yeah of course, you don't need anything fancy... if it has rust on it it's even more badass, that's a fact! if your afraid of getting hurt you won't get anywhere... you had a really bad injury but eventually you just have to say fck it and trust your body... it will hate you for a while... everything aches and you hobble around like an old man... if it were easy everybody would do it -

everyone starts somewhere... even really strong guys get injured and have to start from the beginning again... your form is fine but your using rubbish equipment which is only going to make the journey longer and more frustrating than it needs to be... look at it as an investment in your health... and it's cheaper than a gym membership in the long run when you start to get stronger many of the little niggles just disappear... the body is amazing and adapts very quickly but you have to make it adapt... don't over think it... it's good to train smart but you have to train smart and hard... you will have more setbacks along the way, it happens to everyone -

don't over think it... get some decent equipment and get to work... your more at risk of injury playing sports than lifting weights... you're stronger than you think you are -

your essentially doing deads from a deficit with plates that size, which is causing you to begin the movement in an almost full squat position, which is why your knees are in the way... leave your hips up higher and just do stiff leg deads for the time being (except when you do them the bar must be touching your legs all the way through each rep, don't let it swing out in front as TTT mentions) you'd really benefit from getting some proper equipment.... as you say a power rack that you could also do chins and dips from... doing dips like that is next to useless, you'd get more tricep work doing push ups with a narrow hand placement when you overhead press you want your hands on the bar directly above your shoulders and your elbows... which you might not be able to do with that bar... here's a good vid buy some decent equipment and start putting some weight on the bar... you can't tell where your weaknesses are until it starts getting heavy -
I was going to put my deadlift video up... but I make a stupid face... I have to work on that lol
-
I had something similar in my left elbow for ages... but it went away on its own so I can't help you there! glad your back is holding up to regular deadlifting, you can train around a bad elbow but training around a bad lower back is difficult I get pain in both rotator cuffs when I do a lot of pressing... it usually subsides just in time for me to press again... sometimes I just train trough it... overhead pressing flares it up worse than bench though you could go 200+ with some nice tight wrapping... get Scott to do it, damn the pain! hehe
-
lol I don't think so... but I'm trying how's your back holding up? what's the deal with your shoulder/elbow, just tendonitis or something more sinister? I don't know how you do max work on your own... no spotters, nobody to wrap your knees, nobody watch your form... nobody to turn AC/DC up a big advantage for me at States was training on the same equipment that was used for the comp... I practiced a lot using the mono/squat bar and on the Forza bench

lol @ baldness first comp was 160/110/190 at about 86kg to be fair I did get the deadlift wrong on the day (never used a decent bar and chalk before), probably had 200 in me... but still I've managed to put 40kg on my DL since then squat has improved 50kg... some of that can be attributed to knee wraps, some to strength increase and some to improved technique bench has improved by 22.5kg... much of this is due to improved technique I've put on about 3 kg but am a little bit leaner without a doubt coaching plays a huge part... as does watching guys better than you train and using top notch equipment Max is doing all my programming leading up to Nationals... I just rock up and ask what's on for the day

eggs are quicker to cook than people think... pull pan out, chuck it on the heat, tiny bit of olive oil, crack some eggs in, handful of spinach and in 2 mins its done... if you want some carbs throw a piece of oatmeal bread in the toaster or I like to microwave up some baked beans I kicked cereal a few years ago... one of the best things I did I've tried rolled oats/porridge but I feel full and sluggish after... but I can eat a big egg meal and be at the gym lifting an hour later, no problem find what works for you
-
had a quick muck around with it but that's about it... very odd to use... I imagine its similar to doing push ups on rings / TRX straps... building the stabilisers in your shoulders by pressing an instable object I'm still trying to press a stable object correctly lol
-
lol... my bet that kid was slamming recreational drugs... less to do with steroids, more likely due to amphetamine use... but that's just my opinion from limited understanding of the situation anything can get you killed if you don't know what your doing... like crossing the street but I agree, 600hp can kill you pretty fckn quickly

article on T Nation... one of the older lifters talking about how he keeps himself together... I don't know the science behind it... I assume it has something to do with slowing the change of direction so the tendons have less stress placed upon them
-
I agree however pausing reps may assist with shoulder health... from what I've read
-
as soon as people start talking about gear it sounds like another language... I have NFI what people are on about Great analogy about wasting money on cars Tolga... so true each to their own I guess but at least having a stupidly quick car is an experience... juicing for the sake of vanity just seems... vain
-
the pause does get easier the more you practice it... just have to concentrate on keeping tension
-
haha he looks so uncomfortable... trying to be a gentleman, poor bloke

Cheers! I had a good day... I like comps, I find I can get a few extra kilos just due to the atmosphere I started doing PPP 3 times a week after my first novice comp which was last year in September I think... that was at my old gym with the odd weekend session at PTC... since mid Jan this year I've been training 4-5 times a week, mainly at PTC, doing a mixture of PPP and whatever Max tells me to do
-
had a very successful States... I went 9 for 9, setting a PB on every lift squat 210kg bench 132.5kg deadlift 240kg unfortunately the 90kg division was very strong so I came 4th... if I had of lifted in any other division I would've got a medal was an amazing job Markos, how you and the crew managed to run a meet with so many lifters and spectators out of that little gym was super impressive bring on Nationals:)
-
don't eat like him then Martin's physique is ridiculous... I'm sure he could step on a bodybuilding stage tomorrow and do very well... trains much the same as Gregg
-
I have been doing nothing but PPP and general powerlifting since the start of the year... went to my bro-in-laws birthday today and everyone was commenting on how much bigger I'd gotten... I despise high reps, the majority of sets I do 5 reps and under this stuff works... however the biggest benefit is training with guys bigger and stronger than you... you have no choice other than to make progress... it's too fckn embarrassing not too if you want to get serious join a serious gym... best move I've made comp tomorrow so I stayed away from alcohol... I haven't had a beer in weeks... but I ate so much food I'm feeling a bit ill lol Markos puts on a great show... come down and have a watch tomorrow

yes I see your point... ignorance is never an excuse... for anything
