Number of blades on a turbine - cause/effect
djvoodoo replied to djvoodoo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
As a real example. Say we compare the HKS GT-SS and HKS 2510 turbos. They are in essence, the same item. The 2510 is just the predecessor of the SS GT-SS uses 6 blades for comp, and 9 for turbine 2510 uses 6 blades for comp, and 11 for turbine. Both use ball bearings, both use inconnel for the blades but there are slight differences in wheel trim and housing design. 2510 is rated at 600PS, whereas the GT-SS is rated at 560PS. So apart from the number of blades, the difference in power, flow and boost thresholds are more now to do with blade design, material and housing trims? -
Number of blades on a turbine - cause/effect Unsure if this has been covered in great detail at all on SAU. With regards to turbo compressor/turbine blade design. What is the effect of having say 9 blades vs 11 blades on the turbine side if all else is equal (housing and wheel trims etc). Same said for the compressor. E.G - standard R34 GTR turbos have like 5 blades vs -9's etc that have 6 on the comp side From the 5 mins of searching i've done... The more blades the better it helps with low down rotational force, but can constrict top end. The more blades the more efficient at higher boost thresholds. I notice that a lot of billet wheel compressor blades are 11 single blade design Does this sound anywhere near half correct?

Lack of Power/Lack of Boost - RB26
djvoodoo replied to No Crust Racing's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Has it been determined why it failed? Excessive boost? -

A symptom of a cooked turbo bearing would be grey/white smoke yea? -
Will def be going a 285 x 30 next time (might try a sneaky 295 and see if it's workable too)

No scrub on full lock in any direction, but i used a heat gun on the inner arch liners and pushed them back. I'm running about an inch lower than standard Vspec suspension on Tein Super Streets

I have D9R's in 19 x 10.5 + 15 on my GTR. I run Hankook 275 x 30 x 19 and there is only a tiny bit of stretch .. certainly not hella stretched brosef stance though.

HKS Silent Hi Power Catback for 32 GTR
djvoodoo replied to Gr33k123's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Does the HKS Silent run a 2.5 inch neck down in the main Cannon? I thought that was the main difference between the silent and Hi Power exhausts?- 3 replies

Brake Pads Users Ratings Guide
djvoodoo replied to Snowman's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I have Intima SR's as well on new RDA slotted rotors. Bedding in procedure was done correctly, but mine squeal like a pig when light breaking (i'm talking car park below 15km/h speeds) On the road and under normal to heavy breaking they are noise free -
qld Gtr 34 series II 08/2002
djvoodoo replied to V8etr's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Pretty sure it's "All" series 2 R34 GTR's that came with black seats no matter what designation - standard/vspec etc. Have seen plenty of Auctions of standard series 2 year 2000 and above with black interior. -
I ran 275x35x19 on my R34 GTR (work d9r 19 x 10.5 +15), which is mildly lowered. I couldn't go full lock without scrubbing on the inner guard linings on both sides. I went down to a 275x30x19 tyre and used a heat gun on my inner linings. No scrub whatsoever now.

R32 Gtr tomei exhaust thoughts?
djvoodoo replied to darkparagon's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
You should have a look at the HKS Super Turbo exhausts. Straight through muffler design yet it's still very streetable and quiet. -
BNR34 Apexi N1 Evo Cat back exhaust Selling a BNR34 Apexi N1 evo cat back. In very good condition. Purchased it new 4 years ago and has been on my 34 since it was imported into Aus in 2013. Piping is 80mm from Cat, then goes into 85mm to mid muffler, then into 95mm at the cannon. It's very quiet (quoted at 93db) and was good for around 300awkw. It does have the silencer step down in the rear cannon (like just about all of the Jap cannon cat backs do) So would be a restriction if aiming for 350kw+ These can be purchased from RHD etc. E.G https://www.rhdjapan.com/apexi-n1-evolution-exhaust-muffler-bnr34-rb26.html Take it away $400. Located Sutherland Shire NSW. Not willing to post due to size.

Yep, Vipec V44 plugin is 2.5 bar onboard, my bad. So technically, it's been tuned 'around' the extra 2 psi in midrange for me.

Fair enough. Mabee i was told incorrect info. Someone mentioned to me that 3 bar absolute is not the actual same as total "boost". And just looking up my Vipec, it's 2.5 bar map sensor or 22ps "boost"i? Could be completely wrong though.

Interesting topic re: Map sensor. I'm running -9's (GT-SS), on a Vipec. My tuner (DVS Jez) also tuned 'around' the 3 Map sensor. I hit 24psi boost as well from 4-5000rpm before it backs down to 21psi up until 8K redline.

And why's that. Seems obvious you're attacking me/and or others rather than the topic in question. Argue the video post, not the person.

You do realise that quote in Bible terms is actually referring to Adultery.... Anyway, I know what you are trying to say..........

You see things differently when you've seen a person get hit by a car. Witnessed this myself. It stays with you. What i witnessed was a truck> person- guts/convulsing and death......When you see paramedics doing CPR in real life, it's scary.....
