Bernard Tomic's Selling The M3
kawasakirider replied to gtr13's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Lmao... My dad has a VE and I drove it around Sydney. They are a quick car for a big unit, but they aren't dangerously fast by any means. I'm a p plater, this may come off as arrogant but I've done over 350,000 clicks since I've had my licence and I think I'm a better drive than a lot of people on the road (I don't sit up people's asses and do stupid shit), I'm still a p plater though, and unless you were an absolute douche, there's no car out there that is street legal that would automatically cause you to have a crash in, if driven sensibly. I am off my p's in a few days, I am so glad to kiss them goodbye. I've never lost my licence, but I believe p platers have a pretty unfair time for 3 years. -

JZP, I am aware that the fourbies suffer, too! My mates drive them. The more the merrier, it makes our cause stronger for sure. R32, just gunna call you Matt from now on. Thanks for all your ideas mate, they're awesome. Really good idea. I can't type much at the moment, I haven't slept since the day before yesterday (mrs was in the hospital all last night) and I'm pretty foggy. Please continue, this was really just an idea that I thought was a good one, but had doubts it would take off. If enough people get behind it and support the cause like you guys, then we may be able to have a real crack at this! -

32VspecGTR and Terry, really awesome ideas guys. I really don't know what the hell I could do, I don't even own an import. I want to in the future though, and I think changing our image will be for our benefit and the publics benefit also. I'm glad this thread is SLOWLY moving in some direction, lol. -
Fantastic! I have health issues that I can't afford to tend to the normal way (paying, lol). Fark I hate being a student.

Hey guys, does anyone know of a good doctor around the Southern suburbs of Brisbane? I have two prerequisites: 1. They must bulk bill, everywhere around here charges at least $80 for a consultation. 2. They must be Aussie, or at the very LEAST have an Aussie accent and know what they're talking about. I am sick of having doctors that can't get past the language barrier and don't have a clue what they're doing. Cheers

Thanks for that mate, I couldn't understand how venting to atmo would make any difference in power figures, I didn't understand why the comment was there, I thought the fella that said it was implying that one way was better than another for making power (obviously you don't want your car running rich every time you change gears, lol).
-
How is there a power difference between an atmo and a recirculating set up? Sorry for the dumb question.
-
Is it CS or 50/50? Brushless, lipo or brushed and NIMH? 2.4ghz or crystal radio? cheers.

All the 34 GTR's are amazing, but that KSR is a work of art. The owner should take a bow, it has the perfect mix of subtlety and badassery.

2 Day Old Iphone 4 16Gb, Still Has Plastic On It
kawasakirider replied to kawasakirider's topic in For Sale (Other Items)
Also, being a phone straight from apple, it is unlocked. -
Hey everyone, I have an iPhone 4 16 GB in black for sale. I got this yesterday from Apple, it's a refurb which means the metal around the outside, both bits of glass are new, and any internal parts that have failed are new. It still has the plastic on the back and there are NO scratches. The phone is pristine. The reason I am selling is that Optus rang me today and offered me a better deal with a 4S and no termination fee. I took the deal and now a 4S is on its way to me. If you're interested, pics can be arranged. This comes with a 90 day warranty, I believe for an extra $99 you can extend that warranty for 12 months. This phone is as close to brand new as any used phone will get. $500 ONO. My number is 0401029817. Text if you're keen.

You're a dickhead. Opening fire on a car for not stopping, fantastic idea! How about radioing through to units up ahead and allowing them to intercept the car, like usual? How many car chases go bad in Australia? A few. How many in the USA? Many. There's a reason, we use common sense and don't think "a bit of collateral is fair game if it comes down to stopping a criminal".

OK, how about this, to join a club or continue to be a member of one you're in now, your car must pass scrutineering at every meet (not cruise) you attend, and to be a member you mustn't lose more than a certain amount of points per year (not sure how you'd go about proving/checking this, as in QLD I believe it's $90 for a record of your driving history, not sure if many people will be keen to do that every 12 months). If these car clubs could implement this in a sound manner, and members of the club could put the stickers on their car (like SAU), cops will EVENTUALLY realise that not all of us are hoons and we are compliant with the law, it could possibly get to the stage where a car with an SAU sticker doesn't get pulled over as often (special members stickers would have to be made up, because the SAU normal stickers are everywhere). There are always going to be idiots that ruin it for everyone, so let's distinguish ourselves from them. Our campaign could be a little bit different... For example, instead of "car enthusiasts are persecuted" we could have a campaign along the lines of "Here at SAU, our goal is to provide a family friendly club with an emphasis on safe and legal performance cars", then start to elaborate on how we don't condone hooning on the street. We could still promote this image, weed out the idiots from the clubs and gain the respect of the public and the authorities in one. It won't be easy and it would take a long time, but you make a good point and it would be a good way to go, I reckon. EDIT It could theoretically get to the point where the club has more regular meets and perhaps even an award night every 12 months, one for the best improved driver, the underdog who has had a good crack at modding their car without any experience, etc. This is the way a lot of fight clubs are, family orientated and they do get amongst the community and they have awards nights and things like that. -

My general point is that police should be able to distinguish between a sensible driver and an imbecile. The car has nothing to do with it, stigmas associated with certain things is prejudice. If people can wear a burqa to cover up their identity in a public place (allowing them to commit crimes without being identifiable) and they get the benefit of the doubt, then car enthusiasts should get the benefit of the doubt, regardless of what car they drive. Their actions on the road should be the punishable offense, along with UNSAFE mods, like cut springs, shocks riding on bump stops, etc. -

I get what you're saying mate, but if we make our own campaign online then quite a few people will see it. Once it starts to get a bit of weight behind it, some big names like just car could be approached and then mainstream media MAY follow. I can't do it myself, what I need is for you guys to help me come up with ideas, then we need people to put their hands up and say "I can fill that gap", be it an engineer, someone in the car insurance industry, a videographer who could put something together for youtube, people willing to be interviewed for videos, people to organise meet and greets with the public in a family orientated fashion and then people to do the footwork to get out there putting flyers up. There is much to be done, but it can work and we can slowly chip away at it. So, with that said, does anyone have any ideas of what/who we need to get the ball rolling and is there anyone out there that could take on some of the aforementioned roles? EDIT I know it will never get to the point where cops won't hassle us completely, but it may open everyone's eyes. Are there any people out there who have been unjustly persecuted in regards to a modded car, taken it to court and won? We need to hear from you. We need to get it out there that mods aren't dangerous if performed correctly. As I have said, our legal system operates on precedence, if we can site cases where people have been unjustly fined and have actually beaten it, it will give us a fair chance next time someone gets taken to court for no reason. If we can be a bunch of documented cases for each state, it will make it much easier for people to say "hold on a second mate, I haven't actually broken the law and I'm not out to cause a drama". -

ACA won't show car enthusiasts in the right light 99% of the time, no matter what they've told a boost cruising forum member. I believe if we put in the hard yards, they might run a halfway decent story, though. I never said ACA don't have the power to sway peoples opinions, they do. What I said is, we do not need them to get our message out there. Millions are connected on FB and youtube and all over the internet. We can use this to our advantage and if we get some big names behind us (someone suggested just car, which is a GREAT idea), mainstream media WILL follow. It will be a hard slog, no doubt. The alternative is to sit back and watch our rights get taken away. If we present ourselves well, have a report ready to hand over to the MP's outlining why modified cars do not pose a threat to road users and pedestrians alike and a good ad campaign for the public then I believe we can get a good reception. Days where the public is invited out for a barbie and a look at the cars (I know this is already done, but it's just another thing to add to our campaign) would be great, local news would get amongst it and we could start a club that all enthusiasts can come under, regardless of what forum they frequent or car they drive. Together we stand, divided we fall. I didn't start this thread for naysayers to come in and voice their opinions on how futile this idea is. If you were true enthusiasts, the thought of you losing your rights to modify and drive your car would be enough for you to actually want to pull your fingers out and get behind this. -

So? You have to get ACA out of your head, they are not needed. -

We don't need ACA to air a story about the good aspects of the hobby, we can promote it ourselves if people that don't have a defeatist attitude are prepared to have a go. It will get to the point that any modification will be defectable, if you're content with sitting back and watching then sobeit. Black duck has been shut down due to deaths in the past, only to be reopened by a minority group of motocross riders rallying for it to be open again. If a detailed report landed on the desks of the big shots of the RTA, Vic roads and qld transport, along with a petition, it is more likely to entertain the person calling the shots. The report and the promotion of it all is what is important, we need to get the right message out before we send off a petition. If we can do that, THEN get a multitude of signatures, then we have a chance of setting a precedent of what is acceptable when modifying a car. It would be a hell of a lot better than waiting until we get fines and lose our licenses because our car has been lowered or has a loud exhaust. Take the Vortex exhausts for example, systems like this are legal and stock on many cars, but slap it on an import and you get a defect. This doesn't make sense and every part of our judicial system operates on precedence. This would have to be taken into account if the matter went to court and was brought up. They must make it fair for everyone. -

I'm in qld, haven't paid up because I don't own a skyline (only a p plater). To the people saying "lol" good on ya. If you're happy being forced to pay fines just because you own a modded car, sit back and let it happen! To the bloke that highlighted how many terrible drivers there are on the street, you're right and we can use this to our advantage. We need to distance ourselves from idiots. It should be easy enough to do if we can demonstrate how well organised the car clubs are and how much emphasis is put on safety. Most car forums do frown upon street racing and hooning, we need to put that image out their for the public to see. -
