Best Car For Personal Import
rotarytt replied to CT9W's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
not sure of your purpose. I'd seriously look into a challenger. think you said like 15k so a slighyly used 2011' v6 mustang just to CRUISE around in. hopefully get slips to keep it rhd. japanese cars are better to mod but i assume you already have a skyline. -
ok so theres a 5 kilometer diffence between the wheels. it locks with this 5 kilometer differnce. forcing the faster wheel to travel the same speed as the slower one. how long does it take until the wheels are free again. do they ever unlock mid corner while accelerating. feathering the thottle? does it take a whole revolution of a wheel to unlock or something
-
I'm trying to understand them better. thinking of a 2 way adjustable one. when they lock do they lock tires at the same speed for example one wheel is going 60 the other 55 when locked and accelerating. your wheels are spinning at 70 and 65? does it try to constantly make them spin at equal speeds? my other theory is it can make the inside wheel spin even faster than the outside wheel depending on what you set it at the initial torque... while braking does it unlock while the wheels are spinning at equal speed until a certain ratio is broken. also just theoretically if entering a large roundabout and doing completing a 180 degree turn so your going the way you came from. how many times would you expect it too lock and unlock. just feathering the throttle but cornering hard enough to break traction. second example. enter this corner full acceleration braking hard then back on the throttle hard then using abrupt throttle input is it going to be unlocking and locking constantly more or less locking and unlock compared to the earlier example? finally you enter this round about at regular speed how much differently would it react to a open diff basically not touching any pedals just coasting through it. why is it that people find these so hard to manage. i hope this makes enough sense. also is there a car that ever came with one from the factory. if not why?

theres 2 ganador threads atm. i was supposed to post here. the slant upwards are m3 copies.

interestingit pays too google. i figured from the name and fenders/side profile it was.

don't think it's been posted and I'm pretty sure it is..... http://www.veilsidejpn.com/4509/4509gtr.html

edit posted in the wrong thread there's two about ganadors atm. I think they work great offer a little weight saving. there's an angle in the mirror so you can see the gutter easily. there supposed to repel water mine don't though. attach a wide angle mirror to the rear view and you won't have any blind spots. if you add carbon and indicators and they start getting pricey. the op posted slr replica's I can't think of a car they would look okay on. maybe a 70's roadster. http://ssv.com.au/door_mirrors universal mirrors would look better if they fit. and you don't mind manual operation

it's just for a carbon hood. yeah i think it was in braeside what's their name? in the future it will be custom headlights tail lights then power mods. I'll know their website when i see it I had called them before. the guys were reasonable over the phone. I had previously called many vass engineers and all of them wouldn't even contemplate the idea. these guys were willing if i meet their requirements.
-
it was mentioned here before but I'm unable to find it searching. they were near frankston and really cheap to use. not those decv or whatever they call themselves useless guys. doesn't have to be this particular one any other suggestions for engineering work? that aren't excessively strict.
-
I'v decided to do this to a side project. how do you join 2 peices properly? some area's have taken a long time and many re-tries such as mirrors. I'v stopped caring about little creases and once completely covered will redo them maybe. my thumbs hurt.. what do you guys charge per hour to do it professionally, I'm not in brisbane though just curious.

probably photoshoped definitely my style

well i use the trapster poi on a tom tom running on a htc diamond. it won't tell you about mobile police and mobile camera's but has the most up to date poi list. on that phone i used trapster app and in 2 hours it amounted to about $350 usage. tested it on my iphone4 which has a 500mb plan used about 70%. I'm suprised everyone elses is using such little data whilst roaming. there's clearly something going on with that app and my phones which is out of the ordinary. not 100% certain but i remember some form of review for a bentley continental gt. I think they come with radar detectors. so basically what can the cops do there as its factory fitted.
-
trapster is great for tom tom updates. or too perhaps check the route your taking. I wouldn't drive around with it turned on. unless you have an optus unlimited data plan. next time your bill comes in you will be in for a shock. so are lidar lasers still in use? unless you are constantly driving over 140 or always have a spare few thousand readily available its not worth your while. the bad part about it is people with them keep trying to reach new top speeds. I just know I'd be addicted to it..

how long will a stock rb25 last. I have seen many ring lands failure's on cars that don't have many k's. how's the oil sump and pump compare to a 33 gtst. whats good results for a compression test and at what point should i not bother. most k's clocked on a stock engine? I will be keeping the car standard. if i need to replace the engine must i use a 4wd rb25. what are they worth both reconditioned and second hand. whats the worst fuel consumption i could get driving it hard. average driving seems to be around 13 litres around town. I"v searched and read but want things clarified.

http://www.delonixradar.com.au/ scroll down to the map and find your state. far to much for me to be reading rite now. but I have somewhere seen radar detectors which claim to be legal in victoria as they provide another function such as reverse parking. I'v wanted to try laser veil. although I'm not sure of it's legality as it tints headlights. it blocks the reading at a distance til you get close giving you time to slow down if you spot them. I like laser jammers unsure of how legal they are. one with an alarm, as soon as you slow down turn it off. and always drive with my tomtom with the latest trapsters poi. seems to give some false reading perhaps it's just that fixed cameras lately have been taking on different shapes to be more discreet and can't even be spotted a lot of the time.
-
your not giving your car enough gas around town and keeping under the speed limit too often. my theory is either people call in with your plates or off duty police see the way some of these people drive then get them at a later date. unless it's suspected of being far from standard or a defective vehicle whats the point. It's not what you drive it's how you drive it.

I'd get a 300zx you will learn more from it it will probably be in an unrepairable crash. I have a great suggestion best find out where it was purchased from before mentioning. simlpy because i cant believe the price. remember your p-plate days thinking your invincible til something actually goes wrong. also i don't think racing at a track makes you drive any more docile on the street. you would be saving money by having a track dedicated car by taking someone else's work. http://my105.com/classified.asp?id=15217

In a car i have it's vdc a maxima. i assume your instruction manual is in japanese. vehicle stability dynamics. in the manual it states that it pushes the rear suspension down whilst cornering to provide more grip. also controls traction control. to me when i press it the car feels totally different. i actually like it off on twisting roads feels more raw. i can still get tire smoke with it switched on sometimes. also on models such as 350z you can not turn it off 100% will cut power to the tires. but does take some time to realise how worn tires are etc. it doesn't apply brakes as far as i can tell. you would definitely be saving petrol with it on. basically it will change the angle at which you will take corners if in any kind of drift and will try and straighten you out. the car will be faster with it switched off. in my opinion anyway. just more likely too loop.

Why Aren't We All Swapping To Superchargers?
rotarytt replied to No Crust Racing's topic in General Automotive Discussion
also a supercharger can only spin at 1/3 the speed a turbo can. they should be rebuilt every 100k whether damaged or not. cost more, yet less complicated too install. if there's room. can drain upto 20% of the engines overall power to run. yet add around 30-75% say 50% for most. http://www.ehow.com/facts_5752326_turbo-vs...onsumption.html I honestly don't like the whine of large ones often hear it over a noisy v8. roots last longer yet aren't as efficient as a twin screw. centrifugal is great on a standard car if you want low boost. for some reason i want to put one on a n/a 4 cylinder. -
Why Aren't We All Swapping To Superchargers?
rotarytt replied to No Crust Racing's topic in General Automotive Discussion
you can't make the same power. theres a point where the supercharger has peaked the turbo will keep going. they won't fit in a lot of engine bays. Twin charging is awesome if you can be bothered tuning with many hiccups. the only advantage is in an engine such as an ls1. where turbo chargers melt the damned thing. torque sucks you hit your peak then get overtaken. it's only for initial take off. I'd like to hear from someone who went from turbo to supercharger on the same engine. -
