32gtr Upper Control Arms
Duncan replied to NISMO's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
you probably don't want to know, especially if you include install cost....will be worth it though the improvement is amazing -
yeah I meant one with good seals. I am not sure but you can probably buy an aftermarket local replacement cylinder from PBR or similar - a master cylinder is a pretty simple thing. And indeed I can recommend a brakeshop - talk to race brakes in wetherill park. they helped sort out my issues and really know their shit. Not cheap but sometimes you have to pay for experience, and its worth it for a good brake pedal. BTW I've never bled my ABS even when changing brake lines

yeah good point, always use a new spigot bush, the damn things cost about $2 and are dead easy to do when the clutch is out. While we were at it....dump a short shifter if you have one too. They do not help you change gears quicker and will wear the synchros more as they are more likely to baulk. Paul's obviously just been through the same thing with his dog box but the same holds for a synchro box. Finally...shifting technique. you can move the shifter quickly to the centre of the gate but once there you need to allow time for the synchros to work. If you are down shifting give the throttle a quick blip on the way down to help the synchros. Unless its a dog box in which case bang it straight across firmly and quickly.

Greg you were pretty clear just after targa that you thought none of the top cars were cheating (back in this thread somewhere). Do you think the Quinns were a one off or a sign of a more broad issue?
-
don't weigh it....it is always depressingly little. dry ice does so much better though than the old fashioned heat gun and scraper
-
ok i added mine even though i haven't seen it in ages. i picked c34 although its really a 300rs
-
nah they're just all getting old at the same time....i put a new gearbox in the race car and even at full bore changes it doesn't crunch. these poor old boxes just have 20 years of abuse on them by now

Australian Supersprint Championship
Duncan replied to djr81's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
pretty sure Neil and John are heading down from sydney....and I guess Mark will be bringing the r34 down frmo brissie too -
hahah spot on. its hard to think while everything is going on! skidpans really show up understeeritis. You were killing it by afternoon but I saw some hge slides from the clubby on the tight track in the morning.

Mike is right! you need a harmonic balancer puller to get it off. prying is a very bad idea and I hope you didn't try too hard. basically the balancer is a very tight fit on the crank and if you pry from one side it the balancer does not come off straight which makes it even tighter. if it looks uneven on the crank you are best to tap in back on with a rubber mallet. see the 2 threaded holes on the front? you need to get 2 long bolts with that thread, a harmonic balancer puller and put the crank bolt back it (not tight but the head of the bolt needs to be inside the balancer again). slowly turn the bolt on the puller and it will slide off. be very careful to screw the small bolts right in because the thread is pretty small for the force those bolts will have.

Big Brake Kit For R32 Gtr
Duncan replied to SRB's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
570awkw. so around 1000hp right? what does the car weigh? Presumably 30% more power and 30% more weight than a supercar. You have at least 100wkw more than anyone I know racing these cars including the sports sedans. None of the stuff you listed is likely to do the job for track use if you can push the car hard. Expect to run 18s with 370-380mm curved vane rotors, and big 8 piston calipers like cup car brakes with top line pads. $10k+ specialist setup required here. So, given that, and that you want to do drags and circuit you are going to have to swap brakes and wheels between events, or have some sort of compromise. And I personally hate compromising on brakes. I'm running the G4/D2/Ksport calipers that Stu mentioned on my race car and they are excellent. But I'm making half the power you are. Re wheel fitment - there are some 356 size rotors that will fit under some 17" rims, we have done this on the new race car with a couple of mm clearance to spare under weds 17" wheels. If you do really want to fit the biggest ones you can check out heaps of different wheels, they have amazingly different inner clearances between different brands and models. -
lol i figured something was amiss in the timing...eg no penalties or wrong directions from the tricky morning track. but at this level its more about fun than competition. especially if I don't win.
-
this pic? sorry about the stuff in the way this car left the road pretty slowly too but managed 6 or 7 rolls down the hill. basic cage shape remained intact
-
I saw this doing skids on the weekend. looked like more fun in the slalom than in the tight morning stuff
-
yeah I have seen a lot of people having complaints about this....but the answer is......not at all. I run the ABS in the race car and they pedal feel is perfect. I do have braided lines and good master cylinder and brake piston seals. And use good fluid and bleed it properly. It can be done and feels fine...yes not as direct as a non-abs system but not bad enough to make it worth removing all that gear
-
ahh yeah sorry I had it all backwards. no-one wants that ecu and its worth about half what they are asking....
-
sorry very slow response. anyway checking the continuity of a wire makes sure there is no break hidden in the loom somewhere. these senders work by increasing resistance to earth as they get hotter. if earth is bad they will give wrong reading (too low) which is the most common. If not that, problem in the wiring between gauge and sender. If not that bad power or earth to the gauge. Inany case an auto sparky should be able to sort it.
-
seriously though its for the sports sedan. I have to run a factory block but I am not stuck to factory capacity btw how is your car going....you need to bring it up to our show and shine...we need a great collection of 32 race cars
-
not according to Klark Quinn
-
who trent? I need to fit a 30 crank in a 26 block
-
cool. you got skids for your birthday

Gear Leaver Hitting Handbrake?
Duncan replied to hyp-20l's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
nope the shifter shouldn't even get close. either stuffed gearbox bushes (there is a big mount between the gearbox and the cross member, and 4 smaller bushes where the crossmember bolts to the chasis or the gearstick is very bent, or in backwards. -
yeah putty rd cruise is coming up soon
