Superlap 2009 Gets A Green Light!
NickR33 replied to Superlap Australia's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
I was under the impression you had to have at least 2 wheels on the black stuff? photos are fantastic guys, really looks like a step up from last year... great variety of cars... top work:) The R34 has to be the fastest drifter on the planet! the 'Vettes were a bit slow hey... the ZR1 must be significantly faster than the standard Z06... R35 was 5 secs faster Chris I would lay low if I was you hehe... or maybe its time for the first ever RB25 powered MX5? -
excellent post... having gone from one to the other I can totally agree... 33GTSt is a totally underrated car and an absolute bargain these days... just find one that has been looked after and modified with some thought and skill and your on a winner so over the whole whinging about GTR badges on GTSt's too... who cares, get over it... anyone who knows what they are looking at can tell the difference... I wouldn't do it but imitation is the highest form of flattery... can we move past it now
-
As title suggests I'm after a standard GTR 33 thermostat... I'm in Melbourne and can pick up... PM is fine Cheers, Nick
-
haha rock up with no back seats and no passenger seat... sorry just been to a track day, you'll have to sit on my lap.........
-
I'm actually not sure if he played with them Jason... I suspect not... we both agreed there is too much rear spring in the car, the back end jumps around over some of the bigger bumps... but that's what you get with 10kg/mm springs front and rear... they are fairly old and could do to be pulled out and possibly rebuilt so I will get him to work his magic on them one day... Nice Zed... must be fast, its red!
-
no way god would drive that car................. that's satan's track car!
-
nope not hard to sell at the price I sold it for! lol I got the shits with it and sold it to the first guy who sounded serious and came and looked at it... he got a bargain but I'm happy as I didn't have to put it on carsales and deal with all the dreamers and test pilots
-
okay posting for phunky_monkey... please note I did not build it and haven't gotten it to the track yet but hey, what else am I going to do on a Friday Previously owned by Nathan from the SAU Vic club '96 R33 GTR, built by Ben @ Racepace many moons ago so is a bit old school Built motor with Tomei gear, pistons, big cams, springs, lifters etc etc... with Benno custom sump and catch can etc Trust T517Z 8cm turbos Trust FMIC, Radiator and Oil Cooler etc Tein Type-RE Coilovers etc Harrop 4-pot Calipers, 355mm 2-piece Rotors BBS LM Forged Alloy 18x10.0 +20 and a bunch of other supporting parts... makes 360rwkw @ 20psi Is pretty loud and lumpy and generally not as refined as recent Racepace GTRs but I love it... it has personality and it gets me to work really quickly lol soon to be at a track day near you Excuse the filth, had been driving in the rain before this...
-
yeah okay will do... I didn't build it tho... after building up my GTSt I realised it would be more economical to buy something already mostly done and just tweak it... If I weren't completely hopeless with a spanner it might be worth it but when your paying for it all it really adds up... as I'm sure your already aware!
-
yeah but having to sell your arms and legs to buy it only to find out you can't operate all the controls with your mouth IS depressing!
-
seen the colour of the M Speed GTR by any chance... hence my post about ruining it by painting it bright colours etc
-
from tackers links is this (not euro I know) http://www.draganddrift.com/car_info.php?id=489 350Z with RB26 HKS 2.8L... you might need a separate shipping container for the wing tho... and it would be a 'handful'...
-
excuse me for a minute............. .................whimper.... sigh............ there is a good chance I'm touching myself right now all black, massive widebody, huuuuge sidepipe... the japs would never make something that cool, they would mess it up by making it bright orange or putting chrome vinyl on it... way to go guys!
-
damn Jason that GTR will be a weapon... mine is an old school Racepace build and is still frightfully quick... yours would be in another world! Benno sure knows how to build 'em... and spend your money lol
-
how dare you!!! nah just kidding, happy birthday dood, hope you have a good night:)
-
6:30pm tonight... AP you playing this week? We only had 4 last week had to recruit someone at half time... second last game for the season

I have a Trust radiator and Nismo 62º thermostat in the GTR... I don't know if its helping prevent thermal shock but it makes it very hard to get heat into the motor on cold nights... for a car running the stock ecu as you say this will make it run rich (closed loop) until it gets up to temp for a street car with standard ecu I would leave the thermostat OEM... how cold does it get up there in winter! you would never see 0º temps in Melbourne, even in the middle of winter unless your driving in the middle of the night you would be surprised to see much less than about 15º I guess if you went to the track on a really cold day you could try and idle the car up to operating temp... with no airflow over the radiator and the heat from the engine warming it you would lessen the chance of thermal shock?
-
Dezz my GTSt was doing the same but with a HKS 2835... dropping from 18psi to 15psi... Benno reckoned it was an exhaust restriction... maybe drop your exhaust for a run and see if it improves?
-
which corner was it? the fences are so far back at the island I'm impressed you both managed to hit them! I've had a few big offs at Sandown but never hit anything... went straight on at turn 1 but pulled it up well before the fence also went wide at the sweeper at the end of the back straight which was a bit worrying (turned in too late carrying too much speed), if you've been there you know there isn't much room... had to try and turn on the grass at about 150km/h which wasn't a great idea, made it back onto the black stuff though... with a few massive tank slappers trying to get the thing pointing straight again always beware the last session of the day... the car is not the only thing you have to worry about getting tired!

R33 Gtr V-spec N1 Mods Suggestions?
NickR33 replied to Brandon's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
hmm I wouldn't modify something that rare... make sure you keep all standard parts etc as it will be worth much more when or if you ever sell Savman's N1 Targa car would be a replica I assume? I wouldn't rally a car that was only 1 of 4 in Australia! -
yeah much easier to learn the lines at Sandown... PI is a track you need to visit a few times before you get a handle on it... I swear I got completely lost in a few corners at PI... where's the damn apex! lol The Driver Dynamics days are good because they aren't timed and you get plenty of track time... that means you won't have to worry that your holding people up etc and the others on the circuit won't be getting frustrated that they can't get past... nothing more annoying than someone holding you up through the corners then blasting away on the straight as they are packing 1 billion KW but then holding you up again at the next corner
-
that car has A LOT of power, it will be a handful even on ao48's never mind the Azenis or Federals... you will just have to be careful on the throttle out of corners... just wait til she's straightened up before you pin it and work in the higher gears... do some laps, get a feel for the circuit as far as braking and racing lines go... then when you get more confident (and some really decent semis) you can work on getting on the power earlier and harder out of corners etc

Joeyjoejoe's E85 Tuning Adventutres
NickR33 replied to joeyjoejoejuniorshabadoo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yep, gone over to the dark side Nathan's old 33 GTR... is a bit of an animal... would love to tune it on E85 as it runs the old Trust plain bearing turbos and although its not real laggy or wanting for power it would be a weapon with an E85 tune pity you have to drive to woop woop to get the stuff!
