what does compression have to do with pinging?

I have done everything regarding fuel system. injectors, pumps 044 and standard, sard fuel reg, (filters, plugs, all oils, and gaskets were replaced when turbo was fitted). Have a Power FC for management. Dont have cams, plenum or anything like that. It does not ping when i put the boost to 14psi but when it goes up from that it begins, also you cant hear the pinging so its not bad at all just the slightest knock.

After the instakllation of the GT-RS turbo i have noticed some pinging (the dash warning light is coming up when giving it a bit). I took it back for a re-tune, dropped the boost back to 1.2 bar and took the timing back a few degrees and richened the mixtures to i think 12.5 and there is still pinging. I raced at the creek last night and it pinged in 2nd gear at 4500 rpm to redline then the other gears it was fine. The tuner said it is that the engine is getting to hot?? any ideas?

Eav00l i was returning down the strip when your bonnet flew up. Saw it just go! How did it happen? were you using pins or the standard latch? Who else was there last night? I managed a best time of 13.0 and 177km/h also i was making around 12.1 60 footers... That a good time? I have cheap street tyres and suspension is cut? What is the best for a rwd street car?

The most enjoyable read ever was when they compared to R34 GTR to some New HSV in a speed mag i think. Both were equally modified (just a few small bolt-ons, boost and computer), and the T34 GTR beat the Holden in every aspect from rolling start to breaking etc... There is no argument that Holden has some catching up to do!

I personally would not bother with the highflow. go a jap brand, when it comes to it the price difference is not that much. I bought a gt-rs for $2800 from nengun, and sold my standard turbo for $450. which ends up costing me $2350 for my new turbo. GCG have them for like $2000 and its your standard one re-done so u save few humdred $$ for what? a highflow? i just personally dont think they are as good as a jap unit, but oppinions differ.

yeah cant afford to keep it, looking at starting up a business so the car has to go. as long as i have it i will keep spending cash on it. Will buy one later on down the track if things to as planed... Pic Below more upon request....

Eav00l saw you run. I had the black 33gtst parked near the inspection point, didnt have my rego papers so couldn't run... I have 240rwkw, also. How did you only manage a mid 13 sec time? thought you could easily get into the 12's with that kind of power???

wilch i have the same flywheel as you. The purple anodised one. Works a treat! weighs almost nothing compared to the beasty stocker. You will enjoy the results, car revs real hard and fast. -
240rwkw @13psi seems very hard to beleive. From what i have heard you would need to run around 18psi to get those figures... Not doubting your results just amazed. Tang0 want to take your car out next week monday or tuesday to see how it goes compared to mine? I got 240rwkw and would love to compare.

If my eyes are fine they seem to indicate that it has a GTR dash also as well as the rest of the goodies listed above. There is no doubt that this is a GTR, not even worth questioning, amazing that people on the skyline forums have trouble recognising this.

Boost i got 210rwkw on 0.8bar which is pretty much standard boost. on that it seems a little laggier but top end it still goes.
