Removal And Replacement Of R34 Gtt Front Fenders
djvoodoo replied to djvoodoo's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Nice. Thanks buddy -
Hey fellas. I've used the search features, most of the topics regarding R34 fenders relate to GTT to GTR conversions/bodykits, couldn't find anything on the simple replacement of standard fenders and what work is involved. Had a little bit of a bust up with my left front fender. My question is can you replace the fender yourself, i.e If I got a fender from the wreckers do I need to weld, cut or use a professional panel beater? Or is it a simple pull off and swap bolt on job?

From memory there was a study done on the most common cars impounded from the hoon laws Report: 46% Of Australia’s Impounded Cars Are Holdens General Motors’ Australian Holden brand remains the choice of hooligans down under, as police in the Australian state of Victoria announced that 46% of cars impounded under their “hoon” laws. Ford is the second most popular with 16.7% of the impound share, while Nissan is third with 7.8%. Nuff said really. Get whatever car is comfortable for your needs, but if people want to wage the Holden vs Jap war, Bogans will support Holden/Ford. Tech savvy and more "learned" drivers will choose Jap. I personally love V8's too, especially the GT Falcon from the 70's era, but most V8 drivers are narrow minded, and won't accept that a Holden or Ford is based on a FAMILY people sedan chasis.....
-
Agreed. I can understand wanting a track car to be working within it's peak rev range and at peak power, but on a street car, how often do u get to 6.5K rpm and stay there to make the most of that peak power. That's why i have a better opinion of road tune vs dyno tune. On the road, you are the one driving so you can tell the difference in every aspect of the tune
-
Hi SAUers..... I'm curious to peoples opinions on peak power vs torque when tuning and what you prefer. I've had my car (R34GTT) road tuned (by Toshi) and finally had the chance to put it up on the dyno. Relatively low peak power figure of 170rwkw on 11psi but with 457nm of torque and AFR sitting on an even 12:1 (according to this particular dyno, @ air temp of 22deg). Although it's a low rwkw reading, the amount of torque I have is quite breathtaking, and accelaration and on boost pull is more than enough to start your heart. I'd have to ask Toshi about the map he created, i.e timing etc. I'm not at all dissapointed by the peak power figure because there is more than enough torque to put me in the seat. So why is every1 so hung up on how much KW they pull at the wheels for everyday street driving? Opinions?

If Only I Lived In Nsw What A Bargin
djvoodoo replied to maddowse's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Haha, Nice- I think they updated the advertisement to include that bolt. You can purchase other items off the car though, someone was after the front bar for $600 -
Front/dump pipes should be OK, but make sure you have a standard cat and cat back zorst. It's the Cat that does the job of neutralising the gasses that go through so that's the main importance. Most likely your battery tray or part of the chassis has been cut in order to put the FMIC on. This is considered a big no no... If you can put on a SMIC (a turn flow may pass) and re-enforce or bog up the cut in the chassis (shows that it's at original chassis strength) you will be Ok. You will also need to show you have full standard intake including snorkel.

If Only I Lived In Nsw What A Bargin
djvoodoo replied to maddowse's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Hmmmmmm. It doesn't specify whether the sale is for specific "parts" only or the car as a whole (it does say wrecking though). If you won it for 99c you could possibly argue that the whole car was advertised 'as is' if it went to the legal authorities. That's the problem with Ebay... If you are not specific in what you advertise, you could end up screwing yourself over or losing big time... -
How Does The Ecu Learn On A Non Turbo?reset The Ecu?
djvoodoo replied to samuri's topic in General Maintenance
U gotta remember that the standard ECU Map or "data" is stored in ROM, meaning it's burned into the chip on the ECU. The data therefore cannot be changed unless the chip is remapped/reburned. Resetting the ECU won't do much, it won't "learn". All it will do is re-evaluate what's in the ROM and continue to do what it is programmed to do. -
Have you tired asking nissansilvia.com ?

Toyota AE86 Sprinter with the 4age 16v. RWD platform, light weight, high revving motor, good aftermarket support, use it for drift or circuit depending on setup. Cheap to maintain, cheap to repair, good street cred

Which Gauge Reading Should I Be Reading
djvoodoo replied to djvoodoo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
It's a fairly cheap gauge, "Drift" branded, so one of the ones you can pick up at Autobarn etc etc (was on the car when I bought it). It does sit perfectly on 0 when off. I'm still leaning towards referencing the Greddy though -
My Greddy Profec B II and aftermarket boost gauge read about 1.5psi in difference (on RB25det Neo). Greddy is tapped into the boost pressure sensor- reads hi of 11.2 Boostgauge is tapped into one of the vacuum lines on the inlet manifold (kinda near the AAC screw)- reads 12.5 Should I be trusting the reading from the Greddy rather than the aftermarket gauge? As most people suggest, trying not to put more than 11.5psi through the Neo turbo.

It is a lucrative market in Australia, and doing it right can in return, provide a good source of income, employment and street credibility amongst the car scene. But your question is vague..... how long is a piece of string?? Things like workshop location, condition of workshop, mechanical experience, testimonials of cars owners who have had their cars tuned by your friend etc etc and the fact that their are already dozens of tuning shops to choose from all come into play. Don't expect to open a workshop in Rural Camden NSW and have loads of JDM cars turn up at your doorstep.. I don't own a performance workshop, nor do I tune cars, but I have a business and commerce degree so it's a principle that can be applied to any start up business, including an ECU tuning shop. Yes it is Lucrative, but to what degree??? depends on who you ask and what your goals are
-
Yea taking off all intake pipework and cooler pipework this afternoon. Will check all vac hoses and exhaust gaskets too. Will even try installing the SMIC and put the standard BOV back on too. I hope it's something very simple and easy.
-
Yea cool cool, point taken. I'll take it like a man and admit I was wrong about the model badging.
-
Lo boost on Greddy - gain 28% set gain 13% Start gain .46 gives me about 7.3 peak boost Hi boost on Greddy - gain 38% set gain 18% start gain .55 gives me about 9.3 peak boost Running "lo" boost is fine Running "hi" = what you see on the dyno charts
