lol... I don't mind running around with ultra high spring rates as long as the thing handles... its really just the rear that doesn't do what its supposed to... the RE's are probably 6 or 7 years old and in need of a rebuild anyway so thought I would look at the whole setup... it also runs standard swaybars so I'll definitely be looking to go softer in the springs and make up for it with some thicker bars... bars are cheap and easy to adjust, even for someone as mechanically challenged as myself:) totally agree with your philosophy on setup... the limiting factor is always going to be my driving so I don't want to throw too much $$$ at the problem but at the same time I think having a good suspension setup is very rewarding... it doesn't need to be perfect it just needs to do all the basics well and be predictable on the track and street
-
once upon a time they would fill up in half an hour!
-
Just found and read that thread... lots of good stuff in there...
-
Jack: Thanks mate I knew they were similar but wasn't 100%... yeah I know he's the man; BBGTR: Yeah not aiming for 'cheap' but want to keep it reasonable... when talking suspension the sky's the limit it seems... if your ever in my area perhaps I could get a ride in your beast? LotusGTR: I would love a chat and maybe a ride in your machine once you get it setup... let me know Tangomatt: if I go for the DMS you could grab my old RE's and have Benno work his magic on them... would be cheaper than sourcing new ones off the shelf from Japan... HKS stroker and Vcam! drooool The dollar vs yen is terrible so its more cost effective to keep my RE's and get them rebuilt... I'll have to get a quote and see how it compares to the DMS 50mm
-
Thanks Snowy... I think I'm going to have to call and price all the options up to make a decision... see if he can work with the RE's and if not see what he thinks of the DMS... what do you have in your car? (probably not within my budget lol)
-
Fulcrum do the Teins for Ben so not sure they will want to hand over the specs so I can get another company to supply me... maybe spring rates but their not going to give me any details about valving etc I'm not after a buttery smooth ride just want to be able to put the power down better and not have the rear 'hop' over bumps... my last car had Bilsteins and they had the opposite problem... too soft in the rear so it was nice on the street but not great for the track... if I was after solely a street shock I would look at the Bilsteins again
-
this is not a problem as long as you keep your foot in it and put on a show
-
yeah good point... the DMS stuff is custom built so I would think they would be fairly on the money but I would be pretty annoyed if they weren't and needed some tweaking... in that case would be much more cost effective to stick with the Teins
-
I was adamant I wasn't going to fiddle with anything on the GTR for a while but the suspension is starting to sh!t me... Its got Tein RE's in it and the rears are way too hard (I think the springs are around 12kg/mm front and back)... it makes the rear bounce over bumps in the road and if that happens whilst your WOT it has a habit of changing lanes rapidly... with 550bhp+ its a little unsettling I would have put this in the suspension section but wanted feedback from the Vic guys running the Racepace/Fulcrum modded Teins... I have never been for a ride in a car with Ben's suspension so have nothing to compare to... I will try and hit someone up for a ride at Deca... not that the skidpan is a good test, you could run with concrete blocks in place of coilovers and it wouldn't be a problem lol So my question is, should I get the RE's rebuilt or go for some Drummond Motorsport coilovers? I've heard good things about the DMS stuff and it looks to be just within my budget... anyone have it on their GTR's? Are there any other options I'm forgetting? I know what Ben will say if I call him so keen to get some feedback before I do

without the tires you might have been in with a shot but not keen to separate... until I get desperate lol I haven't got them back off the guy who bought my car yet, probably this weekend

couldn't they drop the front drive shafts and tune it in RWD? or is this a no no when tuning MOTEC? -
Just wanted to bump your thread by saying Vietnam is awesome... someone snap these up its a great deal and a great place to visit... and cheaper than a holiday to Qld! good luck with the sale
-
no... no we can't... google is broken all of a sudden yep some of the RWD boys are upset I went over to the darkside... I figured it was too much hard work to become a better driver so I would just do what any smart bloke does... find a way to cheat hehehe

[quote name='paulr33' date='20 Apr 2009, 06:13 PM' post='4545 2) sell your car buy aarons r34 away you go great idea but he will kill himself in that thing... seriously... Mines_Datsun anybody? lol @ 'Hard Parking' Your going to paint it!?... you know that sound Clint Eastwood makes in Gran Tourino... ungh
-
new plugs and pod filter just kidding Benno seriously though its all the usual suspects... Power FC, Exhaust, cam gears, good pads/fluid, a slight boost increase... enjoy that for a while before you go doing anything else... it should be pretty reliable and punchy like that but if you want to go all out I reckon you should trade down to a standard 34GTR don't go stripping it or anything daft like that

It rains up there much more than down here... rainfall per year Melb 661mm Sydney 1220mm Brisbane 1189mm http://www.bom.gov.au/lam/climate/levelthr...sclim/zones.htm

I have 8cms and they make 360rwkw at 20psi... hits 20 by about 4000rpm... would be nice to have another 100kw at the same rpm lol... it has Procams in it so it has a very strong top end but it could do with a change to smaller cams but I'm going to leave it as is for a while and see how it goes
-
lol... where's Roy 70RTY: stripper heels FTW!

Lanching In 2nd Gtr
NickR33 replied to Travis Trayhern's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
crikey... the 32 initially gets off the line a touch quicker but the 33 and 34 come storming past... the 34 looks to be making more than 600ps tho... or its just running average tires as it smokes them up even launching in 2nd!? (maybe it was just turning the wheel as he had to steer around the 33) I'd be interested to know if that improves the 0-100kn/h time as you wouldn't have to make a gear change I'm too scared to try it... someone else try it and let me know how it went lol -
oh yeah, can't wait... better renew my cams license asap! Will pay and fax entry later today sooo should I drop the front drive shafts for this? ps. Hey Bris you can enter this in my car as long as you enter Dutton with me the week after...................... and pay the entry fee for both of us
