  1. The transfer case in my R32 GTR looks to have packed a sad after a track day I had on Wed. It now screams when accelerating, I have a 4x4 controller and when I switch it to 2wd the noise goes away, I have been told it might be that I have overheated the plates, and also the bearings might be shot. Has any rebuilt one of these before? What parts did you need? Seals/bearings/plates etc? Also what are the thoughts of running a transfer case oil cooler like the Aussie Spec R32s and the N1s?
  2. Get your self some popcorn....it's over 50 pages long! Haha! http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/154737-sub-boys-r32-gt-r-then-now.html
  3. No, I had Sinco Customs make me one, it's similar to their TO4Z manifold, but has been lowered to suit the extra height of the RB30 and the size of the EFR.
  4. I have my 8374 fitting between the struts in my R32, and it has the T4 divided .92A/R IWG housing so it's even fussier to fit. Yeah it's tight, but no issues. You wouldn't want anything smaller than the .92a/r on an RB26 or RB30.....it's borderline too small on mine, I could still fit the A/C pump back in if I wanted......but I'm reserving the space for a dry sump pump one day :-)
  5. I highly doubt you will get 400kw with a RB26 on a 7163, stick with 8374
  6. Well I run a 8374 0.92 IWG on BP98 but on a built RB30 and it turns out 460KW ATW on a Hub dyno at 20psi. I think on a RB26 you should see 400KW without too much drama. I know I have 400cc more than you have, but I have much less lag than I had with -5's on a built RB26, it now has full boost by 3400rpm.....but even that figure doesn't do it justice, these things seem to spool from idle, the response is awesome!
  7. Hi Geoff, Have you got any details on the TurboSmart IWG? Is it a dual port?
  8. Haha! I know, one day maybe the 1.05a/r twin ext gates......
  9. Grrrr! Backpressure! One day I will get around to putting some exh sensors on to find why I can't squeeze any more than 20psi out of my 8374......E85 and 40psi, now that would be fun! Haha
  10. .......And Christchurch at that, so they are Earthquake proof! ;-)
  11. Well happy with my ViPec, wouldn't mind upgrading to the i88 to get the built in knock sensor......but other than that all good. ........and they are made about 10kms away from me, so handy!
  12. F1 needs: Bigger tyres Better tyres Less Aero Refuelling Lose the DRS Let drivers drive the cars hard......not baby the tyres because they are shit Give the cars more mechanical grip and less aero for closer racing and passing
  13. Woo! That is interesting! F1 tech!
  14. I see a couple of OE turbos now coming out with electronic wastegates, how long before we see these coming out for aftermarket turbos? I would think these might be an advantage to: Eliminate boost creep. Holding them shut during high back pressure (problem with my turbo) Boost tuning to maximise drivability Ability to run multiple boost levels Thoughts?
  15. I didn't notice any difference in pedal feel going from the factory master to the S15 turbo one on my Nismo Dual Plate Coppermix Clutch.....but then it is a bit of a softie anyway. I haven't tried it with any other clutches, I'm not sure what RIPS uses when he gets the adapters off me.
  16. What you need is one of these: I had one of these CNCed to run a S15 turbo master cylinder, it makes it bolt straight on and the rod length is perfect, and the pedal feel is no different with my twin plate clutch, I have a Greddy Plenum and there is plenty of Room on my RB30 ......RIPS now buys these off me for some of his builds.
  17. ^^^ What he said ......been asked a million times, same answer. 1, The fronts have waaaaaaaaaaay too much piston area to run on the back, you would never be able to get the bias right. 2, Even if you could get the bias right, you would need to change the brake master to something twice the size to move that much fluid around. 3, The fronts run a thicker disk, so you would need to get some custom rear hats made that incorporate the hand brake bell, and then find a disk the right size = expensive.
  18. Amen. Awesome brake kit......lousy standard pads! I've just put a set of Project MU "Club Racer" pads on, so yet to try them properly yet, but should be a big upgrade from the DS pads that come with them.
  19. Have you had a look at Project MU "Club Racer" pads. I've just got a set (yet to try them on track) for my Alcons after reading some very good reviews on here and many other forums
  20. Does anyone think that the Jap's can bring a car to beat Tilton,Nemo, and MCA next year? I love how Under Suzuki builds his car with such a limited budget (MCA too for that matter) and does so well with it, but even he has said that there is about five years worth of development left in his car at the rate that he can afford to do it So with Voltex being one of the leading players with aero, and being Japanese.......surely someone over there wants to beat the Aussies (and Kiwi ;-) ) at their game!?!?
  21. Well done Steve and all of your team! Was great to see it go so well and win its class......and give the Pro cars a good run for their money! Was going to come and say hi, but you guys always looked so busy when I walked down, I thought it was best to leave you alone. I hope you keep at it and improve it for next year.....keep a GT-R at the pointy end!
  22. This is the second WTAC that I've come across the ditch to watch. And for someone in NZ that we don't get a huge amount of Motorsport, I think it's fantastic! I'm lucky enough to hang out in the MCA garage, so you see a bit more of the other side of it......and, Yes, it would be better with some big screens and timing sectors, and maybe this will come in time, but for an all out show/display/race meeting I think Ian does a great job.....crazy character.....but does very well to set it up. Sure there are going to be things that I didn't like (like the commentators giving the lap time straight after he car had passed the finish line so you couldn't hear them over the exhaust)
  23. Been at World Time Attack in Sydney the last couple of days......1st and 3rd place cars were running BW EFR turbos, 9180 and 8374 (although I think the 8374 was a bit of a "special model".....care to tell Geoff Racier?) What a fantastic event! With Japanese superstars like Tarzan, Nob, and Under Suzuki there..... ......Now they just need to build some cars to takes of the dominance of the Aussies (with one Kiwi driver
