Just Ran In My New Kaaz Diff
NickR33 replied to Shaun's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I have the Cusco RS that has springs in it that damp the clunking a bit... still makes some noise tho but you can keep it quiet by staying off the throttle when you have lots of lock on the wheel... just kind of coast round corners... when driving quickly it pays to be a bit more aggressive than you would with the vlsd, takes some time to adjust but it amazed me how much more grip a good mech diff gives... 2 ways aren't as scary as people suggest either -
they were mid $300's when I last bought a set... but that was over 12 months ago

Does anyone have Bec's mob number? I need to ask a question about our accommodation

just goes to show how big a car the R35 is... I remember first seeing one at the Melb motor show noting its easily as big as a 599... both absolutely massive for coupes! and people carry on about the size of 33's hehe;) +1 for not caring how it looks at the track, 3sec's is the biggest time improvement from a single mod by far... and cheaper in the long run!

yep just keep your foot into it!... its much more progressive and easier to slide now as I have ditched the VLSD and hicas so no more single peggers... its amazing how much more grip a good diff gives... can't wait for DECA:) -
if your going to do the Dutton you really would've benefited from launch control... ah well someone will work out a hack for it sooner or later

spotted a cop on my way home from racepace yesterday... she almost pulled out in front of me (then decided against it as there was NO room) causing me to jump on the anchors and give her a 'you gotta be kidding' stare and head shake... which I then decided was a pretty bad idea lol

are you staying with the side mount IC? if so you may want to figure a way to duct some cold air to it even stock as it is it should be pretty quick and do some nice skids hehe... have you done anything in the brakes dept.? great project, good luck with the rest of it and post more pics damnit! -
I've currently got 18x9" +30 on the front of mine and they fit perfect... yours will sit almost the same (less width but more offset) you will need to be running some neg camber tho... around 1.5º should do it... and maybe a 225 tire for added clearance (I run 235's)

Tarmac Rallying Perpetual Thread
NickR33 replied to Marlin's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
fair comment I definitely think it has the potential to be more rewarding but it still scares me... if only because I haven't experienced it... I guess if your new to the sport avoiding taking the 'racing line' and just driving as quickly as you feel comfortable in the centre of the road there would be plenty of margin for error... with some of the terrible driving I see on country/coastal roads I sometimes think everyday driving is more dangerous than motorsport! -
I'm a little late on this discussion but here goes anyway Has she ever tried clean living for a while... eg no drugs, alcohol, tobacco, caffeine or any stimulants as well as doing regular exercise and staying away from processed food (anything that comes in a packet, including food brought from a take away joint)? I know it sounds like a dumb question but lifestyle has a huge impact on mental health, more than we would like to admit... also does she get enough sleep and have a hobby or something she is passionate about? These points have all been touched on by others but reckon they are really important... I'm no angel and I don't claim to do all of the above but I'm not in any denial about the impacts of certain elements of a modern lifestyle... maybe the anger is just a symptom and all the counseling is doing is treating the symptom, when what you should be doing is looking at her lifestyle as a whole Good luck:)

Tarmac Rallying Perpetual Thread
NickR33 replied to Marlin's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
thanks Snowy that explains a lot... your a brave man, as much as I would love to do it one day, tarmac rallying scares the crap outta me! we took the long way back from Warnambool after the long weekend and I really like attacking the slower sharper corners but I would imagine pushing big speeds through the fast sweepers would be terrifying... good luck with all the prep -
yep we have all been through it... of all the drugs I've ever experienced its effects are by far the most dangerous when it comes to decision making and basic motor skills... and its legal... nothing ever changes, young people + alcohol + cars don't mix
