  1. you are brave to trust the internet Mark! I was going to say I know Terry and Chris personally, and then say something nice about them - but I got this email through the other club today: I am a fellow racer in a HSV Production Car #3 and I would like the opportunity to represent all members but in particular – Racing Drivers who feel that they don’t have a voice. In the past two years the ARDC has been going in a good direction but we can do more for our Racing members. I would like to focus on competitive value as well as membership value. I would like to look at race drive time, event security, parking and access, which are the most common gripes on race day. I will always welcome member discussion on issues and your suggestions to fix those issues. Look for me on the Ballot paper… Thanks for your consideration. Chris Reeves My involvement in Motorsport has spanned the past fifty years, and I have watched it grow from backyard specials to today's highly technical race cars. In that time Production Car racing has been the starting point for many of Australia's top Racing Drivers, but has been through tough times due being over shadowed by higher profile Classes which has pushed it into the background. Ten years ago Sam Rigoli and myself sat down and created Combined Touring Cars with an emphasis on 3E Production Vehicles, which is now Production Touring, and has matured into the largest State based dedicated Production Car Championship in Australia, even overshadowing the National Championship. During my first term on the ARDC Board I proposed that we promote an Endurance Race for Production Cars at the end of each year to cater for the loss of the Bathurst 12 Hour, and in that time we have alternated as either an 8 or 6 Hour event which means that Eastern Creek Raceway provides six meetings a year for 3E Production Cars. Our Class is not the only one that competes at the Creek and as a member of the Board I have to be part of a team that covers all aspects of the Sport including making decisions relating to the $9000 000 upgrade that will make the Creek the best Motorsport Facility in Australia. As a Street Sedan Racing Association and an ARDC Club and Board member I will continue to emphasise the importance of Production Car Racing and act in the best interest as a representative for both organisations on the Board of the ARDC. Terry Conroy It's your vote, but in my opinion the current board that obtained funding to split the track in 2 to make more money at the cost of a good race track, don't deserve support. There is no doubt that people like Neil Turner put in a hge amount of effort into CAMS each year, but they really are the "institution" that protect current interests rather than opening up new ideas. For example - CAMS and ARDC worked together to shut down the WSID car park as a location for drifting because it competed with their skidpan (which is too expensive and not often available). They frequently look after big/commercial interests instead of club and grass roots motorsport.
  2. Need pics Gavin! Jai, that is the manual console, it allows for a standard style handbrake. Available from nissan, but expensive.
  3. I have not fitted one personally, but I am sure 32/33 and probably 34 driveshaft will be interchangeable. The gearbox, block and diffs are all interchangeable, so the driveshaft must be too.
  4. hey why not....Rosie has brought her mazda 3 to a few events, and a starlet finished in the top 5 the first time we ran down there
  5. Maybe....I stuffed around and tried a million things to get this to work - but here is what I think did the trick. Create a shortcut to FC-Edit.exe (or just use the start menu one) Right click and choose Properties Choose the Compatibility Tab Select "Run this program as an administrator" Click OK. Depending on your UAV settings, you may get a windows warning every time you start the program....but at least it works. NFI why, but maybe there are smarter PC people on here that can explain it.
  6. I saw a further update from Bec today: We are so grateful for all your generous support and so many, many kind offers of help. Christian is doing much better today after giving us a scare yesterday with breathing trouble. He is on the ward and hopefully will be home at the end of the week once they are happy with his lungs. Thank you with all my heart for looking after christian, myself and the girls. Bec xx Keep up the best wishes everyone!
  7. Yep that is all you need to do at a place like this, and it really is no different to a tarmac rally. You just choose what you think is a safe pace - if you think 110% like you might on a track, it can be dangerous or expensive. But if you keep some in reserve and show respect to the track and conditions it is fine. There are very few places in NSW where you can head along a 1 lane road at any speed you like, no worries abiout speed cameras....so don't miss this!
  8. Thanks, good clarification
  9. Paul Ruzic (Mountainrunner on here) is an electronics engineer and excellent bloke. In his spare time he creates cool little electric gadgets for cars but mostly skylines. and he runs lots of track events up in QLD.
  10. spot on, and that is the tip of the iceberg in classic. all before the cheating even starts. tells you all you need to know about that competition. speaking of classic, sav how did you end up in early modern instead of classic? Was that because Marlin Ben upset the porsches a few years back? great work this year in what was probably the cheapest car in the event
  11. f**k it, this place is too much fun. I'm going to get the race car going for this.
  12. yes, it absolutely needs to be rising rate in a turbo car - the rising means that fuel pressure rises as your boost does.
  13. ahh yep sorry, I was thinking of v700. v710 looks pretty aggressive BTW it probably doesn't matter for you, but v710 are not on the CAMS tyre list.
  14. BAM! SAU never fails to deliver, those seats were one of the least likely ones I thought we would find. I don't suppose you have a tent with a nissan part number hanging off the roof as well? Hey Brendan...my friends at lincorp said that part number does not match the car, or maybe that the part number was not valid. Can you confirm G685X-0V000?
  15. Indeed, there are still some v710 new I think, but most are now v70a. they are among the quicker tyres, especially on a lighter car. they were very popular when they were the IPRA control tyre about 10 years ago before they moved to the super expensive yokos. they performed better when buffed but I guess you don't want to bother. one thing I found with v70A which may also be true in v710, high tyre pressures gave the best performance under the gtr. when I say high, I mean 42-44 hot which is outrageous take them if the price is right
  16. cancel that....I can't download the form, maybe it went missing in the forum upgrade? money sent anyway
  17. there is no run off...so stay on the road. This track is exactly like every twisty road you have ever wanted to hoon down without a speed limit. Yes it would be a bad idea to fall off, so drive within your (and the car's limits) and have a ball. I'll am in for sure, entry form and money sent tonight. No idea which car yet, I'll find something somewhere...I'm not missing this track.
  18. unless you are very unlucky and break down, there would be no issues. and how likely is it to break down on a gentle drive at 100klm/h for hours at a time? I drove my old r33 gtst from sydney to alice springs about 10 years ago, and had it up there for about a year before bringing it home. Other than finding 98 octane there was absolutely no issues. You can be sure nissan's engineers looked after the sealing, air con performance etc etc much better than the falcodores' ones did.
  19. actually, on second thoughts I have run out of fuel 3 times. Happened at an enduro at Oran Park years ago too. Same thing....it coughed coming off the bridge, I backed off and drove into the pits swearing. No engine damage
  20. I am not sure where the experience of empty surge tanks killing engines comes from...to me it sounds a like a bit of an internet myth. I have run the race car out of fuel a twice during races- surge tank empties, car coughs in corner, driver backs off. I have also had a fuel pump fail (came loose in tank tearing wiring off after a rally crash). In 3 cases, even though it has happened to me at full throttle and very hot motor each time, it has not resulted in any damage. The fact is, it is vey unlikely that a car will fire with insufficient fuel pressure. You need approx 7:1 to 20:1 for a cylinder to fire. If you drop to 50% or less of the expected pressure, you can almost guarantee a missfire, not a lean out. And even in a cylinder or 2 fires lean once or twice, there is no way it will keep firing at that level, it will almost instantly start missifirng. I run Paul's Engine Monitor too, and that is defiantely your answer. Just set a warning on low fuel pressure. That way not matter whether it is the main pump, lift pump, main tank, surge tank or even regulator that fails, you will be warned.
  21. And, I'll add that Brad has done a lot of work on my, and other SAU-ers cars, over the years, he does a great job at an excellent price
  22. I like how that cowboy thinks. Keep in mind you will have troubles with the auto if you change computer (ie change to an rb26).
  23. now there is some good news....off to order
  24. I'm not sure about the rules in Vic, but in NSW a trailer with over 2 tonnes needs a breakaway braking system. Can't say I've ever seen a GTR on a trailer with such a system.
  25. Hi All, I am not sure if everyone is aware of this, but the founder of these forums and the club, Christian, has had a very serious medical issue 2 days ago. He is very lucky to be alive. His wife Bec sent the following update: For anyone that doesn't know Christian had an aortic aneurism and had emergency cardiac surgery on Wednesday as it split his aorta and coronary arteries. Thankyou for your love and thoughts, I know he appreciates them so much as do I. He is stable now but on a ventilator which they hope to get him breathing on his own today so they can get him off it. if you could please send him thoughts of strength today that would be so helpful. Bec This club would never have existed without Christian's efforts, and equally, most of us probably would never have met without his creation and maintenance of these forums. And, he is a damn good bloke who has never failed to try to do the right thing in the 10+ years I have known him. All the best with your recovery, Christian
