  1. Good to cross paths again, it's been a while. The brakes are actually why I was there..... while they do technically "fit" under the current rims, they are so close that you can't put balancing weights on the wheels, and it's finally tipped me over the edge to grab some larger wheels. Did you get th oil change done OK?
  2. my plans next year? probably a last season with the 32 in prod cars, then build something a little quicker. It is getting very long in the tooth and no chance against other things like evo X running a "standard" 1.6bar (I get 0.8 bar). I would like to do some more irace/aasa/mra etc but it always depends on when the car is running, state round dates and budget
  3. ahh yeah, some practicality lost, but otherwise it's pretty good. I like a home built race car, they can have heaps of good ideas. Like the rear door on that one for instance
  4. yep, that is indeed a good start. too small but at least it gives an idea of how they would look. actually that looks like a well built car at a glance
  5. lol that's one of the commonwhores from my category, production cars. the car he took out in turn 1 is a very experienced rally driver but new circuit guy, must have been quite a surprise. Anyway....good luck for those entering the EC national sprint....but definately not for me at that price to track time ratio
  6. The tyres and size should be OK on face value - how old are they? What are your rear wheel alignment settings? Do the wheels tramp (bounce) or spin evenly? Is it 1 wheel spinning or both?
  7. anyone seens pics of a stag with big wheel flares?
  8. jeebus. 2nd broken shock this month. I'd love any theories about how that happens in a double wishbone setup....loose or missing bottom nut is the only way I can think of
  9. I get the points. Wait until the big ends are checked. f**ked bearings/clearances = low oil pressure under load.
  10. Firstly, I much prefer the QLD format and voted that way at last year's event. But, 1.4 is how NSW and Vic run the events, it's just that they normally start 2 cars at a time from the pits, not from the starting grid (you will notice it doesn't say where they have to start). It also doesn't say where if it is timed over a single lap or total time from start for all laps to finish. And finally, there were heaps of different rules in QLD related to classes. There was no standard class as there was the year before, and neither were the classes in the CAMS manual followed. In fact my car was put into sports cars where a GTR is not even eligible instead of some sort of touring car class which it is log booked as. No Skylines are eligible in sports cars yet, a fact I am working with the SCRAA to fix because their rules are potentially more skyline friendly than IPRA! But I guess the point is, there isn't really much value in an annual championship with totally different rules every year. I don't really care what they decide, just choose something and stick to it!
  11. yeah those kumho medium/softs are indeed soft....I overheated a set it 3-4 laps. Still great grip though
  12. here also: http://www.speedcafe.com/2011/10/27/video-new-eastern-creek-north-circuit/ Rod was obviously proud of the lap, he had it sent out to all club members. I would think that Graeme Shaw (Emo X) would be anything but happy at that very clumsy pass. He has been doing rallies for years and is doing a few races with us for the first time this year.
  13. BTW, Is racing fun? I can't remember
  14. good work Chris....you got a lot of races in! But TBH I was wondering if zeb was serious when I couldn't find you in the last race's results...
  15. ouch! No it's definately not safe to drive anywhere. Pretty big co-incidence that it was at a suspension place, and then a suspension part broke (even at the other end of the car). I'd ring and ask them if they did anythign with the front suspension, and then let them know what happened depending on their answer. That is a big piece of steel to snap unless somethign was not done up properly...... You need to buy shocks as a pair, or even better a set of 4, so look around for something new, and hope the suspension place will chip in
  16. +1...something must have been happening by now
  17. Indeed....they are also different front v rear hubs....fronts match something common locally like a pulsar. BTW I hate that a 34 gtr diff ratio can't fit inside a 32, 33 or stagea front sump
  18. Would have been caused by cold tyres for sure. Even the professionals fall for that
  19. Are you filling through the gearbox filler hole or gear shifter?
  20. meh half million dollar car, it's worth fixing. plus let's remember the VL is the only good commodore holden ever made
  21. Was that Kermit I saw on TV today?
  22. I was hoping there would be some by now, or feedback from someone who has run the new track That's exactly how I see it without having tried it yet. It increases the worst thing about the track (dragstrip/power track) while removing some of the challenging corners. In a soft car like mine I guess the new turn 4/5/6 complex will be easy to cut, we approach turn 4 in high 3rd or low 4th gear so we aren't as fast or as stiffly sprung as the radicals in the video. I bet the IPRA guys were cutting like crazy. Well, to me, Oran Park South was one of the few track that was not really worth running on. I turned down plenty of chance to run there, the OP GP circuit was a totally different matter, its the best track I've run on. And it at least had the challenges of suttons and the flip flop, EC North has nothing like that (turn 1 is ho-hum once you work out how fast to take it, 2 is just slow, 10/11/12 is the only fun remaining)
  23. yes please, in particular oil pump and big end bearing condition. My guess is still on clearance problems causing pressure loss under load.
  24. VL had trouble with corners on a straight runway? it's hard to get more embarrassing than that
  25. Well the NSW State Champs are on at Eastern Creek this weekend - but the twist is that it is the first race meet on the new, "north" circuit. $9M of taxpayer funding later, the ARDC can now hire out the track in 2 halves. This weekend's state champs are on the short track but the same price as when the full track used to be used. The quickest cars are doing the lap in about 1min which is around 2/3 the length of the old track, it has also removed turns 4,5,6,7,8 and changed 9 to a kink. Results are here: http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?23/10/2011.ECNT from me.....did anyne race there today, and what did they think?
