Do school holidays finish this weekend?

Is that what I've been doing wrong!? Any other tips?

Fixed.

I indeed would like to apologise for any impression that I do not support Nitto's products. In fact, I use them and have done so for many years with success. And as Andrew mentioned those guys went way above and beyond for me over the Christmas break a couple of years back when I had an issue (dodgy workshop, not their products). Their oil pump ate a bolt head and still ran for 000s of klm with only light marks to the pump. In fact the pump was working OK, the engine only died because sufficient oil volume could not get into the pump entry. My point was, and I believe JEM also made it on the night, that you don't need to spend big (or maybe anything) on engine parts to achieve most goals. There were at least 4 examples given on the night of 400kw+ cars with standard bottom ends and mostly standard heads. On the other hand, if you want and can afford 800kw atw, go for the Nitto gear and enjoy it.

haha I had the same problem, was way late due to M5. On the bright side I missed most of the nitto bit
-
This was an interesting night, and I was impressed by the professionalism and accurate answers from the JEM guys. I hadn't been there before but will put them on the list for future. On the other hand, it was great to arrive late and miss the 4th performance in 12 months or so from the "why you should spend $15k on internals for your street car" sales pitch from Nitto. Their gear is excellent....but only 1% of people need excellent. Thanks for putting this event on team

They should have had one of those 1kg fire extinguishers on board. They are comfortable to sit on while you watch the car burn to the ground helplessly. Did you bring marshmellows?
-
It's pretty simple really, you just need a mind shift. We all remember to recharge our phones and don't worry about 5min charges while we are out and about. When you park the car you just need to consider if it needs charging before it's next use. Having said that, I can't see myself living without a petrol car as well for lots of other uses including backup. Some cars have been looking at quick battery swaps including one of the Renaults, but I think it is a long shot considering the infrastructure, the cost of each pack, and the fact that how you treat the battery makes a big difference to it's life....we all know how a hire car is treated vs your own car.....

What too lazy to stick your head out on the street and see mine as well Was your car there or did you bring something else?

S A U - N S W Tech Night For Members 24Th Apr - Engine Builds
Duncan replied to GTR-N1's topic in Events Archive
W00t made it to king Georges rd already. Should be there by 8:30. Whers that rant thread? -
excellent video Simon....we are a long way off that yet but I have no doubt we will all end up there (except for dirty old race cars) soon enough. As battery prices come down it will totally change the costs. re the wheels, my theory is something light and with larger spokes will have less unsprung weight than the stocker cast wheels, so it may not be a downgrade on range. And it really does need a bit more grip. And let's face it....who on this forum has ever decided not to do a mod because it would result in 1% less from a tank of fuel

S A U - N S W Tech Night For Members 24Th Apr - Engine Builds
Duncan replied to GTR-N1's topic in Events Archive
I'm doing that drive too, but I don't think it will be as bad as normal due to school holidays. I'm out the door at 5....will see if I make it for 6.30 -
we took it to the SAU texi a few weeks back. I finished 4th (some courses in the stagea) and Kel finished 7th (all leaf). So it certainly gets up and goes fine. it handled like a fat hatchback though, need to do something about that.....so we have a set of blitz ZZR springs and shocks on the way. Also looking into some custom swaybars because I think that is the big thing it is missing. here is one of the runs, all of them are up on youtube if you like tyre squeal without engine noise. Roy, yes it does run KERS and the braking appears adequate....so no 8 piston brembo setups required. other than a little ricing it up a little, the only other sensible thing to do for now is put some lighter and larger wheels on it. It takes GTR size and offsets, does anyone have a suggestion of a forged wheel that will look good on a fat black hatch?
-
how f**king rude. start a build thread and then ignore it! well we have not found any way to do anything about the motor's output, and probably won't while it is under warranty. I would hate to think about the cost of replacement. we've been running the car daily for about 3 months now and it has been excellent. great hooning through traffic, and no-one ever suspects the ninja leaf is about to zoom past them. cost wise, we charge it every 2-3 days @about $2. So about $5pw compared to $100pw petrol for the stagea. It will still take about 1000 years to recover the higher purchase price range wise has been interesting. Obviously no issue in day to day use. The speed you travel at makes a huge difference though, it literally uses twice the juice at 110 as it does at 70 (this is probably also true for a petrol car but we just don't notice). I have twice had to drop back to about 70 on freeways to get the range back.

Stagea Wgnc34 Ecu Pinout. Once Again.
Duncan replied to XPbIM3's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Hi mate, I'm sure you saw from the other thread, I am also "lucky" enough to have this ECU. Are you using the matching loom and ECU, or do you need to play with the loom? If you are using a matched ECU and loom you should not have any issues. If you need to change the wiring or ECU like I did it, it is a problem. I do not have a pinout for it, the changes we made were 1 by 1 testing. If you do find a full pinout it would be helpful. The workshop manual only covers the first pinout, not this one or the last one before series 2. -
Christian will have to answer the first, I assume there is something which thinks you are a spam bot at times. (might be true?) 2. Yes some forums require moderation before you can see a topic, but that applies to everyone including the original poster. The moderated sections (Builds, DIYs, etc) are because people consistently post the wrong sort of threads in those sections and we want the chance to move them first. If you can see a new thread and someone else can't straight away, it must be some sort of server or local caching issue.

yeah the standard stag does understeer under power which is pretty normal for a big, front heavy wagon. this is a great place to start, and I'd do the front sway bar as well. They really transform how the car feels because the factory bars are small for such a big car. I've also done shocks and springs later. Once you fix the balance you will probably by happy with when it understeers and when it oversteers.... Most 4wd controllers only modify the standard system, and all of them can only add front wheel drive (or turn front wheels off completely), they can't reduce front wheel drive. There are a couple of expensive systems that replace the whole attessa system; they may be able to reduce fwd.

R33 Gts4 Front Coilovers
Duncan replied to 33gts4's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I mate, did those shocks includes springs? it is the spring that determines the ride hight, not the shock itself. sorry I don't know if 33 gtst/33 gtr/33gts4 front shocks and springs are the same. They certainly were not in 32 series. -
Did I see that right? 2x $200 fuel pumps + surge tank for $920. fking bargain. I have an earlier version of this (and only needed 1 pump), and it has been excellent. the best thing about this sort of setup is that it's not in the boot, so you don't get fuel fumes or have to seal off the boot for motorsport. bolt on, wire in, and go

Changed Brake Pads Need Help.
Duncan replied to baysideblue14's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
great post. -
are you confident the wheels were balanced properly? hub location is not often a problem, the wheel studs, especically when the wheel nut holes have a taper, generally pull it into the correct position

R32 Gtr Tyre Placard - Picture Please
Duncan replied to Sinista32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
There is no tyre placard from the factory, anything was added here at compliance. factory wheel sizes were 16x8 or 17x8 on the vspec.
