  1. you can't be serious... you would cringe at the price many old school GTR's command today... let alone a modern GTR with a racing pedigree like the Aussie GMS cars... $$$ right there There won't be any Mustangs around in 30 years... they will have all rusted hehe
  2. first of all the base model Mustang is a 6 not an 8 (as it was when they first came out)... and the Mustang was originally known as a girls car, cheap and good looking (not particularily fast) a hairdressers car of the time if you like... and they built a buttload of them... not very well either, they were very cheap it wasn't until Carol Shelby chucked a big 8 in and whacked a bodykit on it that it got any sort of muscle car credibility... just like the GTR was created from the base model Skyline... a souped up family car if you will, just like the Mustang... so an old 60's or 70's GTR isn't a sought after classic? haven't raised in value over time?
  3. what's involved in getting the GTR diff in there... did you have to change the whole cradle etc?
  4. ahh crap... too many of these threads popping up! I live around there, will keep an eye out but I don't suppose its still in the area
  5. Wear on the inside won't be a problem on the track cos if your cornering like you should be (quickly!) you will be using the outside of the tire anyway... even if your car is lowered there won't be sufficient negative camber (unless you have a/m camber adjustment) ... most street cars scrub the outside of their tires at the track how many kays have these tires done? maybe post a pic of the tread or email it to Kev, he will be able to tell you I know your pain, last time I was at one of Kev's Sandown days I got the death rattle and had to push the car outta the pits... there was just sooo much track and so little cars I got carried away, probably should have fit a cool down lap in there somewhere!... oops hehe... ah good times
  6. worn street tires are better than new ones for track work... unless they are down to the canvas you should be fine if its raining and they are pretty bald you will have problems, but I assume if there is standing water on the track and its your first time out you would just be tippy toeing around anyway good luck and have fun!
  7. look a few posts up and its all there from GTshortie "i've got around 220-230rwkw in my r33 gts25t (dyno dependent) and my MPH is always around 110-113mph."
  8. some late series 1 had driver side airbags... no passenger airbag Jake try Just Jap too... they have their own range of steering wheels at a much lower cost than Nardi, Momo etc but I have never held one so not sure of the quality... maybe someone who has one can comment
  9. Mine is cactus as well... worn completely through... just ordered a Nardi Deep Cone from Greenline.jp and a Daikei boss kit... you just have to make sure to purchase the boss kit for an airbag wheel... Greenline don't have any of the Nardi wheels on their site but they can order them for you if you know what you want Nardi is Italian like Momo, but I think they have a better range if your after something simple... I don't like the fighter plane style wheels with all the crap on them so Nardi for me... bit on the pricey side tho
  10. over the crest on the long wang! haha (Vic guys will know what I'm on about)... so much fun seriously tho, turn 1 at PI scared me, but but turn 2 is far more technical and harder to perfect... turn 1 is more like dab the brakes, grow some balls, tip it in and hold on... turn 2 and a couple of the others I'm not sure where to apex so I find much harder to go fast through
  11. I remember a story of a certain GMS Bluebird that got the lap record at Bathurst... helped by the fire extinguisher that was mounted in the engine bay... pointed at the intercooler... and able to be activated by a switch in the cabin... I read that somewhere but dunno how true it is
  12. pfft... not impressed... only 2 cars actually managed to get down the 1/2 mile remotely cleanly... well done to the RX7 guy getting his car fixed as he was one of them... don't know how you see outta the windscreen with all those stickers tho;) Ferrari looks great but that's about it, left the line with clutch smoke billowing out the back of the car = $$$ everything except the 2 imports and torrie seem to have waaay too much power and zero grip (and the owners couldn't drive to save their lives) Luff never has anything interesting or intelligent to say other than "it has heaps of power" and if he sat in the passenger seat yelling at me like he does I would have to open the door and kick him out these are supposed to be street cars but most of them would be really average on the street and evidently rubbish on the track too... they all look absolutely mint but the point is the're super quick and good at everything, right?... just don't see the point in the show... I dunno just felt like it could have been handled more professionally, makes us all look like meat heads IMHO... that's not the guys who were on the shows fault... real low budget, rushed car show once again... lets hope somebody throws some money at the Aussie Top Gear
  13. I'm a douche... it wasn't plugged in:/
  14. does anybody know why I just had a retune and now the H/C screen isn't coming on? I will ring the tuner and ask but just thought I would ask here first in case its something really obvious
  15. umm $300 If I remember correctly... came with servos, battery and all that junk... they have just re-released it, I never had a Frog but a mate did and a Grasshopper... ahhh memories
  16. yeah I know Bec... I'm just not a morning person:/
  17. I just spent a week in Merimbula (about 2.5 hours past Lakes Entrance) and it was awesome! we rented a holiday house with a few friends on the beach... just cooked bbq and drank beer all week... definately good going southern NSW coast, bit of a change from the usual GOR etc... however it takes pretty much the whole day to get there, plus another to get back so not really long weekend material O/T: was overcast one day too so me and a mate went into the local toy store, bought a Tamiya RC car and spent the rest of the day building it and drinking beer... only to find the next day that we had missed a bunch of stuff and had to rebuild half of it... this time sober haha go the Frog, 1980's are back!
  18. bugger vinyls off and just get a graff artist to take to your Lambo with a texta! brilliant I hate stickers/decals on cars... but I love this... weird
  19. mate you open to seperating? I need some front rotors
  20. That's spot on Roy... my car has the Bilsteins/Whitelien combo and loves Sandown... I have done a 1:29 around there with the stock turbo and street tires, which is pretty quick considering... Phillip Island however is another story... excluding the fact I have only been there once and I don't have a harness (which makes it hard to stay in the seat without gripping the wheel like a fat kid holds a chocolate bar) I'm dismally slow... 2:06 to be precise, same tyres, same tune... it just gets too much roll as you stay loaded up in the corners for ages and I don't run enough negative camber to even it out I like a bit of bodyroll, helps you feel what the car is doing underneath you but I also don't like scraping the door handles on the road!
  21. hahaha gold, I love it I agree with ylwgtr2, euros are great until something goes wrong with them... then bend over and prepare yourself for the reeming... even just regular maintenance can be quite exxy and I dunno what people are on about Skylines being uncomfortable... just drove mine to NSW and back and it was great, awesome on the open road if you don't buy crappy china coilovers with concrete for springs... sure if you have to sit in an hour traffic jam every morning then I would suggest something different... but then again anything with a seat and 4 wheels will do that job Toyota build the best cars, ask any mechanic who works on different cars for a living... but if you really care what other people think when they are sitting next to you at the lights go buy that Bimmer... I personally don't care and actually quite like pissing the older generation off... I live for those disapproving looks, makes me feel young hahahaha oh and don't forget most people driving luxo euros are leasing the car... they don't own sh!t
  22. trying to remember that when smoke is billowing out of the front of your pride and joy is another issue tho! lol
  23. you shouldn't be opening the bonnet in that case, just lets air in to make the fire worse... best to just spray the extinguisher through the grill if you can and if you need to open it be careful or you will lose your eyebrows hehe
  24. had them put on late November... they were on there for the Dec DECA they fill the wheels up nicely, has to be the gold 34 ones tho... gotta have a little bling;) hehe really should go up to 18 inch rims (would look heaps better) but rubber gets a bit exxy and I like to have the good stuff... but looks okay on 17's I reckon
