Wheel And Tyre Setup Advice For 9sec Quater.
Duncan replied to Damien2's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Well I'm no good for wheel size for drag use, but if you are running 33 brembos you will need at least a 17" wheel. Assuming you know how much stopping you need, I would expect anything down to R32 gtst 280mm setup should bolt up and may let you get away with 15" wheels -
Cleaned up as per my last post other than the one clearly on topic comment. I'll warn/barn anyone who wants to continue off topic

It surely is...this is not going to become the 3rd "Pete's saga" thread. Any further discussion on a specific issue can be posted elsewhere, please keep this on topic

Interesting timing for this thread....for those that think maybe the rules are a bit paranoid or tight here. On Friday Google was held responsible for defamation by the High Court because it provides links to defamatory material. Extract from the SMH article covering it, and the full link: http://www.smh.com.au/technology/technology-news/google-responsible-for-linking-to-defamatory-websites-australian-court-20151101-gko9l8.html The South Australian Supreme Court this week found that Google is legally responsible when its search results link to defamatory content on the web. In this long-running case, Dr Janice Duffy has been trying for more than six years to clear her name and remove links to defamatory material when people search for her using Google. The main culprit is the US based website Ripoff Reports, where people have posted negative reviews of Dr Duffy. Under United States law, defamation is very hard to prove, and US websites are not liable for comments made by their users. Since it was not possible to get harmful or abusive comments removed from the source, Dr Duffy instead asked Google to remove the links from its search results. Google removed some of these links, but only from its Australian domain (google.com.au), and it left many of them active.

Duncan's Race Car - The Most Overdue Build Thread On Sau
Duncan replied to Duncan's topic in Motorsport Builds
Well, Neil and Kate dropped by again today, but unfortunately it was more taking apart....there's not much left in this car to remove now even if I wanted to. Removed the interior including dash to take the opportunity to rewire...also removed the brake booster while access to the pedal was easy(er) I'm moving to a haltec including dash so a lot of the gauges etc are going, its a good chance to simplify everything. While this has been a race car for 10 years it was never really stripped in the first place, there is still plenty of tar and insulation, and none of the original wiring had ever been removed either Removed the old brake booster, and the clutch master cylinder to replace them Since the engine was on the stand and I have a shiney new front diff, we swapped the sump over too. No signs of bearings falling out for once (yet....) -
The only reason I could think of for a thread like that still to be open would be if the forum owner started it. Feel free to use "Report" if you see something like that and the section mods can review it.
-
Well actually....rule 2 says: Treat all members with respect and courtesy - We will ban any member(s) who make personal attacks, threats or mistreats any other member in anyway (discretion is up to the moderator at the time of the offence)
-
well I've got absolutely no idea there....not even on the damn thing

So, to clarify some facts.... 1. skylinesaustralia.com is a privately owned website, Christian (Prank) is the owner. He has appointed volunteer moderators and admins to help the site run smoothly. Let's think of it as a benevolent dictatorship with a secret police network. 2. There are a series of state based not for profit clubs like SAU.NSW. Other than using these forums and a big overlap in members, there is no formal link between the clubs and the forums. The forums are member based organisations with elected committees. So people can join them and have their say if they want things to work differently (within the limits of state law and club constitutions) 3. Everyone agreed to the forum rules when they signed up, and they are at the bottom right of every page for forgetful people. In the case of businesses the relevant rule is: Defamatory remarks made towards businesses or individuals will not be tolerated on this website - We understand that if you have had a bad experience with a business you want to warn other people of said experience. Unfortunately, the same publicly expressed opinion could be viewed as libelous and/or constitute an attempt to deter business from any individual or business. Australian law holds the site owner partly responsible for any defamatory remarks posted on said website, and that is unacceptable. Informing people via PM's is tolerated as it is not a public message. With this said, feel free to post any information about a business or individual that you have had good dealings with. So, taking that all into account, why should Christian take a personal, legal risk because someone wants to (fairly, or unfairly) make negative comments about a workshop? Over 13 years this forum has been running there have been many, many bad experiences with workshops, lots of them have been posted here, many have led to legal threats and some have started legal proceedings. And yet, because of tight guidelines and quick actions enforcing those guidelines, Christian has not had to defend (or worse, lose) formal legal proceedings which would be very personally expensive. Lots of other forums have come and gone in that time. As Pete said, the best thing you can do if you want to share a poor experience is to state the facts of what has occurred as you understand them (non-emotional), and do not publically name the workshop in the thread. Pete has in fact had one of the worse experiences I have heard of lately, but both of his threads are still here because they were largely fact based (taking into account many people posted in them) and the workshop was not specifically named. I and other mods had to remove some posts and warn some posters about coming close to breaching rules but overall the threads have not needed to be removed. If the workshop in question contacted the forum and threatened legal action we would probably agree to hide (not delete) the threads, this has certainly happened in the past. I'd suggest that anyone who wants a place to post whatever negative comments they wist put their money where their keyboard is and start their own forum to do so.
-
And even stranger, does that mean Pete was sober for 24 hours????
-
so I still don't understand Natsoft; did you guys come home 14th, 122 laps down, and have the second fastest lap?
-
ha! first time anything Pete has been driving has been called fast!
-
haha yeah that would do it. You could always buy a new nylon one from Nissan, they are about $1.50
-
Its hard to tell from Natsoft, but they way I read it you guys made it through 8 hours, coming 10th, and have the 2nd fast lap? If so damn good work!
-
more helpfully though, are you using the rb26 resistor pack (or maybe rb20 has one too?) You might just have simple bad wiring there
-
Wow, this is an odd problem!
-
well I've got a consult 3 in Sydney, happy to plug it in for only $155.99/hr. Or for nothing. BTW most generic scan tools at your average workshop should still work I think, the local place was certainly able to read my non-OBD2 Cima the other day

Rb25det Rear Sump Hitting Transmission Bracket
Duncan replied to RB036's topic in General Maintenance
hahaha this is the opposite of the doing skids on the way to the bottle shop thread. Nissan thought having additional support over the 4 block to gearbox bolts was a good idea, I'd take their lead. Depending on what you mean about the "rear sump" I'd be looking to add some sort of custom bracket to at least 2 bolts. -

255 On An 8in Rim?
Duncan replied to mistermeena's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
for track only, right? it's probably not legal for street use as its outside those secret specs that only tyre fitters have but are still apparently legal requirements... I suspect you wouldn't notice any additional sidewall movement on the track unless you ran them back to back with 245s....just go for it -
So as I'm doing a bunch of work on the car, I thought I'd make sure it was e85 ready if I want to go that way in the future. I currently have a teeny low pressure/high flow pump in the standard holder in the tank (nice and low) and a good old bosch 044 under a surge tank that sits under the rear sear outside the car. It's a great setup but AFAIK neither pump will survive if I run e85 through it. What are people using for e85 safe lift pumps, and are there any external pumps similar in size to an 044 (so I don't have to stuff around with the setup too much)? I bought the big e85 walbro but it doesn't suit external use and is crazy big to use as the lift pump (who wants to warm and circulate that much fuel..... Car only makes 310kw at high boost on e85 so it doesn't need 400kw+ pumps.

Are you looking for high beam only? I recently went LED high beams in the Leaf, not sure what globe type the stag takes but you may be able to use the same or similar http://www.banggood.com/H8-H9-H11-20W-Cree-XML-2-LED-SMD-Car-Fog-Headlight-Light-Bulb-Xenon-White-p-976889.html

Test For Coolant System Additives To Stop Leaks
Duncan replied to Nismo 3.2ish's topic in General Maintenance
hmm I was just thinking about this thread the other day. cracked block would be a bad outcome, but it doesn't really reflect on any shop involved in the build, its more just bad luck. You were pushing a mile of power through a standard wall block and it's not unheard of. -
very unlikely the ECU is worth fixing if swapping it showed it was the problem. I guess a standard ECU is worth about 100.

haha Tsukada-san is awesome. He comes out here every year to help with Steve and Kel's car at Targa Tasmania. Super knowledgeable and committed but still enjoys these old dinosaurs Great trick to find your car on an old DVD, you should buy a lotto ticket....
