  1. Yep, just mean second hand, but you could proberbly buy 2 or 3 second hand boxes for the cost of a rebuild from what i have found out. E
  2. Shaun, Just a word of warning useing R33 engine in R32 GTR. If only it was that easy, i thought oh year stuff all difference but even things like the heater return hoses have different sizes, not to mention the issues with power steer pumps etc. Sure it can be done no worries, just may take a bit longer than you expect, best way is get an R33 long motor and bolt up all the accessorys off r32 motor and then i think its only 1 or 2 things that cause any problems. E
  3. R32 or R33 or R34, R32 & R33 are different you know. Anyway nissan can get them ex japan for good prices if you just want standard. You would be surprised on price i think. After market will be over $1000 i would think though. E
  4. R32 GTS-t boxes are common, cost maybe $200 or 300 ? Its the R33 GTS-t 5 speeds that are more expensive to find. Just buy a new one i would think would be cheaper, all gearbox rebuilds excluding parts i have been quoted a fortune ! E
  5. rev210 had some damn good points, i wasn't thinking about that cause i always warm up and change oil every 5000kms or 10,000 if not been driving too hard. When you do the diff oil dont forget to wipe the magnet clean of any metal gunk so it works better and also so you can see how much metal is comming adrift between changes. E
  6. Clutch is easy to destroy, but who cares, ok its good to not to and good to shift well but clutches are cheaper than boxes. Constant high rpm changes into the higher gears will kill the synco's for sure but thats something you have to live with. Match revs when downshifting will make your syncros work a lot less hard and and will improve your driving style. You dont really need this for street just more on the track or really fanging it. Suspect your box was on the way when you bought the car. E
  7. Yeah 500 a set would be great. Brigstone 540's and falken rsv04's in 265/23R18 are kinda expensive. (but it for a GTR) Only comment i wanted to make is i have some 265/35R18 Pirelli P7000's on rear of my TT soarer and although i haven't driven it around with these 2 long the seem good. E
  8. Some are ceremic some are steel. Yes they are a smaller turbo than the r33 units, not quite so much top end power. But spool way way way faster and a much more usable turbo. 1.2bar is the safe limit ! Yes they will both straight on an r32 GTR i think, more or less identical. I think they are ball bearing, thats what i hear, i know they spool super fast in my r34 gtr. You thinking of Deans set for you R32 GTR ? if you dont want to goto nismo or HKS turbos and stay fairly standard seems like a good choice. E
  9. All that aside, proberbly a pain in the ass changine just about the whole loom to make the 1jz work. Man the electrics side of it i think will be a total nightmare. converting a v8 soarer / ls400 to a TT model that is. E
  10. I have an R33 GTR computer remapped and 2 maps which are switch selectable. So it can be done, but mine was done in japan. E
  11. A PFC is again only as good as its tuner. If you after big power... and i mean big power, or want really good tuning, computer such as the Motec M800 do the best job by far, but often over kill for what your after. E
  12. My point was it doesn't really matter what damage is done, if a piston or ring is stuffed which a compression test will tell although you may not need to touch the head you will need to remove the engine, and rebuild at the very least the bottom end, and sure you can do it cheap by just chooseing to replace the damaged pistons and all the rings. You will still need some gaskits of course. You could re-use bearings..... but would you ??? after all you have gone to all the trouble to pull it all down why not do it properly. The labor alone to do the work would be close to the price of a new engine. Any which way unless you want to spend big bucks, have that new engine ready or gettable quickly when you pull the old one out. E
  13. I use 2 types. Both 245/40R18 or more often on bigger rims 265/35R18 Brigstone 540s Falken RSV04's Both good , 540s being the better of the 2, but dont have lap times etc that your after. E
  14. At a guess.... Pistons about $110 each Rings $280 / set of 6 Big End Bearing $140 Gaskit kit $300 Main bearing $ 130 Idler bearings if you want $ 220 Cam belt about $100 + all the work from boreing to linishing crank etc, + assembly. Those approx prices for GTR bits but gives you an idea, and not all the bits will be in stock. If bits of the ring etc have gone through your oil pump and stuffed that then add maybe another $500. What a whole new engine cost ??? I think its only worth rebuilding RB26's unless you wanted to make a real strong RB25 but it will be expensive. Evan
  15. Grid II's should have the marks... hopefully, theer also sold here in AU. Willing to bend a bit on price i could well be interested. E [email protected]
  16. And dont forget to change the oil when the car is warm, flows better and gets more crap out suspended in the oil. (be careful its not too hot, or get on you cause it burns bad.) I use penrite or shell helix usually, doesn't so much matter what oil as long as its changed with filter every 5000kms or so. A useless fact of course is some super charger systems have there own oil supply, some use engine oil. Better ones have there own supply i believe. E
  17. Fuel pumps dont have a HP rateing ! They have a L/hr at x presure graph. Bosch 040 Been useing a lot of these Bosch 044 and these. Bosch 975 975 is same as 044 but hand made and assembled and has threaded fittings, and is expensive ! The 040 and 044 can be made to fit in a standard GTR pickup situation, GTS-t same ??? i think so. E
  18. Got a set of nismo RR580 turbos to go on. But might look at something a little larger. 680cc injectors, air filters, Do-Luck areo wirvin body kit, did have a HKS twin plate but not currently in, 300km/hr white face dials, HKS EVC boost controller, rev/speed meter. Lots planned once i get the motec m800 wired in and get rid of the AFM's. You ? E
  19. Depends that age 180sx, early model ones you maybe better buying here cause after all the shipping and taxes and complience you dont save all that much. But if you want a late one like 96 model a lot more money can be saved. eg a early 180sx all the taxes , compliance etc maybe 50% of the cost, a 96 model you may find taxes shipping etc maybe only 30% of the cost. E
  20. Toyota finaince did my r34. E
  21. You just drop the front drive shaft out, of course they can tune on a 4wd dyno but more cost. Any why laptop tuning, its just a bit easier for the tuner sometimes but thats about it, it doesn't do a better job as such. E
  22. Well stuffed as in, worn. Allows oil to shall we say leak out the sides, and the thing is oil is leaking out there instead of being pumped up into the dead and sprayed where it should be. E
  23. Sounds like main bearing's stuffed.... Same as the last GTR engine i lunched ! (only now about to start rebuilding it almost 4 months after it went to god !, and no it wasn;t my oil, it was on the way out when it came from japan) Notice nissan say the lowest rating oil for GTR is a 7.5wNN I usually run 15w60 but 10w50, 10w60 etc is also good. E
  24. 2540R's are T04E's !!! Bolt on low mount for GTR's, HKS are really getting some big bolt on low mount turbos now ! E
  25. I have seen a few GTR's run disks and 4 pot calipers from the front on the rear and 6 or 8 pot brembos on the front with huge disks. E
