well i can only really comment on a few of those areas. small businesses, the ones that survived the quake and had good insurance, actually did quite well. i'm a manager at a pizza shop and we had a very busy year due to a lot of other places having to shut down so those left standing did quite well. those who weren't left standing, well that all depended on your insurance policy. immediately after the quakes, shit was crazy, we had to reduce our opening hours substantially so that we wouldn't run out of stock, as for the first few weeks after the quake we had supply issues because our suppliers were adversely affected. we had lines of customers out the door for hours on end, it was ridiculous. a lot of buildings in christchurch really needed a good earthquake and i can imagine theres a lot of owners that would have been stoked that they had insurance because they sure as hell weren't spending money in a hurry to fix them up, given the economy of the last few years. from what i gather, looting only really occurred a bit in the weeks immediately following the quakes, inside the cordoned off cbd anyway. the police came down very hard on those caught in the act and there was really no tolerance for it at all and it was much publicized by the media here so i think that would have put a lot of would be criminals off. initially real estate prices kind of died off as demand disappeared and a lot of people were just trying to get the hell out of christchurch. that said, now though, housing is now at a premium because so many houses have been deemed uninhabitable and everyone's trying to find somewhere else to live it's pushed prices up quite substantially, with insurance companies having to pay the rent for people to relocate, property owners can pretty much name their price lol. my parents have just been transferred with work over to queensland and have rented out their property here for the next 12-24 months. this time last year they were also facing the possibility of going over and the rental for their place was only going to be around ~$450 per week (this is a nice modern house, 2 story, 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom, on a 10-acre block). but by now they were told to list at $550 per week, so they advertised it and got inundated with inquiries, people were offering to pay the first 12 months in advance. also my sister who owns a place in christchurch is moving to auckland with work, she's renting out her place for $700 a week! (3 bedroom, 1 bathroom, small section, no yard etc), its not even a modern place, albeit tidy. shits crazy.

Wtf Is Wrong! ! Lol Rb25 Gearbox Into R32
Spurdo replied to jvc89's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
pressure plates should be the same, as aftermarket kits for these always say they will fit both rb20det or rb25det. one of my mates had the exact same thing happen after we installed a new clutch and short shifter on his r32 about 5 years ago, i could be wrong but i think we just had to make an adjustment at the master cylinder.. or maybe the one behind the clutch pedal.. i cant remember which one exactly. -

sau for me is now working perfectly again. anyone else?? -
my sau is displaying properly again.. has anyone else been magically cured? i wonder if someone fixed an issue with the site?

the YLOD fix won't fix it for long.. so back up all your saves to a flash drive or something before it shits itself again or you'll lose everything forever. speaking from experience. i fixed mine 3 times before it finally rendered itself un-fixable. OT: does anyone have an Audi R8 Le mans 2001? the one with the red paintwork, not the yellow? if you have it.. name your price.. i will trade just about anything for it.

i bought a walbro back in 2007 some time it arrived in much the same manner if i remember correctly, had no troubles with it.

i've found the ones that i would describe as "cheaply made pieces of shit" all seem to be the ones in the bottom half of the price range of any given brand's lineup. thats why i say buy the best one you can afford, because you get what you pay for. usually anything in the middle-upper half of the range is built a lot better and dont seem to have the strange issues that the cheapo's develop, from what i've seen over the years anyway. from what i've seen, this is true for pretty much every brand there is.

have never seen or heard of a china spec radiator causing problems. in most cases they are way overkill anyway.. a lot of us really seem to underestimate the capabilities of the stock radiator. a lot of the time people seem to write off things like stock radiators because "oh look it sprung a leak/got blocked after 10/15/20+ years! what a piece of crap! i had better go buy a super heavy duty shiny racing one so it won't overheat during my moderate day to day driving" this nonsense really seems to be the attitude and mentality of many import enthusiasts i've known and encountered over the years. truth be told, the %100 stock radiator, when operating properly, will do every bit as good a job at keeping your engine cool as any aftermarket will in pretty much all situations that road cars are likely to be in. IMO you really need to be flogging the shit out of your car ALL THE TIME (i.e. track car) to justify upgrading things like this. unless of course you need to replace it anyway and the oversize one is similar price as another standard one and you just want it for wank factor lol thats legit the china spec intercoolers are the ones that a few people seem to have their doubts about, but the radiators are all good.

i have just switched on my laptop, which i don't often use. the last time it would have been on the net was a while before i started having problems with sau on my desktop. my laptop also now has the same issue viewing sau and only sau. since the laptop doesnt get used much, there isn't much in the way of software on it. a year ago i did a clean install of win7 ultimate x64, since then its had office, chrome, MSE (antivirus), itunes... that is literally about all it has on it. have tried disabling/playing with MSE and no luck. very frustrating

even the best of laptops are still pretty shit for gaming on so i wouldn't get carried away being picky on something like graphics cards. as long as you avoid anything with "integrated graphics" and get something with a reasonable card it should be all good for just about any game your likely to play on it, as long as your not going to split hairs over it. still, cant hurt to get the card's model number from the prospective laptop and google it for some reviews or something. don't get too carried away with numbers on processors either. most i5's will comfortably handle any game you can throw at it, i7's are overkill in most cases. the graphics card is what does the bulk of the work to run games. and yeah the more ram the better usually. 8gb might be overkill for most of what you get up to but at least it'll be a bit more futureproof.

to be honest im pretty sure the brand of laptop has about nothing to do with reliability. i would have seen models from just about every brand have it's share of problems over the years and if theres one pattern i've noticed its that every brand has it's crap laptops, and they always seem to be the cheap ones. if you aim higher up their model lineup the build quality in general just seems to be a bit more solid IMO. the components are all made by external sources, all the notebook company does is slap them together inside a case. a lot of people like to drag acer through the dirt but i've had my acer since mid 2009 and it still works as perfectly as it did the day i got it. regardless of what brand you get though i thoroughly recommend doing a blank install of your OS without all the branded add-on bloatware that the laptop comes pre-loaded with. i choose my brand based on which laptop i like the layout of. some have weird keyboards that i cant seem to type properly with, and i like a full size numeric keypad. i also take note of where the usb's and power plug etc is to make sure things aren't going to be in annoying places where they will foul something else on my desk etc.

theres a bunch of threads already dedicated to basically this exact question. look in the relevant section (drivetrain & transmission). a wealth of information in there

i also very much doubt we'll ever see an AWD variant. it seems that this car is and always was designed to be FR through and through. i cant think of any other FR's that have ever also had 4wd added. inb4 "whatabout skylines f4ggot" ... you can make a 4wd into a 2wd easy, but you cant really make a 2wd into a 4wd.. unless you happen to have more money than brain cells. and skylines were designed in many variants to cover a much larger market sector than what the gt86 appears to be aimed at.

re: all the comments complaining about why they decided to use a boxer etc. not sure if any of you are aware but the economic events of the last few years have made it really difficult for companies to find viable reasons to spend large amounts of money. IMO i think this has played a large part in the reason why we are seeing relatively few options in this market segment over the last several years altogether. why do you think this was even a joint venture between subaru and toyota in the first place? cost sharing exercise.. im sure toyota would have loved to have been able to revive the ae86 all by themselves in true form but in times like these, concessions must be made and in order to make the car affordable they must make use of existing equipment rather than create everything from scratch which becomes very costly. IMO its almost a shame that the 86 had to come back at a time when the development may be somewhat hampered by economic conditions. and is anyone else of the opinion that the concept was a million times better looking than this? it looks like they've taken to it with the ugly stick since everyone had wet dreams over the original concept. just sayin

had already done all of the above, no change. even on different browser

halp! so anyways having issues with sau at the moment. at the moment the only way i can post is by using fast reply or starting a new thread. i've attached some screen shots, can anyone tell me why this is happening? the first one is how the forums all look. they aren't nearly as wide as they should be, and it cramps everything up. it should fill that entire white area?? also heres what the screen looks like when i try to post a reply. wtf is this? i try to go to my user settings page and i get this... most pages of the site have same/similar issues for me atm wtf is it? ok so it turns out if i refresh a page 10 times it'll go back to normal (which is how i've made this thread in the first place), but then next page i load goes back to being retarded. has anyone any ideas?

i think this is pretty spot on. whenever i've sold a car, i've tried to be more on the "realistic" side when making the asking price. at the end of the day, nothing is worth anything but what someone wants to pay for it. many sellers place an asking price based on "what it's worth to them". this is often very different to what it is worth to a potential buyer. yeah i see far too many cars advertised for many many months (and sometimes into the years) before they either sell (at a lower, more realistic price) or the owner just keeps it. its a bit like selling a house. you really need it to hit the market at a realistic price or it will soon go cold and the interest in it dies down dramatically and it goes nowhere. i paid $8000 for my 1991 r32 gts-t coupe (rb25det + big rb25 gbox) without even seeing the car in the flesh or having it checked out mechanically. rookie mistake. 4 years and about $25k later in parts/mods/servicing and i would only expect around $7k for it.. new zealand dollars this is.

take it back to where you bought it. tell them to give you another one

was anyone else disappointed with this game? for me all it was, was a continuation of the story. the game itself was exactly the same but with a couple different weapons. not sure what i was expecting but i dont think it lives up to the hype at all. i returned mine to ebgames and then went and bought battlefield 3 for about two thirds the price, much happier with that now. also in the multiplayer there was no infinite sprint perk, just "extended sprint". that really shits me having to move at walking pace most the time.

go check the events section

absolutely agree. i still have san andreas and its still by far the most fun gta ever.

getting back to the YLOD fixes, this happened to me last year with my original 60gb phat console and it sat around for 4-5 months before i learned how to fix it. the re-flow method worked for me but only lasted another 2 weeks, then the 2nd time i fixed it it lasted 2-3 months and i had cranked the heat gun up way hotter that time, the mobo was actually bending under it's own weight but straightened back out as it cooled. from memory it only lasted a couple days the 3rd time and then didnt work at all after the 4th so i cut my losses there and bought a new slim. what really shits me is how sony have made it absolutely 100% impossible to back up your data manually by taking the hard drive out to get the data off. the ONLY way to read your save games etc is using the EXACT console that that the hard drive was formatted with. any other PS3 other will not read your hdd. you cannot read it using a PC. the only real way to guarantee your stuff gets backed up is to: A: regularly back up all your saves to a usb flash drive (my favourite option) or external hdd. B: get a PSN Plus membership, which lets you back up your saves online so sony holds all your data for you. thats about the only potentially valuable feature of plus if you ask me. other than that its just a few free themes/avatars (lame) and waste of time really small discounts (5-10%) off SOME dlc items/games. for what it costs.. total waste of money IMO
