  1. just enter superlap for EC laps. not really great value or heaps of track time but it is a hard place to get an event. wakie on the other hand you can wear the bloody car out on an average open practice day. cams is easy as, sau qld is cams affiliated so its about $90 and 1 form.

  3. great to hear mate, let us know target dates and I'll try and get out too, will help organise specific events if necessary. Oran park is closing 24 Jan so if you dont get here before then you can cry like a gold coast schoolie Eastern Creek can be tricky to find time at, given you are coming from interstate you would probably be ok to sneak along to a supersprint of some sort. probably need cams l2s Wakefield Park in goulburn is dead easy and cheap. they run free practice days 2-3 times a week minimum. no license and very cheap, lots of track time. there are a couple of hillclimb circuits around but they are not open most weekends.
  4. wierd that it has never been posted in this thread considering how many people have spoken to them! In any case there is this amazing website called whitepages.com.au Towbars of Woden (02) 6288 5199 136 Namatjira Drv Chapman ACT 2611
  5. ahh i wish mate. 1. no restrictors, i remember the bsm guys saying the production car made more top end than the ipra car. which i reckon counts for plenty at PI. 2. i was running dunlop dz03 not yoko a048. that has to be worth a minimum of 1 sec alone. but i was still stoked about the time, I went quicker than I expected to and no doubt there is another 1/2 sec in it with a heap more lap's worth of practice
  6. wouldn't worry too much, its probably just whoever would back the klm before selling it broke something at the same time.
  7. yeah I think Neil's biggest challenge once the wheels were changed was the same as mine the week before - its just a hard track to get the hang of in a couple of laps. I had the big advantage of racing there the weekend before and having had a week to think about all my mistakes lol. there's no mistake the track rewards comittment but I needed heaps of laps to get any idea of what speed I could carry, where.
  8. depends if you consider 8 seconds off the pace to be good. r35 did 1.56 http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results..../2009.PHIL.S9.Y mitsu gto went quicker than the r35
  9. max. try a search for "towbar" in this forum, theres a 7 page thread
  10. thanks guys I'm really happy about how it went, especially after the troubles I had last weekend. huge congrats to Stu in coming 1st in modified too, he had to fight all weekend right until the last session to win the class, and I can tell you he had absolutely nothing left in that car. The GTR that came 2nd was extremely well prepared and the driver had done some laps around there prior, so for Stu to win there on his first time down there is a great effort. actually it was a great weekend for dattos all around, there was a top turnout and results from most of the guys (and only 1 with real problems, borken motor after pulling 2nd in turn 1 at 160+). And also great work from Scott in the minetti to be only 1 second off the outright win against a full on F3 car. thanks to everyone that helped me out this weekend and last - kel, neil, tektrader69, letmedrive and dad and all the sau vic guys that dropped by
  11. haha good work guys....shame mark is such a pussy behind the wheel otherwise you might have got a good result. don't worry about the super taxis with an extra 20 years of development...what was the group A GTR's best time around there? that car had the best of everything - preparation, development, and the 2 best drivers going around back then.
  12. ahh no timing sucks for me. we are towing the car back from vic that monday (assuming it survives buller) and then running show n shine the day after. no way do i have a chance to go racing that day which is a damn shame
  13. v motors won nothing on the weekend. every class was won by an rb26, or a straight 4
  14. interesting way to put it. you aren't covering the event because the not for profit club running the event won't give you a free trader stall and free access to content for you to sell on your dvds. A number of businesses have been very enthusiastic and supportive of the show and the club overall, and this will be by far the biggest import event in sydney this year. Its been brilliant to see the number of entrants and businesses interested in the show, so businesses without attitudes like yours are better not being there at all.
  15. hahaha play nice you too. and lets not forget that lofty and bozman ran the same car in the same team in the same class for at least 2 seasons. of course not both cars were prepared to the same level (no 2 cars ever are, just ask barrichello)
  16. omg i spotted 3 white stageas. firday night on the big road that goes from the airport to phillip island, a white one WGNC34 and then 2 white stagea tow cars at the track over the weekend. good work guys
  17. hahah good find! probably older than the car its going in to!
  18. good to meet you guys on the weekend too.... looking forward to a better run this time!
  19. not cursed, that was my fault.....I know when I launch it too high the clutch slips (done it once before). It was running way hot in 20 min races but it will be fine for the super sprints this weekend even though the weather looks hotter, it was fine for the first couple of laps.
  20. yeah everyone was on semis, although some cars got new ones for each of the 3 races. as usual budget talks. I was on dunlop dz03 for the first time too, and they are excellent, at least as good as re55s. I don't think top line current semis give away anything significant to same sized slicks. one thing I saw once again....modern full weight cars put too much strain on semis and they simply fail. I saw stuffed dunlops, bridgestone, toyo and kumho tyres this weekend, none of them are up to the job of carrying heavy cars safely I can't really call my car quick, turn 3 and the right hander into the hayshed were still both flat (although in 5th this time). I found the next turn left after hayshed and lukey heights very tricky but the rest pretty straight forward. Best time was 1.53 and best potential lap based on 3x best sectors was 1.51. No doubt I was a couple of seconds off what the car was capable of, I really need time to learn tracks and lots of laps to go fast. Not like Pete who can set his fastest lap on the first lap, then gets slower every lap after I only had about 10 clean laps so hopefully will do a fair bit better next weekend. My guess is the car is good for a 1.49-1.48, about the same as eastern creek. But I've never met a race track I don't like, PI is no exception. It definately has challenges, in particular judging the speed in the quick corners. I am sure I could carry 10 or maybe even 20 klm/h faster in turn 1 and 12 but I just didn't get the time to get the comfort with them, and if you run wide on the exit of either you are in the shit. Les walkden wrote off his spec c wrx on the straight and went to hospital with a sore neck, so you can't under-estimate how much it will hurt if you mis-judge it. snowcone did you work out your cooling problems? did the pwr setup help? or did the right one never arrive? I know mark's r34 runs the best water cooling he can get but still runs too hot too
  21. Phillip Island with the targa cars. I stuffed the clutch on the start and did the rest of the race without it. speaking of over temp...I had to retire from all 3 races, water temp over120o
  22. not even close to the right section, but welcome anyway!
  23. hahah I do know now! But no I didn't realise until I started looking at the cars beside me in the garages lol. Lawson's car is also amazing, standard capacity sr20, 1.46 around there. And the poor bastards changed a head overnight, then broke a diff about 2 laps later. I thought I was having top speed challenges but they were over 7500 in 5th with a 4.1 diff, I was only about 6000.
  24. quick? it was outrageous. 1.45.1 which according to the circuit times thread is almost a second quicker than Aaronr34's time which is the quickest on here. This was the first lap of race 3. I got a good start but fried the clutch (not that I noticed until 3rd gear). Even so I was up from 24 to 14th before I gave up on the clutch and let the guys through...then limped around the rest of the race without the clutch (more practice needed, I can do it fine when I don't need to but I struggled this race) BTW evos suck at getting off the line
  25. hey you don't have to believe me....but you have to admit it is possible that real life experience can be more correct than the internet sometimes....
