Nx-R Nissan. A Better Car Than Porshe
djvoodoo replied to flyson's topic in General Automotive Discussion
lol "Cute" -
Hey NSW members. I am getting married on the 1st March 2014. Location is Sutherland Shire region, and need an R35 as the getaway car from the reception. Please PM me and I will provide further info (out of respect i'm not putting my Wedding info on a public forum)

I kinda disagree with the pedestrian crossing somewhat. Don't know what the Roads authority are thinking, but there are some crossings that go green for literally 2 seconds before the red man appears. I know of 1 particular 6 lane highway that does this. How can an average man walk across a 6 lane highway in 2 seconds.... Mind boggles. But i do know where you are coming from.

What Makes The R33 "ugly" ?
djvoodoo replied to tripsteady's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Lol, let me explain myself by what I meant. Stereotypes judge a group or sub group based on social norms. E.G, "all asians a shit drivers" -that's a stereotype. Cars fall into the same category, and it changes they way in which people view the car (makes it ugly by association) The point i was trying to make is that it's not just the 'design' of the car that makes it sexy/ugly. It's how the car is associated with the public E.G, Commodore is a bogan mobile R33 is a boat Lancer is a girls car It affects the way in which we identify with the car, which makes it ugly. 10 years ago the most common Skyline on the street was the R33, which had a "stereotype". This stereotype for an R33 in Sydney was - Chrome, big bodykit, chameleon paint, massive stereo driving up and down George St or Brighton Le Sands. This affected the way people viewed the car, therefore affecting it's sex appeal to the public. The R32/R34 had a different stereotype, and was not viewed in exactly the same fashion as the 33, hence why they tend to appeal more to a variety of people. Feel free to disagree -

I think there is also an element of "ownership" stereotyping that also plays a part. What i mean by this is: R32 stereotype - owned by drifters/cool kids/young kids and die hard "Godzilla" fans R33 stereotype - owned by 'lebo's'/kids who were into sex spec and the era of autosalon & chrome R34 stereotype - owned by the "fast and furious" era, more likely to be into technology and have more money to spend These are just stereotypes, but do effect the sexiness or appeal of the car. R33 just happened to be in an era where chrome, hideous body kits and outrageous paintwork were the fashion. Not much really went on in the mid 90's, and it's reflected in the design of the car. -
People Don't Want To Race Our Skylines.......
djvoodoo replied to Goombeh's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I think someone mentioned before in this thread.. somewhere.. It's no longer "boy racers" It's middle aged men and soccer mums in their SUV, 4WD compact that are the aggressive drivers these days. every time i've had a tailgater/douche trying to speed ahead in front it's a massive 4wd with mum or dad at the wheel, kids in the back and a "my family" sticker. It's funny how 40+ age bracket tend to be more road rage'rs/ race car drivers than the average 20 yr old in a commo now!! -
How did you come up with that figure lol. Off a 60 lt tank, it would end up more like 500Km's a tank around town.

P.S, seeing as though the car does has accident history. some $100 decals aint gonna do shit to resale...... Your car is worth much less now that's its been in an accident
-
so when you sell the car to said P Plater. I hope you tell them the full history of the car and the accident damage. Or are you just going to be a dodgey f**k........................ "Never had an accident" I'm sure people will recognise this car as soon as it hits carsales etc. All evidence is in this thread

There are 2 sides to every story. I really do believe the topic has been taken way out of context. It was meant to be a harmless meet for R34 GTR owners, that's all......Nothing sinister about it, but every Tom, Dick and Harry feels obliged to run their mouth. Yes, I do acknowledge the segregation of models from the meet has ruffled a few feathers. Analogy...... I would get quite offended if someone created a festival event and it said "white people only" no "blacks" etc. So i get the haters comments in this thread. It's a similar ideology. On the other side of the fence, why all the hate? Are we not of the same forum affiliation? Do we not share the same interests in cars? Are we not in a democracy where we can choose to do what we want? If OP wants just R34's , why get your panties in a bunch? Just let them do it and move on!

Fs - Swap - 1986 Vl Commodore - Rb30De
djvoodoo replied to walky01's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
I agree with you totally, there are better cars for the track. here's one example.............. Again, not being an arse, but you are missing the point. You have a nice car, but OVERPRICED...... I can buy a VL turbo equivelant for 10K cheaper that will smash yours around a track -

djvoodoo replied to walky01's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
You have to look at it from a buyers perspective. Dollar for dollar, you will get better value from an 08-09 VE SS commo with 200RWKW (there are some beautiful examples in car sales for 22-23K) compared to what you are offering. Sure you may get a couple of die hard VL fans that would pay your asking price, but factor in the amount of choice out there, your asking price is just too high. Not trying to rain on your parade, but it's a buyers market right now, if you want to sell, you need to move a bit on your asking price - sub 20K Why do you think your VL is so special? The amount of $$$ you spent doesn't mean jack at the point of sale. The buyer doesn't care, they just want the best deal, and i'm afraid your's is not. -

Op can ask for whatever he wants i guess, but OP, put into perspective 20-25k can get you: Clean CT9A Evo's R33 GTR VE SS Commodores! XR6 turbo Supra All of which are better equipped, have more power, newer and more sort after. -

Very nice looking VL. That said, isn't 25k a little on the ambitious side? -
I've heard the 200 CPI Catco metal cats are EPA approved, or at least pass emmissions here?
-
Yep, should be there :-)
-
Not exactly Skyline related... But if i were a betting man, i'd invest in a clean VB/VK Brock SS group Commodore. Will only appreciate as the years go on, moreso now that Holden are gone. Could be said for the XY/ 351 era of Falcons too, and some of those are already in the 6 figure value. True iconic piece of Australian motoring history that will never be replaced! never to be repeated again!
-
Personally I think the only Skyline to appreciate in price will be factory clean GTR examples in Vspec or limited edition variants/colours

Everyone else is attacking Joe, doesn't he get the right of reply? Not saying who is right or wrong, but if people dish it out, only fair that he is allowed to fight back. -
Where is the original VIN stamp on the drivers side firewall? Looks like it's missing????
