So.. I'm Getting A R34 Gtr, Need Few Help Pls.
djvoodoo replied to Edifier's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
If this is TRUE, you could sue him for FRAUD and actually put him in jail. Looks as though either he has a man on the ground in Japan making fake auction/ dereg certificates, or he is doing it himself after the fact. This is WORSE than just ODO tampering if this is truth. **These are only my opinions, and as this is a public forum, my opinion is just that, an opinion, not gospel** -

I'd take the Cam cover off and check for the original timing belt too!!!! If you were doing water pump, you would also do the timing belt (which would be a 100,00km service). May give you some good hints as to whether or not it's actually done over 100K depending on condition of belt. -

What's your budget? Why not get Stune shocks/springs? You planning to slam/dump your car or have respectable ride height? Honestly, how many times do you plan on changing ride height. Most people set height, change damper and then never touch it again!!!!!

Help Me Raise My Car - Pedders Coilovers
djvoodoo replied to tripsteady's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I believe the Pedders coilovers are exactly the same as BC Racing. All you need to do is jack the car up (rest on jack stands of course) Undo the bottom collar, and turn the shock clockwise approx 5 mm. These coilovers are designed so that you don't need to remove the tower from it's perch. Youtube 'install coilovers' and you will be able to find something to help. Should not take you longer than 15 mins per side. -
Pick Apart My Ign Map - Rb26 Tune
djvoodoo replied to djvoodoo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Ok. So assuming the Dyno run was done in 4th gear, max torque appears to be at around road speed 125-130kph, which would equate to around 4600 rpm and then starts to fall. So assuming in this Load area, I reduce the timing to around 20deg, the remainder of the timing map should be equal to or higher than 20 deg (if knock is not reading higher, and EGT's remain the same) -
Pick Apart My Ign Map - Rb26 Tune
djvoodoo replied to djvoodoo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I guess my next question is. Currently along rows N16-N20 in the Load areas L14/L15. Timing is already around the 20-22 degree mark. Whilst some are saying that it should increase as RPM closes out to max, I should not increase this anymore, but rather decrease along the 4000-6400 rpm band where MBT is. Would it be a silly move to increase timing in N16-N20 even if knock stays the same? Would I see any advantage or am I already at the potential limit of this particular tune? -
Pick Apart My Ign Map - Rb26 Tune
djvoodoo replied to djvoodoo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Prior to getting it tuned I had a look at other RB maps and i was also wondering myself why the decrease. I have taken -2 deg off rows 14-15 in the 4000-6000 rpm range. Will get the tune re-done shorlty -

Pick Apart My Ign Map - Rb26 Tune
djvoodoo replied to djvoodoo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Using Pulp98 - Cas was set at 20 deg manually, then tuned. i have not physically checked this though. EGT on full noise will be in the vicinity of 500-600 degrees. I need a second set of eyes though as I cannot be certain. the most I have seen exh temp was around 760, but that was highway driving at 110k's in 4th/5th. -

Yes, i'd say between 3500-5000 rpm on light/mid load -
Pick Apart My Ign Map - Rb26 Tune
djvoodoo replied to djvoodoo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The majority of higher knock (25-30) happens on light/mid load areas of the map. I'm taking a guess and saying the fuel load for these areas is prob on the leaner side to try maintain fuel economy while cruising. -

Pick Apart My Ign Map - Rb26 Tune
djvoodoo replied to djvoodoo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hmmm, will take that on board. I have used the temp ign adjust to dial back the entire map by -1 and doesn't affect knock reading whatsoever. have also tried adjusting +1 all round and same deal, knock reading is pretty much the same all round. Def felt perkier in low rpm though when I went up +1 on the temp ign. I don't have a datalogit and couldn't be bothered with mapping out the entire inj map, but will put it on the dyno to look at AFR's. -
Hi all I am happy with the state of my tune and power delivery (263kwatw). Knock sits between 15-30 on an average day (say between 20-28 degree temp day) The highest i've seen knock was at about 42-43, but that was on a 36+ deg day and me giving it some (prob not the best idea i know) Using map tracer, when on full load (about 1.1 bar), I generally use L14 and L15 on the map. Exh temp sits around 600-700 degrees when on light load areas higher in the map where timing is around 35-40 deg. What do you guys think of the timing map?

There are also ways to bypass NATS altogether. People do it all the time when installing standalone ECU's like power FC etc

Most tuning shops with consult port setups can read the key and program your spares. Most normal locksmiths and key cutters won't do it. Most of their RF chip readers will not understand the JDM code.
