There are so many people on here running that this deserves it's own thread. Round 2 was run today, and the SAU class was won by Duncan(LSX-438). Full results are here: http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results....03/2010.ARDC.S1 Other entrants in SAU class from the very large 113 car field: 2 1 Duncan Forrest ARDC Nissan GTR 3800 4D 9 2 1:41.0871 0:10.6473 6 112 Stuart Inwood LDCC Nissan GTR R33 4366 SVD 18 11 1:43.0491 0:12.6093 12 41 Neil De Pau ARDC Radical 1298 5D 17 17 1:46.7807 0:16.3409 27 551 Mark Smith ARDC Nissan Silvia 1998T 4D 19 3 1:49.5123 0:19.0725 31 55 Brian Bugh NSWRRC Mazda R100 2616 4C 18 16 1:51.1492 0:20.7094 also special mention to these guys who *should* be on here: 46 310 Nicholas Larcos ARDC Nissan Skyline 2800 3C 19 7 1:53.9150 0:23.4752 67 114 Brock Heydon MINI CAR CLUB Nissan Skyline 1998T 2D 11 6 2:00.1461 0:29.7063 Brock probably thinks I am a wierd stalker for giving him the thumbs up at top ryde when I passed him on the way home. speaking to Duncan he was very happy with how the car was running. Stu had missfire troubles and was not having much luck going faster (sounds to me like time for new tyres). Neil had a prick of a day with motor problems but at least all of the gears were in there this time unlike Oran Park. Looked like Brian was coming to terms with the new car and going OK Sorry if I forgot anyone on here!

interesting, the rally guys that have tried aftermarket stuff have all ended up going back to standard suspension for predicability - you have to give the Nissan engineers credit for staying so far ahead. when you say standard alignment...what is that specifically (camber/toe/castor) or have you never had it aligned?

interesting question....sounds like a bloke that came to our last track day (idontownaskyline).....pm sent

haha I think duncan has come quite a way....including outright win in the NSW Supersprint champs 2009. Second outright in today's round too (behind a v8 radical lol) with a 1.41.08 which is super fast in a car with only light mods.

actually....I've tried all the top line brake fluids and got best results from the motul rbf600. the best thing about it is that it is about $30 a bottle from motor bike shops. I have used ap 600, caltex (dark horse!), motul rbf600, brembo whateveritwas, agip. motul 600 performed best.

Turbo Whine, Loud! Then Silence? Shitza!
Duncan replied to Vesza's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
if your tyres are not brand new the required complancing has not taken place (for that matter the car also has to be dead stock). I think if you suggest to the dealer that you know what you are talking about they will back down pretty quick - the new rules are very strict and they can loose their import rights if there is any suggestion that have done the wrong thing. ie, you have "hand". use it -
Rb25de (supercharged) Project
Duncan replied to r33_racer's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
good work, and keep up the updates. I remember some earlier pics of the machines in your "other" shed and you are damn lucky to have so much custom fab stuff available....I bet they are invaluable for this job. BTW very off topic...but are you racing the rb30 again this season? -
hmm I actually had to pull my plenum off the other day in the engine bay too....medalist tools make some wonderful ring/ring spanners in a C or S shape, they were perfect for undoing the bolts underneath the plenum from above....wonderful things.

run a thin line of silicone gasket maker (blue/grey or black stuff, same as you would use for the sump) under the half moons before you install them. the rest of the cam cover gaskets do not require sealant. they do require rubber bushes on each screw/bolt in good condition (replace them! or just use 3mm slices of fuel hose like we did in the race car). most important...do not over-tighten the cam cover bolts...they are meant to be 15-20nm only!!!

wtf are you doing in aussie without going to race tracks?

lol so is the computer you typed this on. do you have a particular concern with specific bits of their stock or do you just beleive nothing from china can work???

oil analysis? there was a thread in the last week where someone (elite I think) posted phone numbers for capital cities. if you don't want to pull the motor analysis is 100% the way to go....couple of days and you will know. too drunk to find it myself its a bacheloring weekend for me

green stuff work as well from cold as they do warm. I've bought 2 sets now....never again. the qfm stuff that gslrallysport can supply are excellent for the price.

oh yes...absolutely right....sevs requires brand new adr approved tyres too. you have the dealer over a barrel so just hit them hard on this one. -
Time Attack Setup For A Gtr
Duncan replied to Full-Race Geoff's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
interesting choice on the rear LCAs, i would have thought (and did) that changing to full custom was better. Nothing special about the stock arms and pretty easy to replace with chromoly tube. Did you keep the standard rear LCA ball joints, we found it difficult to match an aftermarket cone for the ball joint socket (no machine shop readily available to me) -
lol i'm sure it is within budget for them....but still....what an choice! I'd be straight back to the haltec if I were them, very much race proven in many cars. Or at least spend a little longer on a safe tune please tell me he is going to return it to legal spec before targa....I'd hate to see it excluded. unfortunately I'm not going to make lake mountain (was intending to) but I'd rather do FOSC at bathurst and I can't get organised for both....lake mountain next year.

better pics of the xfer case on the m35 auto? It looks like a very good match to the R32/33/34 4wd setup. does someone have a 32/33/34 intermediate shaft they can stick into an m35 xfer case? I tend to think the 32/33/34 box is the way to go, the interfaces are flywheel/clutch/input shaft (do-able), tailshaft (do-able) and intermediate shaft (do-able). I'd be surprised if the d22 navara stuff fits, they would have a very different front diff setup

I'd be very tempted not to accept the dealer's offer on this one. They (unlike a private seller) are required under fair trading act to make sure the "goods are fit for the purpose they are sold for". the insurance style warranty they included for $500 will not come close to covering the cost of repair (I guess around $2k). The only option I would accept from the dealer is a replacement turbo, all at their cost. No way can they justify 2 days as being acceptable -
excellent idea....stolen for future use too btw jjskyline79, STATUS has previously posted back to back dyno comparisons showing AVCR controlling boost poorly compared to other options...try a search on here

Falken Fk452 - Experiences In Particular?
Duncan replied to nuffsaid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
lol thanks mate. anyway...I still rate falken 452 as some of the best tyres around....however any NSW club member would be mad to go past federal 595SS at the price we get them thru the club. Not as good as the falkens but close, and half the price. or you could pay 500 a corner for something similar from dunlop/bridgestone/goodyear etc. BTW don't judge a tyre range on one tyre model. All of the large manufacturers have a range of tyre models at different price points....don't judge a tyre brand by it's crappy cheapy tyre. -
