Drag Racing Gearbox
underground replied to Morgs's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Guys, I really hope you will share some advice. I have a 700 whp RB26DETT 240SX with a GT4088R and nitrous setup. At the moment, I am planning on running a RB25DET Stock Gearbox with a Unsprung Exedy Triple Disc Clutch. I have been told that the gearbox will not last very long at this powerlevel, and that I need to rethink my game plan. I feel very torn, as this is a street car for me, with the occasional stint at the drag strip. I have been speaking with Dane @Desynz in Australia, and he has mentioned the Holden Trimatic Auto Setup. Any feedback on this suggestion? I have also been looking at the PPG Gearsets, but I am leary of whether they will holdup to the abuse this car will be put through. Thanks! Chris -
I wanted to post some pics of the build on my car to show it's progress level. I had to order custom motor mounts for the car, and they should be here sometime later this week. Right now, it appears like the car is 2-3 weeks from being completed. It would be much sooner, but I am still waiting on parts to arrive from Japan.

Hey Guys, I am (with the help of several sponsors) aggressively working to finish our car in time for the USA NOPI 2007 Tour. As it has been since 2004, the car will once again be featured in the BF Goodrich Tires Booth at select locations nationwide. I'm going to make this the official thread, and will be updating the thread over the next 6-8 weeks while we finish up the car. Here is the current mod list, and the latest pictures/videos will be posted soon. 1998 RB26DETT 240SX Weight: 2950 lb. Hum, what about the smaller GT42 non ball-bearing version? How would that compare? -

Yes, I am leaning toward the T04Z myself. -

It's been modified to a raised T4 divided flange, so that the previous owner could use his GT42R setup. It was on a R32 GTR Drag Car. The wastegate piping was modified to fit a HKS 60mm wastegate. Here are some photos for the manifold. -
Hey Everyone, I was offered a Trust Single Turbo Manifold from a fellow forum member for an extremely reasonable price, and could not turn it down. Due to the fact we already have issues with the stock twins clearing the steering parts, I feel this should resolve these issues, and keep us from having to pull the motor everytime something goes wrong on the exhaust side of the car. I'm now changing directions, and will be selling the twins. I'd love to see 650-700whp out of this turbo, as I dont know my 240SX will take much more. I can't put 400whp to the ground, so there is no need shooting for another 500-600whp on top of that. (Even though my block was built for it.) Due to the fact I just blew half my turbo budget on a manifold, I will be sticking with something journal bearing to save cash. I can always upgrade later, but getting my car back on the street is my first priority. I'd be curious to hear your suggestions.

Eagle is a US Domestic Parts based company, that focuses mostly on the Chevy/Ford Market.... They, unlike the others, aren't going to mark up the Japanese Car Parts prices and probably have little to no idea, on their competitors pricing. I can assure you this piece is not even on their radar, in regards to their top selling pieces. Like I said, they are well respected in the domestic market (I'm a previous 03 Mustang Cobra, and two Z06 Corvettes), and I have no fear of running them on my car.

Hey Guys, I am a huge fan of Eagle products, and am glad to see they have released a set for the RB26DETT Motorset. If this is old news to some of you, then disregard this post. I noticed a press release on their website, so I assume these are brand new or have only been released for a short time. Part #CRS4783N3D 4.783" stock dimension fitment for Nissan RB26, 3/8" ARP 2000 bolts $600.00/set Even better, they only retail for $600/set so you should be able to find some great deals on pricing through their dealers. This price includes ARP Rod Bolts, so the pricing is fantastic. Here's the link to their website, I hope you guys send them some business, as there very nice folks with a high quality product. http://www.eaglerod.com/products/Nissan/Nissan%20rods.html

286 rwkw out of stock RB26DETT, 15 PSI, dyno!
underground replied to underground's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
It weighs in at 3100 w/ fluids and myself... Keep in mind, this car has undergone quite a few weight reduction mods... I will be hopefully hitting the drag strip once I put new axles in it... I have gone through two sets of axles as the factory ones wont take the beating... I expect the car to run high 11's on 15 PSI... -
