  1. hey what do you guys think about making sort of a SAU gt5 group, given that theres heaps of us here.. we could all post our user name up and we can share drivers, cars etc? or have i missed the boat and this already exists? thoughts??
  2. there is no r33 gtst in gran turismo 5. the japs dont drive whales, they eat them. just got the international A license with golds all the way.. with a standard controller.. super licence tomorrow maybe
  3. i've seen you going on about this a bit lately. short answer is no. and based on my experiences in my own car, and others, this is realistic. what does happen in the game, is if you accelerate going in a straight line and the road surface is completely flat, if you break traction, the ass end doesnt step out. if the road surface is anything less than perfectly flat.. ie.. most of daytona with a slight bank, yes it will step out as gravity pulls the ass towards the inside of the track. also if there is still some inertia left pushing the car in any lateral direction coming out of a corner, yes it steps out. the way you describe what happens in forza sounds slightly unrealistic if you ask me
  4. yea they obviously dedicated few system resources to rendering what shows up in the mirror, if you look at the white line on the edge of the track in the mirror when coming out of a corner you might notice that its usually not even rounded off, its just straight lines connected to straight lines, looks terrible. does anyone else seem to get a slightly decreased framerate when watching b-spec or a replay when there are several cars all bunched together and they're in close proximity to the camera as they go flying past, it looks like the system cant quite keep up the framerate.. but then i've had to repair my ps3 twice now and that could have taken its toll on things. all these gripes people have with it are only nit-picking issues though. i mean how often does a game developer get everything perfect first time. they got the vital things basically spot on imo.
  5. all in all i think its pretty awesome. the worst parts of the game seem to only be the annoying irrelevant stuff that has no bearing on the actual simulation experience itself. and hey maybe if we're lucky they'll fix the annoying parts soon enough with an online update. the new b-spec is sweet.
  6. yea the paint thing is a pain in the ass. and if you use one of those colours to paint another car, you cant use that colour again! this is bullshit.. if you go to any panel shop you pay the money and they'll paint your car any colour you want. you dont have to have acquired the paint beforehand lol. the other fkn annoying thing.. the process you have to go through to accept each prize car.. anyone else get fkd off doing that constantly? do we have like a sau gt5 group or anything? would be cool too have heaps of us sharing drivers etc
  7. im having trouble getting gold on the those as well, i think the closest i came was within .010.. yes im using controller. i suspected that was why. having a real hard time keeping a smooth line. is anyone else's not connecting to the community server? on the GT mode home page i go to community and it comes back saying error fail cannot do that etc
  8. wow. mine is the original 60gb console. maybe the new ones are faster. also has anyone seen anywhere local that you can buy the HKS racing controller? i found This Page but i think thats from the states. i asked at ebgames last night and the guy had never heard of it. i also heard its not wireless.. i might cry if thats true
  9. fucking forever! indicated 20 minutes = nearly 2 hours indicated 18 minutes = over an hour indicated 12 minutes = an hour indicated 1 minute 10 seconds = 45 minutes indicated 8 seconds = 15 minutes i was pulling my freaking hair out. now its finally done. fuck this im going to bed
  10. mine is installing as i type this. i have to say.. this is a painful wait. the apex book is impressive though. i reckon thats well worth the extra $10
  11. i've got a controller that seems to have developed a dodgy right analog stick. its intermittent, worst effect is in shooters, it keeps throwing the aim off in random directions. anyone else encountered this? i pulled it apart and cleaned it out a bit, didnt make any difference.
  12. lol. news to me
  13. i dont think many games companies want to encourage that kind of shit. bogans/rednecks arent the key demographic they'r going for. wastegates vented to atmo sound horrible IMO. the sole reason to do that is to attract attention to yourself from all the wrong sorts of people, be it the police or other hectics like yourself..
  14. and just what the hell was so disastrously wrong with prologue? if they made any sort of improvement over that i'll be well impressed. and im pretty sure the sound will be awesome.. the sound on prologue was awesome, and incredibly realistic. someone mentioned that the quality of your speakers makes a huge difference, well i have a very good quality amp and speakers (new in 1996, and was expensive) that have remarkable sound really. similar stuff you buy these days for the same money produce sound with nowhere near the clarity and depth that these things do. so i'd say anyone complaining about prologue's sound is probably using poor quality audio equipment. i used to sell stereos and the like up until a couple years ago and im here to say most audio stuff these days is absolute crap. unless your willing to part with a lot of cash.
  15. yeah good call. i'd imagine there'd be far more gamer bundies out at midnight for black ops though. i'd assume the gt5 crowd will be slightly older, slightly less geeky, and therefore probably not as dedicated to be out at midnight for it. i think i'll give them a ring later to see what sort of numbers they're expecting to turn up. hell i might just get it tomorrow morning if its going to be that chaotic
  16. lol got a call from ebgames the other day to say theyr doing a midnight release for it. open at 1030 with sony and their chumps there doing giveaways or something? sounds kinda lame to be honest. might just stroll in at 5 to 12, get the game and GTFO
  17. if they're only breaking down under load, then this wont work. having the vehicle stationary and revving it in neutral wont create any boost, and therefore no load, and the the spark will probably get through just fine. if you do manage to get the light show with no load on the engine then yeah the coil is well and totally had it
  18. any brand will do, Seagate, Western Digital, Samsung etc as long as its a SATA drive (serial ATA) 2.5". same size as laptops use. get the biggest capacity within your budget.
  19. are you talking about the game itself? or mx-5's lol
  20. that decision would not have been made lightly.. although it would be cool to have it, i dont think many people would use it in comparison to how many would just use the gtr. i still think theres hope for any cars people think have been overlooked, no reason why they cant make it DLC in the future if they get enough demand for it. still, surely they could have sacrificed one of the 25 mx-5's for it lol. and WTF is with having 25 mx-5's?! are most gran turismo fans middle age having a mid life crisis and balding or something?? are they hairdressers?? are they gay?? can someone explain?
  21. i think the wants and needs of australian fans would have been relatively insignificant compared to that of asia/europe/america. im pretty sure they have those POS official V8 supercars games.. go get one of those lol
  22. bound to have happened a million times over already given every man and his dog has a webpage these days. i'd say there will be many cases of web designers pulling a sneaky one and pulling out an old template from a previous job, passing it off as new work and charging full money for doing half the work lol. whos to say your designer didnt do that to yours in the first place? lol
