Financial Repossession Owes banks around $150,000, no reserve set yet possibly $50,000 Goes up for auction tomorrow Way over my dreams but maybe someone here can get a bargin! 07/12, Nissan, GT-R, R35 MY12 DCT AWD, Coupe http://www.pickles.com.au/cars/item/-/details/CP-07-12--Built-06-12--Nissan--GT-R--R35-MY12-DCT-AWD--Coupe--4-Seats--2-Doors/980266639

Because when they are complied the rules are stricter as they have to pass a pretty strict roadworthyinspection. Plus you can get cars with Japanese history's. The parts in Japan shit over the one's we have here. Eg. A heavily modified Japanese Jun Garage car I'd rate over anything built here. The Japanese have better accessibility too to modified parts that suit these cars. Sure a good mechanic here can inspect a potential car but lets face it, these car's are flogged. And next to no one will sell one with a roadworthy certificate , even just the GTST's on the market 80% selling privately owned won't give roadworthys....

Yeah, other issue's are you don't know how much they've been flogged or how good a job they've done on any mods done. I've bought my past 3 R33 direct imports from Japan (all stockys) at least you have the satisfaction you know the history of the car more than buying one here. There's another Yellow one that just came up on the market. They originally were asking $26,000 but strangely put it up to $29,000. It's got import paper's apparently http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Nissan-Skyline-1995/SSE-AD-3691719/?wt.z_driver=homepage_Recently_Viewed3 The GTR engine's are so expensive it's worth taking time to find a good one. Goodluck.

You just missed this one go today at Pickles auction for $13500 ish....waay over priced if you ask me.Engine had rocks inside oil cap, every panel kicked or keyed and interior damaged http://www.pickles.com.au/damaged-salvage/item/-/details/C1995--Nissan--Skyline--Coupe/252448349

It's a 1997 Series 2 Both passenger and driver's deployed. Passenger one just flipped open and cracked windscreen from force too. Pretty annoying really. My boyfriend cracked his sternum from the impact of the passenger one deploying. Looks like around $3000 to fix...whole dash would have to come out i think.

I'm getting my wreck back from the insurance company. We've negotiated a price I'm happy with. I'm considering selling the complete car as one piece with import paper's, Japanese history books, and I have the rego paper's. Engine has only 98,000kms.Gearbox was gold too post MVA. Car never been modified. Only imported 3 months ago so I'm the first owner. It's a repairable write off, the car is more than 15 year's old so VIC Roads advised it doesn't require a VIV only a roadworthy which helps. I wanted to repair but I can't get any viable quotations to repair the airbags. The body work isn't the issue. Is there any economical airbag repairers in VIC? Anyways if I decide to sell the wreck I'll post it on another thread later down the line.

I noted that too.The Engine and VIN numbers showed that, not typical numbers. It was a reconditioned engine "apparently" that had 170,000kms clocked up = a tired engine. I took a wide berth and walked away from it. Looked like the car had been passed around mates numerous times. I've found a better specimen last weekend which I'm looking into.

I'm trying to fix my 1997 Series II Nissan Skyline R33 GTS-T 40th Anniversary model automatic front end and was told when I bought mine there are subtle cosmetic changes but I can't find any specs for this model compared to the standard Series II. There are also engine bay differences between the two again can't find an actual spec document for this model. Is it worth contacting Nissan directly? I'm searching for a bonnet and complete front bar headlights etc section. Trying to work out if the standard Series II front/bonnet would match up? They look fairly similar. I've added a picture of the car pre crash.

Thanks Heaps, sounds more like trouble than good. I figured there was a reason why the car was offered with no RWC. They didn't know anything about the engine's history other than listing what he'd reckoned was done. No receipts nothing. My other question was do you need any import or original RAWs compliance paperwork if you buy without a roadworthy? I thought you'd need a copy of the compliance paperwork if your buying without a roadworthy. I wasn't after the engine, I wanted to use the front section to restore my own car's damage. Really didn't know what to offer. So offered

http://carzon.com.au/index.html This guy in dandenong installs GPS tracking systems at good rates. Only $15 per month. You can log online 24/7 to see where your car is & see the driving history for up to 6mths. You get kudos on your insurance policy too. Hope you find the car mate, sooner rather than later.

Hi Looking for some advice on buying a modified car that has no roadworthy. The car I'm looking at has brake upgrades,3 exhaust turbo back with high flow cat, suspension upgrades, larger turbo upgrade, air intake upgraded, turbo timer/boost control, upgraded injectors, spare intercooler yet to be installed so running standard cooling.Radiator top tank was empty when I looked so I didn't test drive it. The engine has been replaced with a reconditioned engine. Dash says 260,000 km's but reco engine installed at 170,000kms "apparently". The car is registered but the guy isn't selling with a roadworthy which is my concern. He also doesn't have the import paper's as he's I think the third owner. Are any of these mods illegal to register if I'm copped with the roadworthy? He's asking $7,800 which I think it isn't worth without roady. Not sure what's a fair price for it? It's 1998 R33.....I've added some pictures if that helps.

I Stupidly Bought Repairable Write Off Unknowingly
mercyseat replied to blaylock's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Which insurance companies insure repairable write off? I'm curious to kniw if they charge like a wounded bull or refuse to insure. If the car's are repaired by a good smash repairer and inspected I don't see the issue in buying a repairable write off, guess it's just knowing if the work done was decent and nit dodgy. -
Could anyone recommend a good smash repairer, panel beater around Coburg, VIC area? Someone that's has knowledge and accessible to Skyline import parts...
-
Jury is out. It's one point off a complete write off....repairable but not viable. Right hand chassis rail has been compromised, he wasn't sure about the left hand side. Also he couldn't confirm if the front of the engine block got damaged which just increases the cost to repair. .. I enquired to buy back the salvage but they wanted $2400....again not viable. Have to let it go. If i had the time and space I'd buy it and repair it myself. But if I was to ever sell it, it would come up as being written off so best to just cut the losses. ..at this point around $4000 out of pocket. Lucky i didnt buy the $3500 Volk rims i was looking to fit it out with. I'd buy another R33 again if I could get a decent insurance quote. Shannons wouldn't do the agreed value i wanted without a ridiculous premium so I ended up with RACV. They're handling it the case good so far. Just thought being almost 40 years old and a great driving history I'd got better rates overall in all insurance companies.
-
I'm hoping nothing structural is damaged....chassis, engine, transmission. Been looking at other option's. I like Elgrande vans and Stagea wagons but again insurance is hard to get and expensive. Think it's ridiculous that import cars driver's cop it in the insurance dept as parts are alot more accessible than they were 10 years ago.
-
I'm with a reputable insurer. There's no problems there. As to who's fault, probably more than one person's fault but me being the last car will/have copped it. Still in shock from the damage done seemingly i actually stopped less than 100 metres prior to let the car i ran into , in front out of the side street. So from stop to accident within 100 metres is fairly unfortunate. As mentioned i blacked out and only remember the airbag going off in my face. Was just too wet, people rubber necking the car broken down on the side lane...etc etc. For me the car's sentimental more than money is worth. My last 1994 R33 was car jacked in Sydney back in 2004. So I'd waited over 10 years to buy another one. I'd only imported this car less than two months ago....pretty bummed out about the whole shit-suation. Regardless I've lost $$ . I doubt I'll buy another one knowing they're a write off at 20 km's once the airbags are deployed.
-
I wasn't tailgating anyone. It's in dispute as to the car in front slammed his brakes on first hitting two cars in front of him first. It's insured for $10000 agreed value. I'm hoping if they write it off of possibly buying back the salvage if it's considered a repairable write off. The car's immaculate pre accident, good resale for parts possibly, who knows. Will decide after I hear back from the assessor's in a few day's. Just didn't know what airbags cost to replace.
-
Was involved in a 4 car pile up last weekend. My pride and joy which was only imported two months ago from Japan was beat up pretty bad but the accident was under 20 km's as far as I can remember as it's all blurry after the airbags went off. 1997 R33 GTST Skyline 40th Anniversary model automatic Midnight Purple, only 98,000kms on the clock. I want to know if my car a salvageable.... Front was pushed in just touching the front of the timing case. Engine didn't spill oil and transmission also fine. Bonnet bent, pretty much front end damaged. Car was towed away. .....awaiting report from insurance company to be assessed. Csn I get it assessed? As I believe that it's repairable... Both passenger doors open fine. No rear damage, just bonnet and front end. I'd post photos if I could here but haven't figured out how to yet...

Rare Skyline Register
mercyseat replied to glenndrayton's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I recently imported a 1997 40th anniversary model R33 Turbo it's got the "smart" ignition coils not above the engine but near firewall. Ceramic compressor, pistol grip gear nob / overdrive,radio/cassette player, R34 standard rims, sway bar in boot, custom badged interior def quite a few differences to a usual R33. The ignition coils were the most significant change I can see. No idea how many were made, prob not as rare as GTR models. -
From the album: 1997 R33 GTST Skyline 40th Anniversary
This was my first fresh import R33 back in 2004. 18x8 front, 18x9.5 rear. 3" exhaust, 400R kit ,rare Blue colour at the time,Rest of the csr was stock. I was car jacked in Newtown in 2004, two men pushed me out of my car and took off with it. Never found a piece of it, keys found in the gutter in Strathfield NSW. Doesn't matter how good alarm you have when two guys physically remove you from your vehicle. Insurance companie ripped me off too with stupid 10% insured value stolen excess, extra $2,000 premium because it had mag wheels & bodykit then they dropped my no claim bonus from 40% down to 10% when it wasn't even my own fault though they trued to make out I'd planned it getting stolen, very bitter end. Loved that car. ... It's over 10 years now and I've bought another R33 to finish off what I started 10 years ago.© (c) copyright 2004 angie fitz

Hi, My R33 has only 93,000kms but it's a fresh import. 1997 GTST Turbo Automatic Coupe 40th Anniversary Model. 11/97 1/ Is it worth getting the timing belt replaced? 2/ If yes whilst the engine cover is off is it worth replacing the water pump and is it?.. the two harmonic bearings? Purely to save the labour charges.... Not sure what the average timing belt replacement costs are these days, I just remember my old 1994 Skyline cost around $1,200 to get similar work done back in 2004 but think they also replaced the spark plugs and fixed a power steering leak.
