  1. just got the engine out and stripped last weekend... I'm posting a part list thread in the FI section now before I start splashing out with the wallet... I want to make sure I'm getting the right bits... doing the build ourselves, probably a big mistake but oh well! trying not to rush it or go into any debt so could be a long process... I'm so impatient! yeah Roy I reckon my car would have been good around Winton, the tires and suspension didn't like PI (I did tho!), its just too fast there but Winton would have been good
  2. wanna lend me your car hahahahaha.... oh wait you have seen me drive I'm mega bummed about not making this, haven't been to winton yet and been hanging to go... stoopid cars... there is always next year:(
  3. Chris your going to have to give me an oil lesson when I get my motor back together...

    Manifold Love

yeah reading up on it the crinkle paint, seems I can DIY it with a can etc... just don't want it flaking off 12 months down the line when its gone hot and cold a few hundred times thanks for the tips on the honing guys, I will drop John a line
  5. Netball! you could have at least lied and said basketball hahaha... nah seriously get better soon Chris, no fun sitting around injured... if you need anyone to drive you round I have 2 working legs but 1 broken car... we should team up LOL;)

    Manifold Love

hello all, I want to get my manifolds extrude honed and painted/polished while they are off... has anyone done this recently or know of anyhere in Vic that does this? I want to get some of that black crinkle paint (its like a textured finish) on my cam covers and a few other bits and pieces too, will any old paint shop do that or should I go to a specialty place? last time the machinists painted my cam covers with the wrong paint and it just flaked off and became brittle when it got hot, leaving it all look rather sh!thouse cheers, Nick
  7. I think we should have a Tsukuba challenge... take any Japanese car and mod it no higher than A grade (or whatever we agree) then blast around Tsukuba and record time... this might make for a longer contest as people try different setups etc to try and squeeze more time out
  8. there better be a public execution... seriously... let's see you dodge this one Bracks you fat bastard
  9. yeah I have a mad series 8 RX7 that I swapped a psycho bridge ported N/A 20B into... it drifts niiiice... go n/a power!
  10. forza FTW!... lose your front bar then come around on the next lap and smash it into a million pieces hehe
  11. I run with a SAFC (to lean out the mix, they run really rich off the stock ecu with the boost up) and an electronic boost controller... but if you can afford it a full standalone like the power fc is a better bet as you can adjust ignition timing... even then its a good idea to run a EBC as it holds the boost steady and has a few other useful functions... don't know why your boost is running away in the top end... 10 or 11psi isn't dangerous but spikes aren't generally a good thing... I use 10.5psi on track
  12. you should be more aware of cop cars and cameras around you, especially if your doing the wrong thing;) there is no excuse for letting a cop car get up behind you and match your speed when your doing 15 over the limit, how did you not notice them!? I got lots of tickets when I first got my car, lost 9 points in the space of 2 months... been clean for the last 3 years and now have all my points back... just get used to driving like an old lady and stay out of the right lane!
  13. yeah thats not a bad idea... you probably won't be finding the limits of the tires on the first time out... hopefully hehe;)
  14. I suck... 1:34.737... don't see where there is another 2 seconds! I can drop it 2 seconds by cutting the apex but I just pick up penalty time that way... meh the M3 drifts nicely tho, I got bored and started trying to drift the cork screw lol
  15. I'm in! my old 360 is broken so got impatient and bought another secondhand one... just so I could get Forza 2 LOL will have a crack tonight... if you want to make it even harder turn off the ABS too, you have to gently squeeeeeeze the brakes, none of this jumping on them super late and letting the abs kick in;)
  16. personally I was looking at the Nismo range in either a 1 or 1.5 way... the GT Pro would be good but its a bit expensive... you can pick a Kaaz diff up for about a grand on these forums which seems like good value for money... also Cusco and Tomei make diffs available through Nengun or Greenline... I was only leaning towards the Nismo as I know they are at the more streetable end of the market... however many of the diffs you can customise with different preloads so you have lots of options! no point in having more power if you can't put it down... you might look cool on the street but in competition its just embarrassing lol what tires will you be running?
  17. those aint dunlops on the front tho;) nice car, wonder if a chevy small block would fit in the 33... hmmm
  18. just be careful and make sure you overfill the oil by at least a litre and make sure to use good quality stuff... I have about 200rwkw off the stock turbo and just spun a bearing during a track day at Sandown... I will be doing all the oil control mods when its rebuilt this time... restricting the oil supply to the head, running an external drain, N1 oil pump, oil cooler etc see thread here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...173225&st=0 regards to suspension I run the Bilstein works kit listed in the group buy section of this forum... is great on the road and the track, maybe a bit soft for tracks like Phillip island where you would be better off with some super hard Teins or the like... its the stock diff that I hate, doesn't allow you to put the power down out of some corners, making you use a higher gear to stop it single spinning brakes I run Ferodo DS 2500's with RDA slotted/dimpled rotors and high temp fluid, no fade after 6-7 hot laps of Sandown I don't have any problems with cooling, stock radiator is a good bit of gear just make sure its flushed and working 100% that's about it, people might tell you its not much power but its enough to run some respectable times and frighten a few M3's. WRX's Evos and the like... providing you can drive;)
  19. they certainly have:) and they will reimburse anyone who has had repairs already... supposed to be costing Microsoft over $1Billion... ouch
  20. mate join the club... I had about 25,000km on my forged motor (exactly same specs as yours), now its sitting in the garage with a spun bearing... I did the same as you, assumed I could lean on it all I wanted because I had only 200rwkw... I just didn't look after it properly and was tracking it fairly frequently and it eventually cracked the sh!ts... however I will be extra upset if there is any piston damage like yours ps. I hope he didn't spend 9grand on that build... mine cost half that
  21. man don't they have enough cameras and other crap to catch you... you have the right NOT to incriminate yourself so if they can't get you fair and square and have to ask you how fast you were going you say 60km/h or whatever the limit is... if you are unsure of what the limit is just say 50km/h... even if the limit in that area is 70 or 100 when you say 50 they will get the message that your not going to incriminate yourself... they will then need to provide evidence or let you go... ps. this may just annoy them to the point of trying to get you for other stuff like defects etc... just don't do their work for them!
  22. Yeah I really don't want to send it to Microsoft... they will take months to fix it Thanks Ash, you have PM
  23. hey guys... well I broke my line a couple of weeks ago and it will be out of action for a few months... sooo brilliant I thought, its cold outside I will just sit at home playing 360 for a few weeks, not go out and save some cash for the rebuild... which would have been a great idea had my Xbox not decided to f**king break on me too! so my car is busted and now I can't play Forza Motorsport 2 which I have been waiting to come out for the last 12 months... I need to get my hoon on! Thank the son of rajab for Foxtel otherwise I might be forced to actually speak to my flatmates hehe so enough rambling, where should I take the 360 to get repaired? Its no longer under warranty, and I'm in Melbourne SE... ps. its flashing 3 red lights at me when I turn it on and making hideous noises through the amp/speakers... it won't even boot up without a game in there:(
  24. sorry guys should have posted earlier, turbo is sold
  25. no worries Al... was really just posting this to give some of the 25 guys a heads up... Craig I think its 4.5L to fill her up... Yeah Roy the oil was black as coal when I looked at it the Fri before I hit the track... but I thought... she'll be right lol
