  1. bobby I ran the nismo bushes for years because that's all I was allowed to run. If you want to stay stockish (and I'm glad you do) they are a very good option. I now run the whiteline adjustable bushes and they give me extra camber. But they flog out very quickly with race use (3-4 races only), probably OK for street
  2. as for driving a 300kw car, unfortunately 400 is the new 200, and like arseholes everyone has one now. the fact is 300kw is damn fast and there are very very few times you can use more than 300kw. as for getting it built for $5k as trent said it is possible, and it's not necessarily impossible. But you will need to do stuff the cheap way....which I'm always happy to do:D
  3. bad news, you have the same bastard child stagea ECU that I had. the lovely people at nissan jp created an ecu and wiring loom for only a single month of production which was different to every other one. what do you need to do? no other ecu will work unless you modify it to suit...i've been through all this including a burnt out PFC (injector driver issues)
  4. umm yep good point. I thought there was a message but I can't see it now....will organise for one to be put up....about 50% of the valid new posts in there get posted more than once
  5. nope, thats no good at all. When you say the snaped stud was much tighter, that is normally the sign of a cross threaded stud. whoever put it in didn't put it in straight but forced it in anyway, so when you go to take it out again it is very easy to break the stud. so.....are you due to replace the timing belt and water pump? If so the replace the water pump it will come with new (healthy) studs. If not you need to get the broken stud out and replace it (just take it to a local bolt shop, they will be able to match and replace it). If the stud has enough thread sticking out to put 2 nuts on your are in luck. screw one nut down as far as you can (not too tight), then put another nut on top of it and screw it down. Make sure both nuts have enough stud left that it sticks out or give up on this method. If it does, grab 2 spanners and tighten the 2 nuts against each other - when they are both tight you can put a spanner on the bottom nut, turn it anti clockwise and the whole stud will come out (eventually). Do it very slowly and smoothly to make sure you don't break the stud again. If you do not have enough thread to put 2 nuts on it (and I assume you don't have a stud remover!) you need to drill the stud out and remove it using an "easy out". Here is where I call a stud remover guy...because 9 out of 10 times you can do it, but 1 time out of 10 it will end up totally f**ked and unfixable....get a professional instead (only about $100 to get a mobile guy to come and remove it). An easy out is an opposite thread bit that bites in and helps you screw the stud out - but it is made of super hard metal, and if it does break (and it can) you will never drill it out again.
  6. lol. for entrants that did not compete a given track you get the worst time + 3 seconds.....so Chris you came equal 39th
  7. OK this is summarising the results the best I can...I think there might be some timing errors in here because, for example, Mat Bentley who didn't make it beat Paul Lewis Anyway we can work on that for next time... 8. we moderate all new topics in here so it takes us a while to get to them sometimes. I've approved one of your ones now
  9. yeah same but hopefully youtube is still processing....
  10. lol it was a hell of a day to be a rev limiter
  11. yeah your was going great Dave but fark it seems to breathe a bit! hope everything is ok with it. stu you really should have been there. it was great to see so many new faces out there today, khanas are a great way to get into motorsport, not to mention fun to thrash the cars. Steve and Steveo are compiling the results but i enjoyed the slow skid laps more than the quick tidy ones
  12. w00t british touring cars following by DTM.....
  13. +2 for cam gears slipping.....adjust screws not tight enough
  14. I hope you find someone with stock.....because ACL went broke today http://www.smh.com.au/small-business/car-i...90826-eyq1.html
  15. well there is a can of worms! which car? i run the ABS on my 32 gtr, mostly because it is rubbish and lets a lot of lock up before it actually gets around to kicking in. But ultimately it can save a set of tyres if I have a big f**k up, or some unexpected problem. Modern 4 channel ABS is amazing, and can of course do things a driver with only 1 brake pedal would dream of. Many of them are too sensitive for track use though. I am pretty sure that ever since Stu McColl's accident ABS has been optional in all classes due to the safety question mark.
  16. indeed there should be huge washers at the end of the bolts, protecting the bushes. whoops
  17. In any case we all need a practice day down there before hand....need to work on logistics, car changes, strategy etc.
  18. don't know about the first but the second does not look stock
  19. I used the proengines adapter too. fitted first time, no issues. He is in queanbeyan (near ACT) but i'm sure will ship to you
  20. this is how I launch the race car, but only 5500 to 6000. Personally the need to protect the clutch is more important that a tiny bit off the line because it still has to last a whole race. Its a little under full boost on my turbs because its not fully loading it, but it is realiable way to launch. Loading the driveline up by letting the clutch slip a little for about a second before launching is important to make sure nothing breaks. Ask Ben (Brad's current car) what happens when you take all the tough talker's advice and just dump it at 8000.
  21. I think its really unlikely there is a problem with a coolant temp sensor, they are a very simple thing. Is it well grounded? Any sign of trouble with the wiring (check continuity to both ends of the wire). Much more likely the new gauge is wrong (probably not well earthed) than the standard one being wrong. And the new sender is in the return hose to the radiator, not the one from the radiator right>
  22. i know its simple....but did you check for a blown fuse?
  23. even better......stagea driveline into a r31 wagon
  24. Don't worry about the 10s stu, your car will be good for an 8 or 7 once it is sorted and yuo get some seat time. Why not enter this? Your car is very well prepped and should be fine to last the distance. All you'd really need is a practice day down there beforehand to get the hang of the place. Their open days are cheap, and you'd get plenty of laps
  25. all right you too....not much point having two of the very few people racing skylines arguing over very little, the world would be a better place if we could work together to get other people to the track not taking shots at each other. Brad, Stuart has been running NSW hillclimb and supersprint champs for years with great results. And won the Irace meet we are talking about in this thread. Stuart, Brad has been tracking a couple of sports sedans gtrs for years, and recently been racing and winning the MRA races run under AASA. And works at one of the few import specialist workshops. So can we just leave it at that?
