Thread revivial! Anyone care to comment on the legality side of this? Keen on converting my car, but don't want to run into trouble later as it's my daily driver. As below: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ep...html&st=820

Hey guys. In short, is a RB25DE+T legal? (If done correctly) Ie, under section 4, pages 7&8 of: http://epanote2.epa.vic.gov.au/EPA/Publica...6;FILE/1031.pdf "the conversion is unconditionally endorsed in writing by the vehicle manufacturer as being ADR compliant" I doubt Nissan would be interested in writing said letter? "the type has ADR certification" Ie. an ADR approved Greddy or whatever kit would fall into this category? "the converted vehicle is in all respects identical to the production turbocharged/supercharged vehicle" Which wouldn't be possible as the RB25DE and RB25DET run different internals/heads? Or, is it the kind of thing that you could get engineered provided you did it properly? I'm happy to get it engineered or carry a big book around. Lol. Any help appreciated as I am looking to start getting parts for my conversion.

Take that society! Haha.I like your perspective. Lol. But unfortunately some roundabouts won't effectively clear for ages.

Interchangeable Coilovers
blk94r33 replied to blk94r33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Cheers mate. Any help appreciated in making it more accurate, as stated above, as at the moment it's just a few posts correlated into a list. If people could measure and post up the factory upper mount type, stud number, stud pattern and distance, as well as lower mounting description/type i'll edit that in too. And can someone with a R33 GTS non turbo confirm that R33 GTS-T coilovers/struts will bolt in? I'm having difficulty finding any listings other than GTS-T stuff. I just want a basic street spec damper, non-adjustable to avoid getting the wrong kind of attention, that will take a 30mm King spring lowering spring. Instead I ended up with this thread. -
Flicked through all our look up charts and Auto-Encyclopedias, got nothing sorry mate :-/

Want to know what coil-overs will fit into what cars? Can't see the search tab? Lol. Try the following. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Te...,+shocks,+shock http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...gable+coilovers http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...gable+coilovers http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...=coilovers,+fit http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...=coilovers,+fit http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Co...=coilovers,+fit http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...=coilovers,+fit http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...=coilovers,+fit http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...=coilovers,+fit http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...=coilovers,+fit http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...=coilovers,+fit http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...=coilovers,+fit http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...=coilovers,+fit http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Gt...=coilovers,+fit http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/33...=coilovers,+fit According to the threads above, the following coil-overs should be interchangeable: R34: R34 GTT and R33 GTR R34 GTT and R33 GTS-T *front only* R34 GTT and R34 GTR R34 GTR and R33 GTS-T R34 GTS-4 and R33 GTS-T R34 GTS (non turbo)and all R33? R33: R33 GTR (BCNR33) and R33 GTS-4 R33 GTR and R34 GTT R33 GTS-T and R34 GTT *fronts only* R33 GTR and R33 GTST *fronts only* R33 GTS (non turbo) and R33 GTS25-T R33 GTS-T and R34 GTR R33 GTS-T and R34 GTS-4 R33 and R34 GTS (non turbo)? R32: R32 GTS-T and R33 GTS-T *front only* R32 GTR and R32 and GTS-T *fronts only* R32 GTR and R32 GTS4 NOTE:This isn't my information, just collected threads with the intention of helping people looking to buy coil-overs. I'm simply trying to find what coil-overs will fit into my car (94 S1 R33 GTS non turbo), and ended up with this thinking others might use it considering i've found 16 relevant topics on the same thing, and there's alot more as I only did a few basic searches to get an idea. There's so many contradicting statements and "fronts will, rears won't", different mounting types, and the fact that the above is just based on bolt-in fitment, nothing to do valving, spring rates etc. I could ramble on, but I think you get the idea that i tried to make this as a guide for people, as per the topic description, and i'm happy to edit the post if people can add things such as "I bolted R32 GTR front coilovers into my R34 GTST no worries",and also as I get more motivated to sift through the remaining topics from more searches. But honestly, the whole thing is a head f***, so just buy coilovers to fit your car and be happy.

Will have a look at work for you tomorrow. But as above, firm, but that also depends on the size of the bolt/nut/thread. So long as you loctite them and do them up firm, they'll hold. Check tomorrow anyway.

Car Won't Start, Wide Variable Of Potential Problems
blk94r33 replied to Tyral's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Car cranks, step one. Step two, before going any further, check your compression (as above) to make sure you're not wasting your time with a stuffed engine. You said the car has spark? Take the plugs out and make sure they're not stuffed/contaminated, plus the oil in the plug tubes over time will eff the coils and make them arc out to the plug tubes, try cleaning them out and the plugs to get a good spark. You have fuel pressure? Best to double check with a gauge to be safe. Does it try to fire on aerostart? Check for injection pulse using a noid light or low amp LED test light, and use the earth provided in the injector connector to make sure it's switching, not just powered. If you have all these things the only options left that won't let it "run" are: Timing (injection, ignition, or belt (which should show up on a compression test)) Computer Possibly your air flow meter. Insufficent cranking speed. The afformentioned are the bare minimum the engine needs to fire. Hope that helps. -
What components mate? Might be able to help you out.

Neutral Position Switch
blk94r33 replied to bobba's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
^+1 Never heard of an old manual box having more than a reverse switch and speed sensor? -
^+1 Well put. And Travis32, good work with your install mate, you'll be quite pleased with it once it's carpeted and all cleaned up.

On the topic, are the stock gauges a one-piece assembly? Or does each gauge, ie fuel, temp, taco, speedo, oil pressure, have it's own self contained unit? Would like to change my stock oil, temp and taco for autometer items. Anyone done this? Time to take the cluster out I guess lol...

Removing Spare Wheel/space Saver
blk94r33 replied to Trozzle's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Also, if you have a spare wheel you need to carry a jack (in Vic anyway). Otherwise the vehicle wouldn't pass a roadworthy if you were putting it in for one. -
Massive Newb Question! Im Sorry!
blk94r33 replied to Juz's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Usually people block it off/disable it for drifting/race purposes, as the back wheels turning as well as the front can make the car feel unstable in certain conditions and counter-productive to the handling of the car. While some people just don't like the feel of it if they're used to a normal car (but it's pretty hard to notice). -
http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...ld-t328138.html http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Bo...amp;hl=boot+r32 There's heaps of others, these^ are recent. Just search!

Yeah, the plan was to retro-fit something to it, I put a post up somewhere asking if anyone knows of a direct-fit alt for the RB25DE (i'm lazy lol) but if need be I'll just get something compact with a good output and fabricate a bracket and machine the pulley to fit.
-
Ah right, a 100 a/h, so around 700-800cca plus your other battery? That's why I need a decent alternator, I just want to keep my new compact 400cca battery to start the car, I don't run the stereo with the car turned off as once the amps detect anything below 11/12v they shut off to avoid cooking anything, plus it runs flat pretty quickly. Still looking for a 120a+ alt to put on it.
-
NICE! What are you running it off? Bulk batterys or? 5000w rms would have to be drawing 300+ amps at full noise....
-
Used the VHT Vinyl Dye on the boot lid section and taillight panel in my boot (after the photos), stuff works perfect, but you will need to give it a few coats for a deep finish.
-
Cheers, it looks alot better "in person", the carpet looks sorta tacky in the pics, but now that i've cleaned everything up and nearly finished it pending a fuse box, i'm really happy with it. Pretty sure I need a HO alt, the one on it is a 90a, and I think with [email protected] volts it takes about 70ish amps to run it, put the other loads, computer, ignition, fuel pump etc on that and the voltage starts to drop below the 12v line, headlights dim etc. A battery's just a storage device to start the car, the alt does the work after that. Are you running 5000w rms or max? That's a s***load of power! What's your setup?

Hit a f****** roo the other weekend, minor damage, bar, grille and light, rest of the bits have been arranged. Looking for a drivers headlight to suit a series 1 R33 coupe, happy to pay freight/postage if seller can arrange it but do need it sent. Will buy the pair if you don't want them separated. Cheers.
