  1. aint that the truth....I am willing to bet that the super taxis take over 95% of motorsport sponsorship $$ in Aus to a single category with 32 drivers. I reckon their time is over and its downhill for them these days.
  2. lol me? mine is forward facing plenum is that what you mean? in any case its back at the mechanic for its full boost tune now the run in is done. but it goes through the battery tray pretty close to the chasis rail in my case (need to move the washer bottle underneath). i guess it also depends on cooler width and the kit's piping?
  3. Interesting.....it is described in the article as: "It is understood Mr Scipione had just pulled up at a stop sign on Belmore Rd and turned right across the path of the couple's car." Now I may be out of date, but I thought police are called at any accident where there is estimated over $500 damage, or a personal injury. And that in each case at least one of the drivers would be charged with neg driving. This has certainly been the case in 2 accidents where I was charged with Neg Driving (imagine trying to disprove *that* charge in court when it is not defined anywhere on the NSW police or rta websites.
  4. No it didn't so I'm glad you asked!!!! the shifter goes to the transfer case, it takes auto trans fluid, and only about 1l. to refill the gearbox you need to use the filler on the side, underneath the car. I understand the 34 gtr box does not take regular gear oil either so check that out first.....
  5. lol. I bet "speed was a factor" like in 99% of other times they trot that rubbish out. I'd like to see an accident where speed was not a factor....ie 2 stationary cars colliding
  6. also she wasn't wearing a balaclava. I'm beginning to wonder if the whole clip was just made up
  7. stu you are showing a very strong v8 bias...do you like them or something??
  8. nice....will this be finished for the supersprint nationals in November? and are we all staying on your couch, I heard a rumour you are very close by
  9. nice on cochrane....watch out perth you will have your own taxpayers 500 soon enough. Neil...its only OK if the track can afford to stay open...
  10. I've been running the JJR one for years too without problem (except i lost the double locking pin...but still no chance of it falling off). I also run a flat wheel to make up for the extra column length and don't mind a steering wheel closer
  11. great driving the other day, and I'm surprised how much sideways action the computers let you get away with in the wet.....you had some pretty big angles going and the car wasn't calling "game over" good to see another r35 being treated the way they should be
  12. oh f**k that is funny! I love the chequered flag waving while standing on the main straight....even better the pit board while standing on the straight. wtf was the point?!? btw shell haven't you been watching richard "hollywood" fricker? he won the nsw state champs in a radical last year.
  13. very interesting project....more pics and details would be interesting considering the work that must hasve gone into it. I don't see how much information on roll centres can help when it is such a different chasis....but here goes. In our 32 gtr (and in other 32gtr/z32s being raced is aus), the rear roll centres are easy to work with. We simply modified the subframe to have higher mounts for the upper control arms (3 points, each about 2cm apart), same with the lower rear mount. the lower front mount on the r32 was not great, and nissan adjusted in on r33/r34 by changing the angle/moving it up. we made the same change to the rear subframe. then removed hicas and used rose jointed links to the hub instead. also we solid mounted the subframe to the floor which lowered the car another 15mm (the 32 gtr bush sticks up a fair way and there is a large washer) the front is much harder. we have been racing a 32 gtr production car for years and the main lesson has been that the front geometery witht he factory arms is shit house. we are lucky if adjustable upper arm bushes last half a season, and the max castor we can get is 4.50 without rubbing on stuff (i guess the s14 chassis is different). basically the castor just pulls the upper arm at an angle and it is only designed to move in 1 plane. as for suggestions at the front.....contact John at Unique Autosports here in sydney. He has done a heap of work on the upper arms and has come up with a good design to deal with the castor challenges. Also he has 20mm ball joint spacers which we are running to help lower the front roll centre (not as good as the rear unless you also move the upper arm points as you affect the geometry). Fulcrum suspension here in sydney also offer 15mm longer bll joints as another option. Obviously all bump steer will require measurement and adjustment after. Having said all that - given the amount of work you have done I'm surprised you did not do a custom double wishbone suspension at the front, that is what the most serious cars have done here. I think you should consider the idea before stuffing too much with the standard r32 setup.
  14. pfft it's not a moment unless your tyres get dirty. and for my 2c...x3 1/ cutting corners on a tarmac rally is bullshit. it is bad for the competitor's car, bad for the competitors that follow the cheat, and bad for tarmac rallies as a whole because of the damage it does to the road 2/ the price for fuel is outrageous, and so is single approved fuel suppliers. $4/l for e85 from the event provider, or .99c at my local united. It's not up to the organisers to protect the competitors from poor quality or inconsistent fuel, that is the competitor's responsibility. ANDRA used exactly the same excuse to ban e85 until recently when the VP fuels distributor resigned as fuel checker. I'm sure there are no conflicts of interest anywhere. Not just that....at Mt Buller I had to pay $30 to leave my jerry cans under the "official" fuel tent. 3/ finally....the different regs between aasa and cams, and the extreme freedoms allowed under aasa will kill rallies if they not kept in check. I know reallies are going through growth atm, but that will dissappear in a year or 2 when competitors see what other people are getting away with. There has been way too much open talk about cheating lately but tony quinn is about the only high profile name that the organisers have actually hit. Adherance to technical regs at Mt Buller was a joke. And continually changing and upgrading cars is very expensive, not to mention that nothing will kill tarmac rallies quicker than big accidents from super quick cars. We all know it is only a matter of time, all of the top 5-10 cars in any tarmac rally these days are running harder than the 80-90% that most people consider safe, as proven by their crash out rate. very negative....but I love this sport and want to see it around in 20 years, let alone 10.
  15. you're sure its the right afm right? anyway....the stagea ecus have a really narrow band of tolerance to mods, and when you are off that they pull heaps of timing and richen up like crazy. first time I hit it I honestly thought I had blown a cooler pipe off it was so bad. ubfortunately there is no easy way to swap an aftermarket ecu in there to check though, there were differences between r34 and stagea pin outs so you would need to find one pre-modified to the same ecu model that you have.
  16. pfft that car is a pushover, a stock gtr beat it at the last race meet at oran park according to natsoft 696 Greg Boyle Autosport Silvia 2600 JAP 6 1:19.5520 132 Duncan Handley (NSW) Medalist Tools/Hills Motorspor Nissan Skyline R32 2568 JAP 6 1:19.4568* *=fastest lap time
  17. hahah well done! I lost one from my navara about 50,000klm ago (same shifter setup), and Mark lost the one in his gtr race gearbox 4 years ago now. Absolutely no issue with it getting jammed anywhere in either case. also....the bush is from r31 skyline/d21 navara and probably a bunch of other cars. It is about $5 from nissan. get yourself a new one if the old one was worn enough to come off!
  18. don't worry, you won't get 100% laps in on green tyres. the first 2 laps are rubbish, they must have some coating on them. the best results I have heard of from new tyres is: 1 warm up lap 3 super quick laps (they are at their best now) put up with the result for the next 3-5 meets or if you want them to last: 1 warm up session (70%) leave them under the house for a month (cool, dark) enjoy the 10% better performance for 3-5 meets. yes you may have constraints that don't let you take option 2 like all timed sessions, or no spare rims....so many people choose option 1
  19. actually if you've done more than say 50k since the noise started it probably is not a bearing afterall (ie most likely it would be totally f**ked by now). either way.....the good news is rb20s are cheap to replace. Couple of hundred for the motor and a couple of hundred to R&R
  20. OK you probably don't want to hear this, but what you have described sounds exactly like a spun big end bearing . how is your oil pressure? I would get a good mechanic to have a listen before going much further. Big end sounds are quick rythmic knocking which get louder when you rev due to the extra force on the bearing.
  21. you can say that again! bloody funny.....well done!
  22. Personally I would only ever take full face. open face might be legal but is no-where near as safe and some places may require full face.
  23. lol I've practiced pushing plenty of broken cars, and the sound effects are a key part of the technique
  24. more likely to be a heater hose issue, but a welsh plug is possible. the leak drips onto the bellhousing then down underneath
  25. anyway....I didn't catch him today by phone either, but will direct him here when I catch him
