  1. Hey guy's, Yeah I bought the one on trade me with the service schedule. This all comes in a black outer cover which makes it look that much more OEM and fits nicely in the glovebox. All for an extra $5! I've already got the V35 set they do (which I'll now sell) and it's all well presented. I'll see about a pic when I receive it.
  2. Thanks heaps Dave! I've just ordered one..... now for the workshop manual.
  3. I just did my plugs today as well and guess what....I found about 30ml of oil in the tube nearest the passanger. Just the same as the others here. I sucked it out, cleaned it up and put it all back together. Car has done 107k and the plugs were in need of a change. It is running noticeable better now and I expect the fuel economy to improve as well but I am reluctant to leave this rocker cover problem for too long so I'll get a quote for the work from the local nissan dealer...gulp! I'll keep you posted.
  4. Damn that's a sharp install price! Go for that! The delivery portion of the $70 I paid was $5 . So for $20 he's either A) damn good & fast, B) have a crap hourly rate or C) gets them for near nothing . Ha ha now lets see how I get on doing it.
  5. Hey Dave, thanks for the info mate. I will try out the 2000 and see how it goes. Truth be told I don't listen to the radio much at all, gave up on it years ago (except maybe a kiwi cricket match), I just like to have all the options working . And with all the extras I'm about to have, it may never get a look in. I will of course be testing this unit out and you never know I just might enjoy the radio once again.
  6. Wow if it's the same unit as I've got then the instalation is bloody cheap ...maybe they've never seen one of our cars
  7. I got mine from the kiwi crowd 'Electronic Developments Ltd' Very nice, well built unit that is nissan specific and only cost $70 delivered. Model # PB2000N. I'll install it myself for free . Cheers.
  8. Cheez, i've been laid up for a few days (thanks to a bug from one kids school) and we're another page ahead with another new kiwi, Hi Tim..welcome! Also thanks for the extra info there James on the Gull 98, helps to read up on all angles with this! Still keen to give it a go to do a km/L against the mainstream offerings. Hopefully I'll get to the Anycar setup this week, Thursday is planned but still requires the misses to confirm her participation in collecting the kiddies. Looking forward to getting all these little bits and pieces finally installed (FM extender to go in as well). On paper this setup seems the go for my application and might just be the best bang for the buck. I'll keep you all posted.
  9. Thanks Chad, you make a good point...again! Might warrant further investigation for use with direct injection.
  10. Yeah good call on the BP blunder, unfortunitely for me there is no Mobil close that stocks 98 and the BP that does is just down the road. Interesting that our cars are drinking almost the same. Mine being the 3L wagon, just shows you how similar they all are.
  11. Thanks for all the feedback. I might give Gull 98 a go then. I've been using BP 98 for about 3k and it's been faultless. Getting an average of 12.5L/100km, mostly city driving as well so I'm happy with that. Interesting to compare, especially if it's cheaper!
  12. Ha ha yep plenty of puzzled looks. Had a few ask me about it, one guy stopped me in a car park to ask me as he was considering one himself. I'm certainly very happy with my purchase and would recommend to anyone (tip tronic aside, I don't use it for that reason). As for the ipod dock, it does require instalation into the back of the deck. This does look to be a big job but there is good information and pics both here and at G35.com. I've had a good look through and and a poke around the dash and intend on getting it done one day next week. If your handy with tools it shouldn't be a prob. just got to plan well so no surprises. The unit does not display song info on the car deck, only on your ipod. It does charge the ipod though and your steering wheel controls work also, if you have this. You access the input by pushing the disc button once for CD then again for ipod, the main deck display just shows disk 1 song 1 as if a CD. The model I got was for our nissan and is AL-1080D. This also has a 3.5mm aux input which I will use for the rear DVD player, if I want to hear it, and if I want I can plug a minidisc or similar into this as well. It has a button on the unit to change between inputs. I've got kids so DVD is useful but I doubt your dogs need DVD . Here's the link: http://www.anycarlink.com/ For me this covered all bases and retained all standard features. As for playing the DVD thru the factory front screen that will require the AV lead from Chris Rodgers (on this site) and will plug into the TV tuner box in the rear (NTSC required). Actually Chris has everything you need to do whatever with these, sometimes it's just a pity he's over there. You should talk with him about options. And a combined kiwi section sounds good too...probably won't happen though and as our cars are essentially the same you'll have to spend as much time in this V section as well gathering info. Cheers.
  13. Hey James, welcome to the kiwi thread! Nice looking stag you have there. I'm noticing more and more now that I have one and there are a few for sale so expect more around. Good thing is they'll never be as common as the other wagons and they're better than most. I've found a local solution for Ipod & aux audio into the main deck and I will be instaling this shortly so will report more soon. It's called the Anycar link and is available for our cars. It plugs into the back of the CD changer as they have a second unused input, and alows you to run everything, including the CD changer. The guy is in Chch and lists on trade, me. He has been really helpful even sending me photos to assist instalation. It is a really good solution, give it a google to check it out. I'll get more details for you soon as I have to go now. Oh and yes 98 ron is the way to go with these! Cheers.
  14. Hi Pat, welcome and congrats. on your purchase. Same motor as my stag, awesome, smooth and powerful. Enjoy!
  15. Second this!
  16. Dude, thank you, that is just so good. Ask and you shall receive. Got lots of little things I'd like to do (& fix) around the car and these just make it so much easier & quicker.
  17. Awesome find Dunc This is a great help, I so needed this. I've been looking for something before I rip the intake apart as we still might have a long wait for the translation so this is just perfect. I just need to find the interior & trim section now to make pulling that apart easier. I hate not having info for this, nothing worse than breaking a lug or something the first time you do it. Wouldn't happen to have this as well, that would totally make my day .
  18. Wow, nice wide tyres and a great deal. I bet it looks great from the rear. Do you think we could get a pic (when it's light) low down from the rear looking back along one side. Also good to know that size doesn't touch anything with such a wide tyre. Does the steering still feel good at slow speeds? Thanks in advance!
  19. I agree and personally I would love to do it, I don't mind a firmer ride with a lower centre of gravity. Would handle better & it looks just right as well! I could be wrong but if you just did the springs wouldn't you get a firmer ride, maybe not harsh or bouncier if well matched but surely firmer. What with the decrease in tyre height from lower profiles, the reduction in your useable shock stroke and wouldn't you need a heavier spring rate from standard if you had a shorter spring. I'd still be interested in doing this all one day if the ride quality remained and as these assumptions are based on limited knowledge from many years ago I'd be keen to hear from you or anyone that does or has done this. Ha, the first car I lowered (many, many years ago) we just chopped the springs with an angle grinder one day and went cruising . I did do alot better on later cars though. I've actually recently been offered a set of 35mm lower RSR m35 springs for a reasonable price, still haven't made up my mind on this yet but the family comfort, need to tow a dirt bike and issues offroad when going to dirtbike events means I'd probably regret it so maybe not. Still love the look though and if someone assured me I'd have no issues with the above I'd be in. Pity I can't borrow them to try out . I'm sure though if you spent the money and did a good job on everything you could get a really good ride with next to no compromises!
  20. That looks good, they are nice rims . I believe if you're going bigger then the 19" are the best looking size for our cars. Lowered looks really good too and goes well with the bigger rims, it just depends on who would give a damn about the decreased ride quality. Years ago I would of done this without thinking twice! Now I'm having to accept the fact that the family might not like it so much .
  21. Dave, after sizing some options on the calculator I had a quick chat to my local tyre guy, as our 17's are only 7" wide he said the 235's would be a good fit but you wouldn't go any wider. I was looking at a 50 profile to retain the stock rolling radius and give a wider stance but a 55 should be fine to correct the speedo error you calculated. Not sure but these may turn out to be an uncommon size and lacking choice though. I'll have to have another more detailed chat to him. To clarify so far. Stock is 215/55-17. Wider but stock radius is 235/50-17 (max. size) Wider and taller is 235/55-17 Taller only would be a 225/55-17 as the width change is negligable i think this would just add to the height ratio.
  22. Hi Dave, 17's look great in the photo and seem to suit the car well, I'd be sticking with those. I think I'll stay with these standard 17's on mine as well. The more I look at them the more I like them. At tire change time I'll be looking for a quiet 235/50-17. The calculator listed this as almost a perfect match for the standard 215/55-17. My current tires are Japanese Bridgestone PZ-1's and I must say they are a good tyre. Very quiet and good in both wet & dry, unfortunitely unavailable outside Japan but i'm sure there will be something similar locally. These cars are so smooth that a quiet tyre is a must as not to spoil the ride.
  23. Well I'm still in. I hope it gives all the info needed for a home service etc. I guess we'll wait and see but I think it will be ok. Anyway at least I can get on their case as they are local. Haven't they already done one for the earlier stag? If so, was it alright?
  24. Hey Chasey sweet looking ride. I'm looking for an Aero front bar, they really suit the M35 and yours just sealed it for me. And yeah there are heaps of M35's around now, prices are good and they're alot of car. Auckland prices range from about 8k at the bottom (high km) to about 16k for low km top of range. Even a few 3.5's available now.
  25. Ha how about that then! Congrats. on your purchase Dave. I was just coming on now to inform you all of this very listing. Oh well a very good score I might add!
