Ordering From The Usa Again Soon.
Stuart McK replied to Howaitonaito's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Would make it easier when seeking cost to quote the part name - if your haven't already run across this, check here. It's a link to Infinity LHD models, but most parts in common: http://psedog.com/cars/fsm/g35/coupe/ Start with either the fwd.pdf (contents) or idx.pdf (index). -
Good Infiniti Dealer In Usa For Parts
Stuart McK replied to Howaitonaito's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Used them before and would use them again - Josh there was very helpful. One of the items I ordered from Sewell was a replacement in-cabin filter and it arrived crushed because they packed it loose amongst other items (stupid). They shipped over a replacement (in a box this time) at no cost to me - it was no fuss. -

Wtb: Rear Splash Guards
Stuart McK replied to Stuart McK's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I ended up getting them sent from overseas, as didn't have much luck on the forum - exchange rate is still pretty good now. Here: http://infiniti.sewellparts.com/parts-catalog/G35Coupe-2005.html Part # is 999j2jr000d4 . If you do a search a full set will appear, but if you email they can give you a price on a pair only (~$100 painted + shipping). You can make the shipping cost work for you by buying other spares (in-cabin filter, oil filter, etc). Cheers. -
Fs/parts V35 Series 2 Supercharged Hail Damaged

An absolute shame. When's the wake? PM sent. Stuart. -
All very interesting, but had to jump in here. I agree in general terms, but the thermostat controls the flow of the water in/out of the radiator to keep the *water* at a consistent temp. There would normally be a correlation between water and oil temp, but it will depend on your driving style as to how closely they influence each other and for how long. Anyway, as we all probably know, the first digit is the cold start viscosity and the second is the viscosity at the benchmark temp (100C?). Can't help but think it's critical to match the second to whatever Nissan say for the motor and not play with it. The first just depends on whether you live in Cairns or Hobart and what season it is... Anyway, I can't help but think a 5W-30 would be a nice 'sweet spot' for all-year round. 10W-40 would be better at the height of Summer I suspect though. Anyone experimented like Scotty?

Just Thought I'd Share A Good Site

Cool - haven't heard of shipito. But if they ship to Australia, why would I want to use a mail-forwarding service? -

And for coupes and G37s! But do they ship to Australia? Many don't... Thanks. -
Badges & Grills For The V35
Stuart McK replied to manc01's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Yep - sorry about that. I've owned numerous imports over the years (all Skylines) and very passionate on the subject. Seriously, go to g35driver.com and do a search on both subjects. For example, 'removing badges' returns many hits with before and after photos. The marketplace on the site also has numerous dealers able to ship after-market grills and Infiniti badging (if so inclined) over here too. I've bought items from a number myself. -
Badges & Grills For The V35

Again, you need to know how the RAWS Scheme works. If the Year/Brand/Model appears on the 'Specialist and Enthusiast Vehicle' Register and complied then it can be plated - either in limited numbers (low volume import) or unlimited (generally distribution). The Skyline V35 up to 2007 and V36 from 2006 are listed, and the Infiniti G37 is listed from 2007. So the rules *will* still allow them to be imported. Also, auction price is set by the bidders - if greater demand the price will rise. Anyway, I wasn't suggesting we could sell our cars for more, my point is that they will retain their value better once brand recognition with Wannabees builds. But who knows... And it works the other way - models beyond 2012 (if that's when Nissan are approved to deal Infiniti locally) will not be able to be imported as low volume imports. New vehicle dealers have to stock/distribute parts for the models they sell. However, this will give them (and us) access to the wider Nissan supply chain for other model parts, although admittedly at 'Genuine' prices. I suggest they would be driven to do this if more V35 owners take vehicles to Infiniti Service departments for regular maintenance. I'll only take 'big' work for my V35 to my local Nissan dealer myself now, for example. This is the class the Infiniti brand already targets in the U.S. The targets here will be much the same, although the marketing strategy may be different. But you are right in that the challenge will be in building the brand locally. This is the same challenge that Toyota had a decade ago when they brought the Lexus in as their luxury brand - and look at it now! I read that Infiniti dealerships will be specially selected - one in each Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane - but these would grow in time. This implies to me that Nissan will be cautious in how they target the vehicles and build the brand here. Regardless, only time will tell. And we are now off topic... -

I could write a thesis-sized paper for why you are so wrong, but I don't have time. You need to understand how the low volume import regulations work to understand why earlier models will not be banned once the current is available in 'unlimited plate numbers' in Australia. Anyway... We pay that price because of the fact that they are Low Volume Imports. At the moment, the V35 is seen as an 'enthusiast import' with all the challenges that entails - some real (e.g. insurance, because they are imports), some perceived (e.g. parts, which are really no problem) - so the price reflects that. Should the Infiniti brand become mainstream, with a dealer network to support it, it will become less 'of a risk'. The cost will be set based on the local market it is targeted against (e.g. Lexus, BMW M3, etc) - hence the ~95K+ figure. Wannabe's *will* do their research, see the differential between, and our older imported vehicles (with still low Klms) for less than 1/3 of the price will seem attractive in comparison. Of course, should Nissan change their mind again (not the first time following the first Infiniti release in Aust), all bets are off... -

Ordinarily I'd agree with you, but Nissan announced last year that they would be bringing the Infiniti into Australia by end 2012. The estimated cost I recall for a locally-released G37 would be ~$95-100K. Sometime around then, an Infiniti-badged Series 1 or 2 V35 would be looking pretty good for resale value IMHO. -

A hair dryer and dental floss. Heat up the badge and general area, and use the dental floss to separate the badge from the car when the glue is softened. Wax clean - done! You should find heaps of photos of 'de-nuded' cars on g35driver.com. -
Hi team! I've picked up gutter rash on my rims over the last couple of years (mostly not my fault - really). The last straw was a couple of nights ago when I got a flat in the middle of rush hour on the freeway and by the time I could find somewhere to pull over the tire had burnt out and the rim had bad road wear. Then I found out that I can't replace just one tire, but two as Toyo don't make the T1R anymore - going to run with 2 x Toyo T1 Sport (with T1Rs still on rear) now - but that's another story... Anyway, I'm after a full set of rims I can put my 2 x 235/35/19 and 2 x 245/40/19 on. Must fit standard Series 2 Coupe off-sets, stud pattern, etc. I would prefer OEM but if they are similar I will consider - no spinning chrome please (heh heh). They must be clean i.e. no gutter rash - otherwise what's the point for me? I'm in Canberra, so if your are within reach (i.e. Sydney, Wollongong) that'll make pick-up easier. Otherwise I'll need to sort out shipping. If any sane offers out there please PM me.

Yep - my 2005 coupe does that occasionally on a hot day. I suspect the button on the top sticks. A couple of taps after it's cooled down and all seems OK again.

Which Website Can I Buy V35 Parts From
Stuart McK replied to Andy Xue's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Also sewell (email [email protected]) and g35parts (http://www.g35parts.com/Infiniti-G35-Coupe-Parts-s/1.htm ) I've used both. Josh at Sewell in particular was extremely helpful. -

Cable Running To Rear View Mirror
Stuart McK replied to Alkatraz's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Huh? What could the immobiliser possibly take from a rear mirror? Anyway, the cable in my car does not offer a connector (from roof cavity into the back of the mirror). I could pull the mirror apart I suppose, but then with my luck my brakes might just stop working instead. And I think I need those... -

Buying Advice V Series
Stuart McK replied to Redhill68's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
+1 for Nagoya. I'm in Canberra too, and Alex at Nagoya was very accommodating when I was organising additional work before pick-up (cruise control and different tyres). The 370 is a great car but you will be paying ~$40K for a decent one (Nagoya has a couple currently). If you go for the 350, as I did, make sure it's a Series 2 (Dec 2004 onwards) as there were numerous improvements over the Series 1. You can pick up a good Series 2 for $25-30K now. I'm older than you and this is the 3rd Skyline I've owned. Loved them all. The HR32 and HR33 were fun cars, but the 350GT is a more comfortable tourer. -
Do your front lights flash after you try to start it - in which case it could be the stock immobiliser. Otherwise, if it's an automatic, could you have inadvertently disconnected the sensor which tells the car you're in Park (car will not start if it isn't in Park). Just ideas...

Oem V35 Wheel Question

Not standard equipment. Buy some though - you'd have a lot invested in each wheel once you put a decent tyre on. -
New Takeda Intake And Gtspec Strut Brace
Stuart McK replied to Stuart McK's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Hey, no problem - anyone can see I've got the cleaner car... Seriously, I agree with the sound. Much more of a growl on acceleration - very cool. I believe my fuel economy has gone down though, and I'm thinking of seeing if there is any way of 'tuning' the MAF which I think is the culprit (the air/fuel ratio has possibly been thrown off and it may be dumping excess fuel on acceleration now). The black rubber trim is meant to go around the edge of the replacement rear intake box. You'll need to slot it on and stretch it around the unit, trimming off what's left over. It is supposed to ensure a clean seal when the two parts (original and new Takeda replacement rear) are latched together. You want to ensure the intake is sucking air through the filter, and not through a poor join in the intake box. And I also noted the lack of a mount near the intake (where one was previously). The kit is a high quality one, but I would have thought that was an easy addition to ensure the box doesn't move around. That being said, the intake is fairly rigid and so the box doesn't move anyway.
