  1. the full race licenses require observed driving tests and medicals, but L2S is intended as a beginner's license and does not include those requirements. It restricts the events you can enter until you obtain the higher licenses
  2. btw you are dead right about this....270-275 from the top 6l v8s on vp102. makes it all the funnier that i can keep up in a stright line with 40kw less
  3. yeah agreed - safety should be a priority and that was silly. also....if I tried that trick that Button just did I would be given a drive thru 100% certain. Rules are very clear that it is not legal to deliberatly buch the field at a restart

  5. That misleading at best. The CAMS rules clearly and unambiguously exclude active aero. And because this is in Schedule F it applies to all CAMS events from super sprints to super lap to super cars. LSX-438 did exactly the right thing by asking for advice from a member of the organising committee of the series he is competing in. However the advice was wrong as confirmed by the CAMS national technical officer. In my experience, because he asked for advice and received it, he will not be disadvantaged/disqualified from past rounds because he asked first. Anyone wanting independent confirmation of the rules on active aero should contact the CAMS national techincal officer [email protected] Of course if people buying these wings are doing so understanding they are only legal for AASA/Irace/Private days etc then that is fine. It is obviously an effective product as shown by Duncan and others elsewhere.

  7. one other thing.....no need to do it up so tight when it goes back in! They are a tapered fitting but still.... We do them up to a "reasonable" tightness and then use lock wire to make sure they are not going to come undone unexpectedly on the race car. We have never seen evidence that they are coming undone when they are only tight (as opposed to VFT which they all seem to be when we get them!)
  8. wow...this thread is still going strong.... but we are all still ignoring the fact they are banned from all cams events under schedule F as confirmed recently by the cams national technical officer. I've got no doubts that dynamic aero can make great difference, and I have no doubt that is why they were banned. as if no-one has thought about the idea since the 70s when F1 first ran this stuff. Sports sedans explore absolutely every angle of the rules and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on the development of each car, do you think they might have given this a go if they could?
  9. late....but same. I could not find aftermarket (ie reasonably priced) front outer ends. inner end is available and it is most likely to wear (big nylon bush) aftermarket rear tie rod ends are available, both inner and outer end

    hmm...about $85k for race rally import from japan for a 3 year old car. nissan aus are doing OK for themselves adding $100k for a new one. nothing like a monopoly for keeping prices up....and interesting to note that the prices went up when the yen rose , but did not go down when the yen fell and import duty reduced.
  11. all new blocks from nissan come with no engine number. the workshop is expected to stamp the old number with an "X" on the end on the new block. Or anything else you feel like really

  14. great to hear it came out OK! I think letting some wd40 soak in for a while helps too
  15. yeah these things can suck hard to undo if they have been in for a while. you need to get a long breaker bar onto it, but it is essential that you have it exactly 90o to the plug otherwise it will round off. If you need to use an extension to do that keep it as short as possible. you may then need a long extension to the breaker bar to get enough leverage....but if you are doing this on the ground/stands there is often not space. Sometimes on tough bolts you can heat them with a gas torch which helps loosen them, but not a good idea with a filler plug. but frankly....it might just be easiest to take it to a shop and get them to do it on the hoist, you can spend more breaking and fixing stuff than it would cost for someone with the right tools to undo it....

  20. seems really simple to me if that is the concern. Tuner takes a backup of the tune before the car leaves the shop (and they all do anyway of course). If a customer comes back claiming a "tune" problem, compare the current tune to the backup I agree it is unacceptable for a customer not to know their tune was locked. If they knew it was going to be locked beforehand and accepted that it is a lttiel different
  21. I have use them on a gtst in the past....rated them as an above average road tyre. but considering the proven results of the factory tyres compared to semi slick I would not even give them a second thought - expect them to be seconds a lap behind. lol at p1g changing to cop too.
  22. as you know....I put my money down for rb30 with r33 gtst head and front facing plenum. absolutety no regrets it is everything i hoped for and more in response. Give me a bell if you are in sydney - once you try it you will not consider anything but rb30. Lots of china bits so it came in cheap mine is no dyno queen, it is for low down torque, daily driving and towing the race car (2t+) depending on how serious you are about power of course...I am happy with 250 in a daily driver.....but lets face it, 400 is the new 250 btw I don't see theoretical benefits of one head over another being very relevent - any of them are fine for 300kw as proven time and time again in skylines. r33 rb25 is the cheapest and still did 250 easy (my requirement) so that is what i went.
