  1. +1 Fuel presure, flow, and injector duty cycle are the same, meaning it *shouldnt* be fuel, so not enough air?
  2. This, except post BOV... Cheapest easiest quickest fix.
  3. Doesn't really affect me being in vic, but how about a common faults/diagnosis night? -AFM re-soldering etc. -Replacing rocker cover gaskets -Repairing power steering leaks -HICAS diagnostics procedure -Cleaning/UV protecting headlights -Non-start basics (checking cranking, injector pulse, spark, fuel pressure etc) -Checking/replacing coil packs etc. Would especially help people new to imports/Skylines rather than have them freak out if something goes wrong and every local workshop says "can't help you"....
  4. I read somewhere that the Nissan recommended service life on a stock turbo on a stock car is 100,000km? Yet how many cars see so many more k's at 10psi without dramas? And how many don't? As Ash said, no straight answer. Alot of people run ~14 psi no worries. Some run ~7 and have dramas....
  5. I'm guessing the thing pictured is an LCA and shocker? If so, lower shocker bush. It appears to have a steel outer ring, so you should be able to take the arm off and press it out, and fit a new one. Any auto parts (Repco, Autobarn/pro etc.) should be able to source you something.
  6. Stall converters don't work like that, they raise the point that the converter engages, but it's not an on/off style thing. Wtf is stage 2???
  7. Yes, your new BOV is causing all the problems, as it creates an air leak out of the system that the AFM and stock ECU can't account for..... Get rid of it.
  8. That's the problem though, more and more cars are being stolen even when fitted with good alarms etc as they are bypassed or simply put on a tow-truck.
  9. Hmmm. Good points. I'm aware it has flaws, but there has to be something we as owners can do to make selling stolen parts less lucrative? Unless everyone goes out and starts data-dotting.
  10. Hi all, Had an idea regarding the increasing number of stolen Skylines, most of which disappear forever causing alot of grief for their owners as they are most likely stripped/parted out and sold on to other fellow users. Basic idea: -SAU users register their VIN numbers (either an open page or PM'd to a moderator and kept private) -Any for-sale add regarding second hand parts requires the seller to list the VIN of the vehicle the parts are being removed from. -This can then be cross-checked to the register to check if the vehicle is owned by any-one or not (mainly the seller), and also against the Vicroads VSU free check: http://www.vehiclestatuscheck.vicroads.vic.gov.au/ I know it's easy enough to get a VIN off a parked car and use that, but between the register, Vicroads data-base, and cross-checking other for sale adds, there wouldn't be that many left? Also, trying to sell 3 stock SMIC's off the same VIN would obviously look suss.... I'm aware this system will have it's flaws and needs work, but wanted to see with some creative thinking whether it's worth the effort of improving? Cheers, Josh
  11. Has anyone else here heard about (I think it's VW)'s regenerative braking experiments using a flywheel that spins up on braking, then returns the power to the wheels under acceleration?
  12. Is it related to the original Deus EX (PC Version) from a few years back in any way? Or a seperate game all together? I remember the PC one being pretty good for it's time, up there with Unreal/CS etc..
  13. It is. From memory, when I replaced mine, the strut end (or one of them) is one-piece with the hinge and the ball is piened into the hinge where it joins. I ended up removing the hinges, cutting the ball off, drilling it out, and replacing it with a ball that has a nut securing it into place. This way the struts simply pop on and off if needed...

  15. Top fuellers use a 8194cc engine to produce ~8000hp, and frequently fly to bits, so maybe 1hp/cc is the limit?
  16. Not quite sure how to word it, but... Rolls, people are negative, such is life. I honestly though I came up with the idea for sequential turbo's, posted, and of course it'd already been done. You can only learn from asking, and some are better less negative/harsh teachers than others. I've asked much stupider things and learnt from my mistakes, but am better off/smarter from doing so. I thought up an idea a while ago of a large tank (say 5 litres) hidden somewhere that stores vacuum under idle/cruise etc, then switches a solenoid at WOT to lower the dump/front pipe pressures for a split second to try help spool a turbo quicker. Don't know if it'd work, but thought it was interesting...
  17. Interesting idea. 1400bhp from 1.5, 30 years ago, imagine what could be created now...
  18. Crazy sh** the old F1 cars. Reliability, cost, lives, exploding cars, all a mere formality just so long as their driver was on poll....
  19. I like the T-bolt clamps on the intake, i've had so many problems with hoses coming off under vacuum.....
  20. No worries, some people have tried using the DE ecu on the DE+T with not-so-good results. They don't have fuel or timing maps to suit the turbo and cause problems. It could be that the extra .5 litre is pushing the RB20 ECU near R&R (extra %25 airflow, even at the same boost) causing your excess fuel usage? Or even if the ECU constantly thinks the car is on boost and richens up accordingly? A re-map/tune will definitely help in all fields...
  21. Seems normal. The turbo depends on load and throttle position to actually make boost, so you might hear it spool/whistle, but it's not actually making boost. You said above you're using an RB20 ECU on an RB25DE? I'm assuming it suits the turbo car? As that can f*** everything right up if it's to suit an N/A. Is it tuned to suit the extra .5 litre or just stock? Fuel economy shouldn't change too much if you only baby the car. Mine easily does ~10L/100km on the highway and could get better if it wasn't so much fun coming out of a 60 zone into a 100 zone in third gear, but have seen anywhere up to 16L/100km around town or giving it a hard time. (Stock RB25DET ECU)
  22. Fuel economy should be the same, provided your not giving the car a hard time. Did you re-connect the O2 sensor after fitting the dump pipe? How much time are you spending on boost?
  23. 255/45/18'sX4 ~2700hp AWD drift FTW
  24. Hey mate, You won't pass a RWC (or a decent one) with an SAFC or any re-mappable ECU as it effects emissions. Why does it need tuning for a RWC?
