You can also use the japanese Blue VIN plate on fire wall to search your own car on www.partsouq.com when your looking for parts/specs on your particular car. Eg ECR33-133972

That same dealer has quite a few cars with very low kms & very clean. I was looking at at an R32 GTST4 with only 43,000kms ($23,000) and they could produce a Japanese import paper to prove kms. Think the dealer is interested in high end cars looking at their prices. Id consider buying a GTR from them if I had the $$.

Just found out R34 onwards has BCM = potential pain in ass if your ignition gets bungled. R33 its just a change of barrel and keys etc. -

My mechanic has just advised that sometimes if the ignition is damaged you might need to replace the module also which can cost $$$. Anyone had this problem or know what it costs or how hard to source parts? -

Thanks have touched base with him, cheers! -
I only use two mechanics that i know do a good job and both rebuild classics and/or race so there's no chance of it being ignored. Which i appreciate as i know the work done is quality. VIC roads are quite tough now and they take photo's of the car's too for roadworthy, they sift through everything. Is it an expensive venture to remove the HICAS eliminator for rego? What part's do i need to buy if any to restore it to stock?

Hi Was looking at bidding on an SII auto R33 GTST. But it's a stolen recovery which has no keys available and the ignition barrel is damaged. Question 1: How do you get the car out of park to roll it off a tow truck? Question 2: How expensive is this to source parts and fix including sourcing a new key? Just weighing up if it's worth the hassle.

Not sure if I want to go too drastic and disable the HICAS. But if installing coil overs , other suspension mods causes issues with HICAS then thats another issue I will look into beforehand i guess. The car is a really well kept unmolested 1997 40th LP2 SII GTST coupe completely stock up to the original cassette player only a baby with 96,000kms , import papers, original log book, I'm the 1st Aussie owner so wanna keep that vibe with a few simple mods. If I decide to go ballistic I reckon I'll save up and buy a GTR SII and watch my wallet turn into flames along with my bank account. [emoji846]

Hi Ive got a stock SII 1997 R33 GTST Coupe. Would like some advice on aftermarket options. Currently have stock 16"rims but going to replace with 18-19" rims. Main use is daily driving and something solid in wet weather. Car is running stock engine at this point. Is it best to just buy a set of lowering springs after fitting the larger rims OR will that stress out the stock shock absorbers? Or is there a good aftermarket coil over suspension set up on the market which I can purchase suitable for daily driving? Main issue is I don't want to keep swapping/upgrading suspension as I slowly modify the vehicle. Anyone recommend a supplier in VIC city areas that I can get quotes from? Eg Bilstein, Cusco, Tein etc etc.

Maybe the 128,000kms vs price unless it had a proven solid service history Id be reluctant to buy....who knows..."export certificate stating genuine kms" ... Maybe it has another engine dropped in it....

Powdercoated Rims a Good option.

Got the Sandblasting done at Chandler Engineering, Tullamarine. Powder coating done at Top Cote , Airport West. Both great places. And both places know each other. Definitely recommend both businesses. Nice blokes. -

Powdercoated Rims a Good option.
mercyseat replied to mercyseat's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Sandblasting was approx $40 - $50 per rim. Again depends on work required. But you need to remove anything plastic and weights from each rim beforehand. These had little plastic inserts stuck in with double sided tape which took me 2hrs to remove which was annoying. Powdercoating is usually approx $450 for 4 Rims. But I got it done cheaper as our workplace gets work through them on a regular basis. All depends on what colour you want and rim size. Approx $50 for new centre caps. They look brand new again! Mainly did it because I like the huge dish on these rims. 18x7.5 front 18x8.5 rear
