Dealer/ repairer I know has had alot of trouble with CVT-8 that he's sold.....he won't touch 'em now....and has done quite a few swaps. Thats all i'm throwing into this thread - ----that i know first hand someone that changes them over for people who have trouble with the CVT --and he's had enough of them because of the failure rate /issues he's experienced .........THATS ALL .........people who have got a good one & like em...GREAT .

I'm presuming its for the sedans also, but with the RTA who knows.......a buyer couldn't get mine because of this ruling, but as i say, I've seen quite a few coupes & sedans with red or green P plates stuck on the back. quote from RTA website: P1/P2 licence holders are restricted from driving the following 6-cylinder vehicles: BMW M and M3.Honda NSX.Nissan 350Z and 370Z (including private or 'grey' import variants eg. half your luck !!! ....i've had two serious lookers ......one tight *ss who refused offer of drive--- liked it but wanted to know how low i'd go !!!! .......& wouldn't make an offer & another one the other day who liked it --but was lookin at a white one also (mine better -i've seen the white one!) he ended up buying a Lexus IS300 6 calls in total ...led to nothing. now at $19500.

What you get for it ? (roughly) Many lookers ? they're a bastard to try & sell.

[FIRST thing to do is find someone with a decent scan tool and see what the story is.Jeezus people on here are ridiculous.... oh "just swap the POS 5speed tiptronic in there".... FFS?! I'll put a dollar on it not being related to the cvt in anyway. JUST ADVISING WHAT I'VE BEEN TOLD PAL ,, that boxes have been swapped over ...."PRESUMING" the CVT is the fault ----that was my only suggestion.......jeezs yourself!!! ...lighten up FFS !!!

why import ?--you can get good ones here for $15K-$22K with 80K or bit less kms

try E& M motors five dock .........he may have one -or can get one in .......or even diagnose/fix yours.

apparantly quite common when the CVTs die .....spoke to a guy at Five Dock 18 months ago who claimed to have done a few changeovers for customers.

As a P plater you might be outa luck ...350GT classed as high performance vehicle ......RTA prohibits p -platers from 350GT ...........in NSW anyway-------though i have seen heaps of 350GT coupes with p-plates on. A coupe for $17K ? ......can't see it happening --unless its a repaired write-off or something wrong with it. Steer clear of the CVT-8 boxes if you look at sedans. I know of an immaculate black 350GT series 2 sedan for $20K

CVT-8 ........try & get a 5 speed box installed..........a couple of grand -then trouble free for years---- CVT will provide on-going pain ..sorry.

G35me is bang on ........painfully hard to sell these things when the time comes --very limited market.......even worse for a sedan!! There's some great cars already here that you can actually sit in,drive & check out -rather than risking a sight- unseen one with an "interesting" importer . I wanted a black sedan--so i waited..........& one came up in Botany (Vesrion one) ---cloth interior but i wasn't a fan of the leather/suade combo of the premiums ---i drove it ---got it checked out by Stateroads for $350 ---perfect!.....bought it & its never given me any trouble. Only trouble I have is now trying to sell it for a reasonable price.......and when its $5K lower than other series II (in black --or silver), & still no calls .....people must think its got issues. Frustrating!!! Trouble is, people in general public land only know 350Z & maximas & are spooked by "imports"....even when they are superior to the local cars. If i were you man, I'd pull out now........and check out the ones already here for much less. At $27K ..you'll never get anywhere near your money back if you have to sell one day. (like me)

Just a reminder to all ---my SERIES 2, 5 speed tip-tronic for $20K --done 78K........criminal to sell at this price....spread the word please guys ---top car, but I can no longer keep her.
