  1. SAU NSW are running a beginner's track day at Wakefield Park on 18 June. Its a great chance to get out there with an instructor in the passenger seat (very unusual with current insurance rules) and a great way to learn. Wakefield Park runs under AASA not CAMS (generally) which is about half the price of CAMS. Once you have done a day or 2 most people move on to super sprints which require a CAMS L2S. Given Eastern Creek is the only track in sydney you will need the CAMS license sooner or later.
  2. medalist tools of course! no point buying trade quality general tools unless you are on the tools all day. the prices of basic stuff from the top brands are crazy. but do spend money on the torque wrench....warren and brown for me, much better than the light spring style wrenches that most brands use. I mentioned elsewhere....go heavy duty stand not light, these motors are long, and heavy, and move around a terrifying amount even on a good stand. other than that not a lot of specialist tools required for a one off build. piston ring compressor to get them into the block. ring expander to get them onto the piston. and lots of scotch brite pads and pipe cleaners and rags to clean everything
  3. sounds like sandown is going the way of oran park within 5 years....must drop by before then. good luck Neil, Mark, and anyone else running this weekend

    Hello

funnily enough.......we were just talking about you! over there somewhere...
  5. unplugging the ignitor will stop it dead and is hard to spot. but seriously....immobiliser....pref with GSM tracking/paging. all my cars get that since the famous "missin nissan"
  6. why don't you call the guys you bought the pieces of shit of and talk to them before slagging them off. Have you tried any other coils? Do you know coils are even you problem? They obviously are not the fix to every single missfire problem
  7. ok that's twice now. what I really want to know is how exactly did you come across them
  8. owned by state govt and built on landfill/tip. that would help!
  9. not if you sent it on 18/3....I got a blank fax that day I haven't got something from you back to the start of March, should I check earlier? 02 8915 1645
  10. god I hope you drive better than you post! We haven't posted up the track day but don't let that stop you booking the date in....its perfect for first timers
  11. bubba you are distracting me again... anyway....I've dropped a motor off a 1 leg stand too....cracked the harmonic balancer and bent the crank
  12. bonkers!
  13. I'd be very surprised if they are correct about Re55 being not being legal for street use. They have been around for about 5 years and used extensively on the road by track people in that time. Also, CAMS define non slick tyres like "semi slicks" as being "DOT approved", and re55s are on that list.
  14. yeah I've just put S2 leather /lectric seats in mine. and tv/dvd/screen/cruise control/gps/car kit, thats about it internally
  15. top place for a track, and there would probably be no neighbours for miles due to possible subsidence too
  16. sure....but as Duncan said "Racing is life, anything before or after is money and bleeding knuckles trying to get it working again"
  17. yeah get one rated to more than just the basic this style: not this style: these motors are damn long and damn heavy. and make sure you've got good bolts with plenty of thread to connect the motor to the stand
  18. didn't know you had a s14???
  19. sorry guys link is back up now. I must be hosting too much pr0n because its full.
  20. good to hear it was simple. why was it not sitting right?
  21. I think its simple. If you have the money and are comitted you should definately go the seperate track car. If you don't have much to spend on track stuff (think $10k per year) take whatever car you have to the track. BUT DON'T MODIFY IT! or at least just do brakes and suspension....don't spend a cent on making more power....
  22. pretty sure its 17mm. the hex under the sensor not the pic
  23. simple question.....simple answer
  24. a manual gearstick and it often has an rb26 in the boot
  25. my particular plenum has quite long runners for greddy style....but I can't make any comment about response because I did the 3l block at the same time.... considered running no bov like me? it makes a very childish noise which makes me giggle
